      awaits you today with rich treasures of Byzantine art and culture in the cityโ€™s Archaeological Museum. AgiosIoannis Cathedral was a monastery until the 18th century and still holds very well preserved frescoes, which you will visit. In the afternoon you will have time for shopping or relaxing in one of the beautiful street cafes. In the evening you will stop at a typical taverna, where a classic Cypriot dish awaits you. How about a hearty, tasty stew or a traditional halloumi dish? (B/A)

      Day 3: Nicosia - Bellapais - Kyrenia

      A tale of two cities: Nicosia is the last divided capital in Europe, a bustling center of old and new. Today you will cross the border crossing on foot and enter the oriental-influenced, Turkish-occupied part of the island. You will visit Ayia Sophia Cathedral as well as the caravanserai. The visit to Bellapais Monastery, built in Gothic style, will take you back to past times. Walk through the ruins of the imposing cloister and enjoy the view over the countryside. At the foot of the Pentadaktylos Mountains lies Kyrenia. The medieval fortress, the small houses in the narrow streets and the horseshoe-shaped harbor with its colorful fishing boats invite you to linger. (B/A)

      The day is yours: Visit the Icon Museum with the most beautiful icons and mosaics of Cyprus and enjoy the flair of the old town district Laiki Gitonia. Or you can take an optional excursion with your tour guide to Famagusta and Salamis: Within the mighty walls of the old town of Famagusta you will visit, among other things, the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, a former Gothic cathedral. On the beach you can have a look at the ghost town of Varosha. Continue via Salamis, once the largest city in ancient Cyprus, to the Monastery of St. Barnabas (optional, bookable on site, min. 4 participants). (F)

      Day 5: Troodos Mountains

      You will drive to the Troodos Mountains. Marvel at the Asinou Church, one of the greatest art treasures of Cyprus, and the sophisticated murals of the church Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, which seems so inconspicuous from the outside. In the afternoon, there is time to explore the historic village center with traditional houses in the charming mountain village of Kakopetria. To end the day, visit the barn-roofed church of Panagia Poditou in Galata (all UNESCO World Heritage Sites). In the south of Cyprus, you will check into your hotel near the beach. 5 nights in Limassol. (B/A)

      In the morning you will visit the cave monastery of Saint Neofytos near Paphos. Then walk in the footsteps of Roman cultural history in Paphos (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Here, Greek history and mythology combine with Roman lifestyle at the time of the islandโ€™s emerging Christianity. One example is the magnificent royal tombs. A visit to the Roman Villas with their filigree floor mosaics remains a unique experience. The Odeon, carved out of limestone and more than 2,000 years old, will amaze you. (F)

      Day 7: Akamas Peninsula

      You will drive to the "Baths of Aphrodite", where the dramatic love story between the goddess Aphrodite and Adonis is said to have once taken place. A beautiful nature trail with impressive views is recommended for a relaxing walk. Not far away you can enjoy some free time in the picturesque harbor of Latchi before the excursion boat picks you up for a dreamlike tour along the Akamas peninsula (weather permitting). In the crystal clear water of the "Blue Lagoon" you can dare a jump into the cool water afterwards. On the way back you will stop in Peyia and enjoy the fantastic view with ouzo, fresh fruits and Cypriot delicacies. (F)

      Day 8: Diarizos Valley And Kykkos Monastery

      Through the beautiful Diarizos valley you will reach the Venetian bridge Zelefos in the middle of nature. Your guide will accompany you on a walk through the forest and explain the peculiarities of the flora and fauna. Afterwards you will visit the Kykkos Monastery, for which the superlatives "most famous", "richest" and "most beautiful" monastery of the island are often used. Numerous pilgrims worship here the legendary icon of the Virgin Mary, before which, according to legend, even the pine trees bow down. In Omodos, one of the most charming wine villages in the Troodos, visit the Monastery of the Holy Cross and the medieval wine press. Be enchanted by the charm of the traditional houses and courtyards! Finally, you will taste different wines at a wine tasting. (F)

  • Day 9 Day 9: Kourion And Colossi

      Day 9: Kourion And Colossi

      Along the south coast today you will discover more evidence of the history of Cyprus: you will explore the treasures of the archaeological site of Kourion with the ancient theater and the house of Eustolios. Then you will continue to the medieval fortress of Kolossi, which was famous for the production of wine and cane sugar. At a nearby plantation you will have the opportunity to harvest and taste tasty fruits. Afterwards, you will be warmly welcomed by a local family in Apsiou. Learn together how to prepare local specialties and end the day with a typical "meze" in a cozy atmosphere. (B/A)
