      You will fly overnight to Muscat.

      Day 4: Nizwa And Its Surroundings

      Today you will take a detour to the mountain village of Misfah with its beautiful terraced fields on steep mountain slopes and continue your journey to Al Hamra. Visit the old village center, which consists of multi-story brick houses made of dark red clay, and the Bait-al-Safah Museum. Here coffee is roasted, flour is ground, bread is baked and you will be shown other daily activities. Via Wadi Ghul you will then continue by off-road vehicle to Jebel Shams. From a plateau at 2,000 meters above sea level, you will have a gigantic view of a 1,000 meter deep gorge, which is rightly called the "Grand Canyon" of Oman. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel in Nizwa. (B/A)

      Day 3: Off To Nizwa!

      Before you leave for Nizwa today, you will visit the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Muscat, which is decorated with eight tons of Swarovski crystals and a hand-knotted carpet measuring almost 4,300 meters. The generous greenery of the grounds as well as the planting of many palm trees in the immediate vicinity harmoniously round off the image of the Sultan Qaboos Mosque. Afterwards you will drive past the mountain oasis Fanjah to Bahla. Here you will visit Bahla Fort (exterior visit), the largest clay fortress in Oman (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Then continue to the fortress of Jabrin, a masterpiece of Omani architecture, before reaching your destination for today, Nizwa. The beautiful oasis town lies at the foot of the magnificent mountain scenery of the Akhdar Mountains. In Nizwa, visit the mighty clay-colored castle complex and the bustling souk, known for exquisite silver jewelry and intricately crafted scimitars. You will spend the next two nights in Nizwa. (B/A)

      Day 5: Desert Romance In The Wahiba Desert

      Today you will walk in the picturesque oasis of Birkat al-Mauz and get an insight into the ancient Falaj irrigation system (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afterwards you will stay in the beautiful Wadi Bani Khalid with turquoise blue natural water pools. If you like, you can take a refreshing bath! A highlight is the Wahiba Desert with its sand dunes, whose fascinating shapes are in constant change. You will reach your desert camp, where you will spend the night in comfortable tents with beds and private shower/toilet. Look forward to the sea of sand, which has all shades from honey yellow to red, and with a little luck experience a beautiful sunset over the dunes. After dinner, enjoy the silence of the desert under the twinkling starry sky. One night in a comfortable desert camp. (B/A)

      Day 6: Seafaring City Of Sur

      The return journey to Muscat takes you through an enchanting landscape. In the old seafaring town of Sur with a glorious past, you will visit a dhow shipyard and get an insight into the ancient art of shipbuilding. You will also make a stop in Wadi Tiwi and take a walk through the picturesque village. In the evening flight from Muscat to the south of Oman (approx. 1 hour). Welcome to the frankincense region of Dhofar! In Salalah you will stay for the next four nights. (F)

  • Day 6 Day 2: Muscat

      Day 2: Muscat

      You will land in Muscat. At the airport you will be warmly welcomed and then transferred to your hotel, where you can have breakfast. After breakfast, you will visit a fish market to see the catch of the day and gain interesting insights into the daily life of Omanis. Afterwards, you will continue to Nakhl and visit the impressive fortress, which has recently been extensively renovated and is located directly in front of the gigantic backdrop of the steep and bare mountain massif of Jebel Nakhl. Afterwards, look forward to the soothing atmosphere of the famous mineral springs of Nakhl. Back in Muscat, you will now check into your hotel and continue your sightseeing program after a short breather. You will stop at the Sultanโ€™s Palace (exterior visit) and then stroll through the winding alleys of the souk, where the air is filled with the scent of fine spices and incense. Let yourself be enchanted by the oriental range of goods and haggle with the merchants for the best price. The rest of the day is at your leisure. 1 night in Muscat. (F)

  • Day 7 Day 7: Frankincense Region Dhofar

      Day 7: Frankincense Region Dhofar

      From Salalah you will drive along beautiful stretches of beach near the fishing village of Mughsail and experience the famous "blowholes", rock holes from which the surf shoots into the air in spectacular fountains (depending on the tide). On your way to the Qara Mountains to the tomb of the prophet Job, you will pass frankincense trees, whose resin was the basis of the regionโ€™s former wealth and is still harvested today. At the Frankincense Museum, you will gain insight into the history and importance of frankincense in the Sultanate. Your urban expedition through Salalah today will also take you to the Shanfari Mosque (exterior visit) as well as the souk. Immerse yourself in the refined world of fragrances, where the smell of frankincense and myrrh is everywhere. (B/A)

      Day 8: Wadi Darbat And Samharam

      Today you will drive to the impressive Wadi Darbat - among Oman connoisseurs one of the most beautiful in the Sultanate! In the eastern part of the Dhofar province, another stop is worth seeing: the ancient port city of Samharam, which in its time achieved wealth with the trade of frankincense, myrrh and slaves. Back in Salalah, you can then use your free afternoon to relax at your beach hotel. (F)
