      Individual arrival in Mestre (Venice mainland). The city of Venice will enchant you with its world-famous beauty.

      After a few kilometers by bike, you will first take the ferry and then the vaporetto past Saint Markโ€™s Square. You will then reach Punta Sabbioni, the southern border of the Adriatic coast north of Venice. From here, continue along the fantastic seashore, which offers plenty of opportunities for a refreshing swim. You will spend the night in one of the towns along the famous seashore.

      Day 3: Jesolo/Caorle/Maritime Coast - Portogruaro

      Leaving the sea behind, you cycle northwards towards the Julian Alps, passing through an area rich in waters and small huts, typical of the lagoon. You will finally reach Portogruaro, one of the most important towns at the time of the Republic of Venice.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Portogruaro - Aquileia

      Day 4: Portogruaro - Aquileia

      The route can be shortened by 20 km if you take the train from Portogruaro to Latisana. This day you will spend in the middle of the plain on the eastern border between Veneto and Friuli. You will cycle through an area rich in water and history, passing rivers, canals and ancient Roman towns. A detour to Palmanova, known as the "Star City", is also possible. Your destination is then Aquileia, with its Roman ruins.

      Day 5: Aquileia - Trieste

      On this day you will cross the river Isonzo. Many great battles took place here during the First World War. Continue to the sea: the Gulf of Trieste awaits you, it invites you to various resting places, including Duino with its two castles, Sistiana with its characteristic bay, and Miramare with the famous castle built at the request of Maximilian of Habsburg. At the end, Trieste, an ancient port of the Habsburg Empire, awaits you with its monuments. A longer version of the stage (+24 km) gives you the opportunity to discover Grado in the Marano lagoon, an ancient fishing village with a beautiful historical center. The trip can then be shortened by 30 km by taking the train from Monfalcone to Trieste at the end of the stage.

      After a few kilometers, you will cross the first border: you are now in Slovenia. Here you cycle mainly on cycle paths through well-known places, such as Koper, a Venetian and then Austrian town, and Piran, a center long dominated by Venice. At the end, you will reach Portoroลพ, a famous spa and spa town.

      You cycle south through the Secovlje salt works, the largest wetland in Slovenia and an important place for ornithologists. After a few kilometers, you will cross the Croatian border and cycle down to Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. You will then reach Porec, the Croatian capital of tourism, with the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
