Depending on your arrival time, you may have time to stroll around Longyearbyen or visit the Svalbard Museum, which is well worth seeing. Embarkation around 4 p.m., in the early evening it is time to cast off. Cruise through the Isfjorden. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 2 Day 2-6: In Search Of The Arctic Wildlife
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2-6: In Search Of The Arctic Wildlife

The program for the next few days will be determined entirely by the ice conditions and the animal observation opportunities. The experienced expedition leader always determines the schedule for the next day at short notice in order to give you the best possible chance of spotting polar bears. Possible destinations and landing points on the trip could be:Raudfjord: Not only are polar bears often spotted in the glacier-dominated fjord, it is also popular with bearded seals and ringed seals, which rest on the ice floes floating here. Seabirds nest in the cliffs along the coastline and the first delicate green of Arctic vegetation can be found in small, sheltered niches. Monaco Glacier: At the end of Liefdefjorden, the 5 km long front of the Monaco Glacier pushes into the sea. When cruising in front of the enormous glacier edge, you can watch kittiwakes fishing and in recent years polar bears have often been spotted here in unique photographic surroundings.Hinlopen Strait: The Hinlopen Strait is only open to ships for a few weeks of the year. The impressive drift ice fields invite you to take a Zodiac tour around the sometimes huge, sometimes tiny chunks of ice. Bearded seals and ringed seals are often observed here, but polar bears and the rare ivory gull can also be spotted here with a bit of luck. In the Palanderbukta on Nordaustlandet, reindeer, short-billed geese and walruses can be observed.in the pack ice: Depending on where the ice edge is, try to spend a few hours or even days (on average approx. 2 days) along the ice edge. There are usually no landings on these days. You can enjoy the silence and beauty of the Arctic in peace and look out for animals. Roseate and ivory gulls also have their habitat here in the north, as do fin whales and humpback whales. The rare bowhead whales also find nutrient-rich food sources along the ice edge and can be spotted with luck. 5 nights on board.

  • Day 3 Day 7: Return To The South
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Return To The South

A large group of walruses often rest on the shores of Forlandsundet. Alternatively, you can visit the St. Johns Fjord or take a short hike to the bird colony at Alkhornet, where Arctic foxes often search the foot of the cliffs for fallen young birds and eggs. Svalbard reindeer also often graze on the meadows here. You reach the port of Longyearbyen around midnight. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 4 Day 8: Return Home
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Return Home

Disembarkation depending on flight time (breakfast is not included for night flights) and individual journey home.
