      The day starts with a city tour. The Sultan Qaboos Mosque is impressive. The architectural gem impresses with its almost 4,300 m hand-knotted carpet and a huge chandelier. Then continue towards Nakhl with the impressive fortress and the famous mineral springs. Back in Muscat, visit the Sultanโ€™s Palace (outdoor tour) and get an insight into Omanโ€™s art and culture at the Bait al-Zubair Museum. Then stroll through the winding alleys of the traditional Muttrah Souk, where the air is filled with the scent of fine spices and incense. Be enchanted by the range of goods and haggle with the dealers. (F)

      Today, you will continue your journey southeast through a rugged coastal landscape to the seafaring town of Sur. During the journey you will pass the seaside village of Quriyat and Bimah Sinkhole, a limestone crater with turquoise waters. Then you can reach Sur, once a major maritime trade metropolis, via Wadi Tiwi. 1 night there. (F)

      A visit to a dauf shipyard will give you a glimpse of the old shipbuilding art. Then continue to Wadi Bani Khalid. Guests can take a refreshing dip in the large natural pools with turquoise waters. The highlight of every visit to the Sultanate of Oman is the Wahiba Desert. On the edge of the desert, you will switch to a four-wheel drive vehicle. Driving through the spectacular desert landscape with its golden sand dunes to your desert camp is a unique experience. With a little luck, enjoy a beautiful sunset over the dunes and a sparkling starry sky in the evening. 1 night in a desert camp. (F/A)

      After breakfast, you will leave the desert and continue your journey to Nizwa. Along the way, visit the womenโ€™s market in Ibra, which is held every Wednesday. This is where Bedouin women praise their wares. Then continue to the Hadjar Mountains to the palace of Jabrin, which is one of the most beautiful and interesting buildings of Oman. It is a short drive to the old capital of Nizwa. 2 nights there. (F)

      Al Hamra can now admire the old town centre, which consists of multi-storey brick houses made of dark red clay, as well as visit the Bait al-Safah Museum. Here, coffee is roasted, flour is ground, bread baked and other everyday activities are shown. After a detour to the mountain village of Misfah, with its beautiful terraced fields on steep mountain slopes and the ancient Falaj irrigation system (UNESCO World Heritage Site), continue your journey to Jebel Shams by 4x4. From a plateau located at an altitude of about 2,000 m, you have a gigantic view of a 1,000 m deep gorge, which is rightly called the โ€œGrand Canyonโ€ of Oman.       Today it is worthwhile to get up early to visit the traditional cattle market in Nizwa. Marvel at the hustle and bustle on the square. From far away, the buyers and sellers come to bargaining loudly for goats and sheep. A short walking tour takes you through the oasis city of Nizwa. You will visit the fort, which can be seen from afar by its monumental fortress tower. Then visit the souk, famous for traditional silver and copper work. On your way back to Muscat, stop in the picturesque oasis of Birkat al-Mauz. In Muscat, take an evening tour to experience the illuminated city. 1 night in Muscat. (F/A)

      After your transfer to the airport, your flight will depart from Muscat to the island of Zanzibar, where you will spend the next few days. You can feel the Arab influence as soon as you drive to your hotel in Stone Town. Today, youโ€™ll visit the lively Darajani Market, which sells vegetables, spices and fish. Afterwards, stroll through the winding alleys of the old town (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Numerous historic buildings, such as the Palace Museum, the former residence and the Sultanโ€™s ceremonial palace, the decorative โ€œHouse of Wondersโ€ and many ornate wooden doors bear witness to the close connection with Oman. 1 night in Stone Town.
