  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival

      Upon arrival at the airport in Muscat and after completing the visa requirements, you will be

      welcomed by your guide who will take you to your hotel. Rest of the day is at free disposal.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Muscat City Tour And Evening Dhow Cruise

      Day 2: Muscat City Tour And Evening Dhow Cruise

      You will be picked up by your guide at 9 am with an air-conditioned off-road vehicle. We start the city tour with the visit of the Sultan Quaboos Mosque (please note the rules of clothing; your tour guide will inform you on the day of arrival). Afterwards we drive to the district of Muttrah where the port of Muscat is located. There we visit the fish and vegetable market and take a short hike along the harbour promenade past old trading houses from previous century to the famous Muttrah Souq. In the Souq you have the opportunity to dive into the traditional Arab world of business. After shopping in the Souq we make short refreshment break in a traditional coffee shop before continuing to the Bait Al Zubair Museum. In the museum, your guide will show you Omani culture by means of its exhibits. After visiting the museum, you will continue to the Al Alam Palace, a residence of HM Sultan Quaboos Al Said. There we take a short walk through the palace grounds with its fantastic gardens and the two Portuguese fortifications, Mirani and Jilali. At around 4 pm we will arrive at Marina Bander al Rowhna, where you start a 2 hour dhow trip along the coast to see the sun set. Return to the Hotel about 6.30 pm.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Al Hazm Castle, Wadi Bani Awf, Jebel Shams

      After check-out, you will be picked up at 9 am by your guide with an air-conditioned off-road vehicle. We leave Muscat towards Barka the capital of the Southern Bathinah region. Past Barka, we leave the coastal road at Al Mussanah for our first stop at Al Hazm Castle. The recently renovated fortress offers an impressive view of Omani culture. Continuing in direction of Rustaq, from where we reach Wadi Bani Awf via Wadi Shaitan, the only crossing over the Hajar Mountains to Al Hamra. In the middle of this exciting off-road ride,

      past deep ravines and canyons, we will make the next stop at the 1000-year-old village of Bilat Sayd (at 1500m above sea level) with its charming terraced gardens. Arriving on to the other side of the mountain ranges of Jebel Al Ahkdar (Green Mountains) we drive past Al Hamra up to Jebel Shams (Sun Mountain). On 2500 meters, directly below the highest peak with 3009 meters (Jebel Shams) we enjoy the view of more than 2000meter Deep Omani Grand Canyon. Afterwards, we will take you to the mountain camp. (Arrival about 5 pm)

  • Day 4 Day 4: Sint, Al Ain, Jabreen, Bahla And Al Hamra

      Day 4: Sint, Al Ain, Jabreen, Bahla And Al Hamra

      After breakfast we leave the mountain camp at 9am. On the way back we have another chance to see the extraordinary geological formations of Jebel Shams. Back down the the valley we leave the asphalted road and drive off road in the direction of Sint, with the opportunities of photo stops with a fantastic views over the valley of Sint. Then we continue to Wadi Al Ain to visit the well-preserved, 4000 year old, Beehive Graves. Afterwards, Jabreen Castle is on the agenda. This 400-year-old castle is particularly impressive for its well-preserved ceiling paintings, wall frescoes and unusual architecture. We continue towards Bahla where we make a photo stop of the largest clay fortress in the world. We continue to Al Hamra. Here we take a walk through the old houses (some of which are nearly 500 years old). The largely preserved city is situated on the edge of a huge oasis. we drive to our hotel in Nizwa (arrival at the hotel about 5 pm)

  • Day 5 Day 5: Nizwa, Ibra And Wahiba Sands

      Day 5: Nizwa, Ibra And Wahiba Sands

      We leave the hotel as usual at 9am and drive to the centre of the former capital of Oman, Nizwa. First, we will visit the Souq, which has a special cross-section of Omani culture, evident from several large spaces and many small shops. Afterwards, we visit the fortress with its impressive canon tower; from its platform there is a beautiful panoramic view of the oasis of Nizwa. After short refreshments at the Souq, we continue to Ibra. Here we visit the old town of Salafat, where some of the hundreds of year’s old palace-like buildings can still be seen. After the tour of Ibra, we head towards the Wahiba sands. By al Wasil it goes into the dessert. We reach our desert camp at around 4.00 pm. After a short time to relax, we are driving up to 200 meter high orange sand dunes to watch the sunset After dinner in the camp, we end the evening under a bright starry sky.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Wadi Bani Khalid, Hammodah Mosque, Al Ashkarah, Sur

      As usual, we leave the hotel at 9am and head towards Wadi Bani Khalid. Arriving at the entrance to Wadi Bani Khalid, we take a walk past crystal-clear water pools and orchards into Wadi. Surrounded by powerful rock masses, you can swim or hike to the end of the Wadi, or simply to enjoy the surroundings from its restaurant. We are leaving the Wadi and heading towards Jalaan Bani Bu Ali where we visit the around 900 years old Hammodah Mosque. A very outstading building with 46 domes. After that we continue to Al Ashkarah and from there along the coast road through many small fishing villages to the harbour town of Sur where we visit the old African port of Aiyah with the beautifully renovated lighthouse and many well preserved old trading houses. Then we visit a dhow factory where the traditional Omani wooden vessels are still hand-crafted. ( Check in at our hotel about 6 pm)

  • Day 7 Day 7: Sur, Wadi Tiwi, Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Arbyeen, Wadi Al Mayh

      We leave the hotel at 9am and Wadi Tiwi, which is one of the most impressive and beautiful Wadis in Oman. Our path leads us through terraces and small mountain villages up to 1500 m above sea level. From there we have a fantastic view of the fruit terraces and the many water pools. On the way back we make some stops to admire the extraordinary rocky crags. Along the coast road we make our next stop at Bimmah Sinkhole. A collapsed cave which formed a large crater filled with crystal clear water. We continue off-road over the mountains to Wadi Abryeen with its crystal clear water pools. After a few stops in the Wadi we drive back to Muscat through Wadi Al Mayh with a very special landscape with extraordinary rock formations. At about 5 o’clock we check into the hotel.

      We pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport in time. Your guide will inform you about the pick-up time the day before.

      We reserve the right to make changes to the program. After particularly heavy rainfall, driving some Wadis and mountain roads can be too dangerous or impossible. In this case, your tour guide will find an alternative route.
