From poultry to vegetables, spices and pottery to pretty jewelry, you can buy everything for everyday use here. The fetish market offers countless different ingredients for voodoo ceremonies and other rituals. On your way to Kloto, north of Lome, evergreen rainforests and small villages pass by.       Before continuing to Ouidah in Benin, attend a voodoo ceremony. Ouidah - former capital of the Sahe Kingdom (16th century) is better known as a collection center of African slaves in the 18th century. Visiting the Portuguese fort and the historical museum of the city you will get an insight into the history of the slave trade. Be fascinated by the snakes in the Temple of Python as well as the statues of the gods in the "Sacred Grove". Afterwards you follow the traces of the slaves on the way to the coast up to the "Porte de Non Retour". Overnight stay at the Hotel Djegba. (Travel time about 3h, 100 km).

      In the morning, visit palace ruins and tombs of Abomey, past capital of the ancient kingdom of Dahomey (UNESCO World Heritage Site). You will continue to the north of Benin and stop at one of the places where voodoo is still practiced. At the Dankoli shrine, pilgrims pounded thousands of wooden sticks into the ground, which together with blood, palm oil and the local liqueur Sodabi form a large mountain. Even today, animal sacrifices take place here from time to time. Arrival in Djougou in the late afternoon. Overnight stay at the Motel du Lac. (Travel time about 7h, 380 km).

The upper village is inhabited by fetish priests who traditionally dress in goat skin. Continuing to Natitingou, the capital of the Atakora region, you will visit a village of the Fulani pastoralist people. The nomadic community is governed by strict laws, and those who do not abide by them are excluded. Across the border, in the middle of the African savannah, live the Dagomba people. Nearby you will visit a small village where only witches live. Continue to Tamale. Arriving at Mole National Park, you will check into your accommodation. Today and tomorrow you will go on foot game drive in the afternoon and with the sunrise. If you have a chance, today you will take part in a traditional funeral - the Ashanti Funeral: the celebration with splendid red or black dresses and colorful umbrellas is accompanied by the rhythms of drums.
