      After breakfast this morning, set out on a guided walking tour to discover the sights of Avignon. Once the centre of the Roman Catholic world, this Provencal town is home to exquisite architecture and an atmospheric old centre. A visit to the World Heritage-listed Palace des Papes is sure to be a highlight, as it is the largest medieval fortress and Gothic palace in Europe. With more than 25 rooms open to the public, you will be absorbed in the ceremonial halls and cultural frescoes of what was once the historical centre of the Roman Catholic Church. With lunch yours to spend at leisure, be sure to wander the townโ€™s beautiful cobblestoned streets and snap a photo of the famous Pont dโ€™Avignon which once spanned the width of the Rhone River. Your day would not be complete without taking in the panoramic views of the city from the hilltop gardens of Rocher des Doms. Transfer to your hotel, a relaxing retreat that boasts a lovely garden filled with fragrant jasmine and colourful bougainvillea.
