  • Day 2 Day 2: From Umeรฅ To Lycksele
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: From Umeรฅ To Lycksele

On an approximately one-hour tour, you will get to know the largest city in northern Sweden, which holds the title of European Capital of Culture 2014, and its architecture. Modern or quite "daring" buildings such as the art museum, the design college, the Vรคven cultural center or the historic buildings such as the old train station and the town hall along the waterfront are complemented by attractive works of art. Umeรฅ has a strong influx of people from home and abroad, and the university and university hospital maintain a high standard. Then you head inland. Todayโ€™s destination is Lycksele, an important winter sports center and one of the oldest towns in Lapland. A bridge leads to the town center for an individual tour. As soon as the river is properly frozen over, you can also get to the center on a tracked track with the Spark, the Nordic pedal sledge.

      Meals
Breakfast and dinner are included in the price.

      Accommodation
      Hotell Lappland
Hotell Lappland is beautifully situated in Lycksele on the banks of the Umeรคlven river and is a true oasis of peace and relaxation. The accommodation offers a swimming pool with panoramic windows and a view of the river, whirlpools, a fitness room, a sauna and a relaxation area. Each room is decorated in a Nordic design and has a sofa. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. In the 64 Grader restaurant, you will be spoiled with regional meat, fish and mushroom products from Lapland. Let yourself be surprised by the flavors and tastes of Norrland. If you feel like it, you can end the day in the brand new Sele Spa Club (for an extra charge).

      Notes
The driving distance is approx. 140 km.
  • Day 3 Day 3: With The Huskies Through Wild Lapland
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: With The Huskies Through Wild Lapland

You are already in the sparsely populated part of Lapland, as two percent of Swedenโ€™s population lives on 50 percent of the countryโ€™s surface area. It really does feel like Europeโ€™s Alaska. It is rightly said that in some parts of Swedish Lapland there are more huskies than people. Today you have the opportunity to get to know this special breed of dog better. Immediately after breakfast, you will head to a husky farm in the historic province of Lapland, where 36 Alaskan huskies and a real musher (dog sled guide) are at home. Huskies are extremely gentle and intelligent sled dogs and are also very people-friendly. Even people who are not necessarily dog lovers get on well with huskies. Your dog sled guide Morgan has been awarded the rare "Natures Best" certificate. This guarantees the species-appropriate handling of huskies. And you can tell by looking at them that the animals feel very comfortable in this climate. After you have got to know the animals a little and helped them put on their harnesses, off you go! On a tried and tested route through forests, over frozen lakes and moors, you will drive the dog sled through the typical landscape of Lapland. You drive in a so-called duo drive and take turns driving the sled along the way. One special feature is the seats in the dog sled, which are unique compared to other providers in terms of safety and comfort. You spend a good four hours on the husky farm. You will be back in Lycksele in the afternoon.

      Meals
Breakfast, lunch in the wild and dinner are included in the price. In the middle of the wilderness, you will be served a simple lunch over an open fire on a muurikka, a Finnish cast-iron grill pan.

      Accommodation
      Hotell Lappland [overnight stay]
The Hotell Lappland is also your accommodation today.

      Notes
The route is approx. 70 km.
Before the dog sled ride, you will be given special clothing consisting of boots, overalls, gloves and a hat, as well as a briefing on dog sledding. During the husky tour, you will ride in a duo drive, which means that two people use one sled and take turns steering the sled on the way. The person steering the sled stands on the runners at the back, while the second person sits at the front of the sled.
  • Day 4 Day 4: From Lycksele To Luleรฅ
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: From Lycksele To Luleรฅ

With the huskies in mind, we now delve a little further into Lapland. Small villages such as Norsjรถ and Glommertrรคsk show the extensive settlement of this region. It is understood that two percent of the Swedish population inhabits half of the country. The mouth of the natural national river Piteรคlv looks like a lake. The town at the mouth is called Piteรฅ. Here you reach the Baltic Sea again, with its fjords and rugged coastline. Perhaps you would like to try pitepalt, the northern Swedish version of stuffed potato dumplings, during a break in Piteรฅ. The Arctic is not far away. First of all, we head towards Luleรฅ. About 15 minutes by car from todayโ€™s Luleรฅ, you can stroll through the old town center. With around 400 red wooden huts, Gammelstad is the largest preserved church village in Northern Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your tour guide has several interesting stories to tell about a church and a non-existent harbor. Be curious!

      Meals
      Breakfast and dinner are included.

      Accommodation
      Elite Stadshotellet
The Elite Stadshotellet is centrally located by the beautiful Stadsparken in Luleรฅ. The city was voted one of Swedenโ€™s most liveable cities in 2023 alongside Umeรฅ. The historic building dates from the early 20th century and has one of the best-preserved banquet halls in Norrland, the Festivitetssalen, with glittering chandeliers and beautiful decorations. The hotelโ€™s breakfast buffet is served here every morning, so you can start the day in elegant surroundings. Each room is decorated in a Nordic design. The eco-friendly accommodation is certified with the Green Key Eco label.

      Notes
The driving distance is approx. 280 km.
  • Day 5 Day 5: From Luleรฅ Via The Arctic Circle And Jokkmokk To Kiruna
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: From Luleรฅ Via The Arctic Circle And Jokkmokk To Kiruna

The route along the River Luleรคlv further and further north leads to Via Lappia, the Lapland Route, and you enter the European Arctic. This name may sound unfamiliar, but once you cross the Arctic Circle, you are in the Arctic. We stop at the official Arctic Circle, a short Arctic Circle baptism is a matter of course. In Jokkmokk you visit the รjtte Museum. The Sami village takes its name from the syllables "jokk" (river) and "mokk" (trading place) and is the meeting place of the Sami. รjtte is the main museum for Sami culture and provides a wealth of knowledge. The Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland, were nomads and lived from reindeer herding, as the reindeer is an animal that lives and survives in this climate. The Sami were assimilated into the Swedish culture through the colonization of northern Scandinavia by the Swedes, the so-called new settlers. Today, the Sami in turn have an awakened awareness of their own culture, which was and is lived in the north of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. The lives of the Sami are steeped in myth. Here at the รjtte Museum you can learn more about the culture and life of the Sami. As you continue north along the Via Lappia, if visibility is good, you can always spot the mountains of the mighty Sarek National Park, the last European wilderness. This is practically on your doorstep. In the afternoon you reach Kiruna, Swedenโ€™s northernmost city. If the weather cooperates, you and your tour guide will set off on foot in the evening in search of the Northern Lights, scientifically known as Aurora borealis, in the area surrounding your accommodation. Aurora borealis - what magic lies in this word! A celestial phenomenon moves people and has always created expectations, fear, enthusiasm and even spiritual thoughts. You will learn how the phenomenon of the aurora borealis is created and, with a bit of luck, you will see this special glow in the sky, one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the world. Kiruna is one of the most intense regions for the Northern Lights and, if the sky is clear, it can be seen on many days in winter.

      Meals
      Breakfast and dinner are included.

      Accommodation
      Camp Ripan
The family-run Camp Ripan is located in the middle of a mountain landscape on the outskirts of Kiruna. The name Kiruna is derived from the Sami word giron (ptarmigan). Ripan in turn means "ptarmigan" in Swedish. The Lind family is now the second generation to run the accommodation with siblings Dennis and Frida. The familyโ€™s philosophy is to introduce guests to the characteristics of the region. This includes the mix of different cultures in and around Kiruna, but also the mix of guests from near and far. The proximity to nature is also reflected in every corner of the hotel, from the design to the fantastic cuisine of the Ripan restaurant, which serves dishes ranging from fish to reindeer. The kitchen team attaches great importance to using regional and environmentally friendly products. The hotel village consists of wooden chalets that offer comfortable living and plenty of space. This is a particular advantage in winter, as winter clothing takes up a little more space. There are two to four accommodation units in each chalet, each with its own entrance from the outside.

      Notes
The driving distance is approx. 400 km.
Your tour guide will decide when the walk in search of the Northern Lights is most suitable. Unfortunately, it is not possible to see the Northern Lights if it is very cloudy or snowing. In this case, your tour guide will try to make this experience possible for you on another evening.
  • Day 6 Day 6: Moose, Icehotel And Kiruna
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Moose, Icehotel And Kiruna

You are now 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle and the highlights continue to shake hands. In the direction of Nikkaluokta, you set off in search of moose. In winter, the moose from the region head to this valley, as they find shelter and sufficient food here as soon as the amount of snow in the mountains becomes too great. The route goes as far as the village of Puoltsa, where there is a good chance of spotting moose. You will also get to know the small village of Jukkasjรคrvi today. The famous Icehotel is located here. Every year, artists from all over the world build the so-called ice art suites according to their own ideas. With "Snice" you can create fantasy figures of fabulous expressiveness. "Snice" is a mixture of the English words snow and ice. Part of the original Icehotel - now often copied but never equaled - has been part of the Icehotel 365 for several years. Some of the art suites are kept under a climate-neutral cover all year round. A tour of this extraordinary hotel will leave you in awe. In the afternoon, itโ€™s "Kiruna for you". You have time for a walk through the residential areas with their traditional wooden houses or you can hire a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis from the sports department at your accommodation (for an extra charge). There are winter trails and cross-country ski trails right on the doorstep. If you like, you can go in search of the Northern Lights after dark.

      Meals
      Breakfast and dinner are included.

      Accommodation
      Camp Ripan [overnight stay]
Camp Ripan is also your accommodation today.

      Notes
The driving distance is approx. 130 km.
  • Day 7 Day 7: Through The Finnish Tundra To Tromsรธ In Norway
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Through The Finnish Tundra To Tromsรธ In Norway

From Kiruna you head north to the border of Finland with the border rivers Kรถnkรคmรค รคlv, Muonioรคlven and Torne รคlv. Muonioรคlven and Torneรคlven are among the last unregulated rivers in Europe. In Karesuando you cross the border and enter the Finnish tundra. Nature presents itself in a variety of guises and your surroundings are constantly changing. Just before the small village of Kilpisjรคrvi is the home and reindeer farm of Mia and Niti Vasara. Mia and Niti are passionate about sharing their Sami heritage and telling you interesting facts about their culture and, of course, their beloved reindeer. You will have the opportunity to enter the enclosure to experience the deer living in the far north up close. You then make your way to Norway. In Skibotn, you will see the first fjord of your journey. Once again, nature changes dramatically. The Lyngenfjord is a 121 km long fjord whose surroundings are among the regions with the lowest precipitation in northern Norway, so there is usually little snow here. Continue along the Atlantic shore to Tromsรธ. You reach the secret capital of the European Arctic in the evening.

      Meals
Breakfast and dinner are included in the price.

      Accommodation
Enter St. Elisabeth Hotel & Suites
The Enter St. Elisabeth Hotel & Suites is situated in a quiet location on the main island of Tromsรธya. Attractions such as the Polaria Museum on the shore of the Sound and Tromsรธ Cathedral in the center of Tromsรธ are about a 10-minute walk away. • Day 8 Day 8: Tromsรธ, The City Of The Arctic Ocean
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Tromsรธ, The City Of The Arctic Ocean

Tromsรธ is a lively university town on the Arctic Ocean. Alongside Umeรฅ, where your journey began, Tromsรธ is also one of the cities worth visiting on the northern Scandinavian peninsula. However, Tromsรธ is even more magnificently embedded in the nature of the wild Arctic coast of the Atlantic Ocean, which is what makes it so fascinating. Legendary expeditions into the eternal ice started from here. The Polar Museum and the Tromsรธ University Museum tell of this time. The historic town center with Tromsรธ Cathedral is located on the island of the same name in the middle of the strait. Incidentally, the Sami inhabited the coasts as fishermen and the inland as reindeer herders long before Scandinavian peoples discovered the north for themselves. Feel free to ask your tour guide questions during a tour of the city. In the afternoon, there is time to explore on your own. If the weather is good, be sure to take a walk across the Tromsรธ Bridge to the Arctic Cathedral. But the day is far from over. Once again, you will go in search of the Northern Lights, as Tromsรธ is also located in the heart of the aurora borealis belt. An electric catamaran takes you on a round trip through the Tromsรธ Fjord. Before you devote yourself to the northern sky, you can enjoy the sparkling panorama of Tromsรธ. After just a short time, we leave the city lights behind us and, with a bit of luck, can see the Northern Lights dancing. While the captain looks out for the Northern Lights, you will be served an Arctic dinner. Meanwhile, the panoramic windows offer exciting views of the snow-covered mountain landscape surrounding the fjord in the dark. We sail silently through the fjord for around three and a half hours. See Tromsรธ from a completely different perspective and enjoy the silence.

      Meals
Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. At the farewell dinner during the evening cruise, you will be treated to an arctic 3-course fjord menu.

      Accommodation
Enter St. Elisabeth Hotel & Suites [overnight stay]
The Enter St. Elisabeth Hotel & Suites is also your accommodation today.
