      Day 1: Lille

      Today weโ€™ll meet with the group in Lille and enjoy an included welcome dinner together. Over the following days, weโ€™ll visit the principal areas of British, Commonwealth (Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, South African and Indian) and American involvement across the Western Front. With a unique opportunity to see the memorials to each countryโ€™s fallen, this guided tour will offer an unforgettable experience to those wishing to gain a greater understanding of WWI.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Lille - The Somme - Amiens

      Day 2: Lille - The Somme - Amiens

      Weโ€™ll commence our first day by exploring the region of the Somme, which is infamous for the great losses suffered on the first day of battle, 1 July 1916. Weโ€™ll make stops at Newfoundland Memorial Park, where the original trench lines have been preserved, the Ulster Tower and the Poziรจres Cemetery. Afterwards, weโ€™ll complete our day at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme before heading to Amiens for our overnight stay. After an insightful and history-filled day, youโ€™ll be free to rest easy and enjoy time at your own leisure.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Amiens - Villers Bretonneux - Ypres

      Day 3: Amiens - Villers Bretonneux - Ypres

      Today weโ€™ll leave Amiens and travel to the Australian National War Memorial and Cemetery at Villers-Bretonneux. Later, weโ€™ll take time to visit the Canadian Memorial Park on Vimy Ridge before we reach Ypres.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Ypres - Ypres Salient - Menin Gate - Ypres

      Day 4: Ypres - Ypres Salient - Menin Gate - Ypres

      The beautiful city of Ypres was totally destroyed during the war, and sits in the epicentre of British endeavours during four long years of conflict. There is much to see around Ypres, including John McCraeโ€™s Dressing Station at Essex Farm Cemetery, the German Cemetery at Langemark, Vancouver Corner and the Hooge Crater trenches museum. As a fitting end to the day, youโ€™ll be invited to attend the daily playing of the Last Post under the Menin Gate Memorial.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Ypres - Fromelles - Lille

      Day 5: Ypres - Fromelles - Lille

      Weโ€™ll spend today exploring Hill 60 and the area around Fromelles, VC Corner and the Australian Memorial Park. Weโ€™ll also visit the recent exhibition commemorating the finding of 250 previously unknown sets of remains in 2009 (and their now marked burial place) at Pheasant Wood Cemetery. Later, our tour will end in Lille, where weโ€™ll say farewell to the group.
