Itinerary of your trip Namibia Through The Eyes Of Children

  • Day 1 Day 1: Windhoek
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Windhoek

Pick up your separately booked rental car at Windhoek International Airport. Then drive to your guest house. Get to know Windhoek during a walk. Stroll along Independence Avenue and enjoy your first impressions of the country and its people. One night at The Elegant Guesthouse (middle class). Approx. 50 km.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Windhoek - Mariental
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Windhoek - Mariental

You drive south into the red dune landscape of the Kalahari Desert, the largest desert on earth. The Bushmen call it the "soul of the world". South of Rehoboth you cross the Tropic of Capricorn and reach your ranch via Kalkrand. 2 nights in the Kalahari Anib Lodge (middle class) in Mariental. Approx. 260 km (breakfast).

  • Day 3 Day 3: Kalahari
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Kalahari

After a leisurely breakfast, get to know the beautiful landscape of the Kalahari better. On a nature drive or a guided hike (both optional) you will encounter small and large inhabitants of the desert. The ranch grounds are also home to many tame animals, including cats, aardvarks and small antelopes. Relax in the garden in the afternoon and watch your children splashing happily in the pool. (Breakfast).

  • Day 4 Day 4: Mariental - Sossusvlei
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Mariental - Sossusvlei

The next stunning desert awaits you today: the Namib, the oldest desert in the world. On your way there, we recommend you take a break in the small village of Maltahohe and visit the OAHERA Cultural Center. Here you can buy handmade souvenirs. Then continue to your lodge. 2 nights at The Elegant Desert Lodge (middle class). Approx. 300 km (breakfast).

  • Day 5 Day 5: Sossusvlei
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 5: Sossusvlei

Visit the highest and largest sandpit in the world in Sossusvlei today and tomorrow. Marvel at the large sand dunes, take off your shoes and feel the soft sand under your feet. Climb the mighty dunes and let yourself fall into the soft sand. The clay soil of the Dead Vlei stands in contrast to this - as do the petrified trees that make the Dead Vlei one of the most photographed places in Namibia. You can also visit the approx. 35 m deep Sesriem Canyon, which was carved into the soft rock by the Tsauch River. (Breakfast).

  • Day 6 Day 6: Sossusvlei - Swakopmund
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Sossusvlei - Swakopmund

After breakfast, continue over the Gaub Pass and the Kuiseb Canyon via Walvis Bay to Swakopmund on the coast. The Walvis Bay lagoon is home to a variety of flamingos, pelicans, seabirds and sandpipers. It is ideal for bird watching. In the afternoon you reach Swakopmund. This lively town on the Atlantic is a landmark for its well-preserved Wilhelmine architecture. Numerous museums, charming shops, street cafรฉs and restaurants as well as a variety of excursion options await you here. 2 nights in the Royal Sea Star Guesthouse or Kramersdorf Guesthouse (middle class). Approx. 365 km (breakfast).

  • Day 7 Day 7: Swakopmund
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Swakopmund

Swakopmund and its surroundings are waiting to be discovered by you. Take advantage of the optional activities on offer locally, such as dune sliding or motorcycling for children. Our tip is an exciting boat trip: seals come on board and want to be fed, while pelicans fly alongside the boat waiting to catch a tasty morsel. To round off the trip, enjoy Walvis Bay oysters, snacks, sparkling wine and refreshing drinks on board. Back in Swakopmund, you can make a detour to the beach promenade and let off steam with your children on the beach. (Breakfast).

  • Day 8 Day 8: Swakopmund - Erongo Area
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Swakopmund - Erongo Area

Today, after a relaxed breakfast, you set off to get to know the Erongo region. You drive northeast via Arandis and Trekkopje. Thousands of Bushman paintings can be found in this region. One night in the Ai Aiba Rock Painting Lodge (middle class). Approx. 270 km (breakfast).

  • Day 9 Day 9: Erongo Area - Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Erongo Area - Etosha National Park

Set off today in good time to get to Etosha National Park. Here you may encounter giraffes, elephants, lowen, springbok and many more animals. Your camp is located outside the park, near the Anderson Gate. Depending on your arrival time, you can plan a first visit to the park today. The entrance gates close at sunset. One night at Etosha Safari Camp (middle class). Approx. 240 km (breakfast).

  • Day 10 Day 10: Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 10: Etosha National Park

You cross the park from west to east on game drives in your rental vehicle and reach your family-friendly camp outside the park in the afternoon. Etosha means "great white place of dry water". This refers to the huge salt pan that lies in the middle of the national park. You will drive across the vast, seemingly endless plain and encounter wild animals. Often it is not so easy to spot the animals, so keep your eyes open - lowen often sleep in the shade of the trees and although giraffes and elephants are so big, an untrained eye only sees them when they are almost in front of you! 2 nights at Mushara Bush Camp (middle class). Approx. 190 km (breakfast, dinner).

  • Day 11 Day 11: Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 11: Etosha National Park

Explore the national park with your rental vehicle for the last time today. With a lot of luck you will come across endangered and protected animals such as the black rhino or the black-faced impala. The many waterholes also offer good opportunities to observe animals. Spend lunch time relaxing in one of the camps in the park. Return to your camp in the evening. (Breakfast, dinner).

  • Day 12 Day 12: Etosha National Park - Otjiwarongo
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 12: Etosha National Park - Otjiwarongo

You say goodbye to Etosha National Park. Your journey continues towards the south. Your accommodation is located approx. 43 km north-east of Otjiwarongo and is ideal as a stopover on your way to Windhoek. Here you have the opportunity to fully absorb Namibia once again! The lodge is situated in the heart of the savannah on a 120 square kilometer farm. In addition to gemsbok, zebra, kudu and springbok, this Namibian savannah is also home to rarer species such as eland, roan and hartebeest, impala and white-tailed wildebeest. The bush with its varied nature and breathtaking wildlife offers countless photo opportunities. The lodge offers optional game drives in an open game drive vehicle. You can also relax in the pool or observe numerous animals such as sable antelopes, black springboks and nyalas, which migrate to the waterhole before your eyes. Let your journey come to a pleasant end. One night at the Frans Indongo Lodge (middle class). Approx. 260 km (breakfast).

  • Day 13 Day 13: Otjiwarongo - Windhoek
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 13: Otjiwarongo - Windhoek

After an extensive breakfast, return to Windhoek. You still have the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping before continuing to the international airport. After returning your separately booked rental car, the journey ends. Approx. 340 km (breakfast).
