About experience

Day 1

Nairobi-Kisumu
Pick up from your location at 0700 hours and head to Kisumu with a stop-over at Nakuru for a midmorning snack. Arrive at Kisumu and check in at Victoria Suittes/Acacia premier Hotel for lunch then have a city tour visiting Kisumu Museum.
Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

Day2
Kisumu โ€“Ndere island โ€“Kakamega
After breakfast drive to Kaloka beach, take a boat to Ndere Island national park see some game and bird life. Row the boat back to Kaloka beach. Drive via Kit- Mikaye ( This rock is where Mikaye the mother of Luo tribe sheltered herself after along journey down the Nile) drive back to Kisumu for Lunch. Kisumu tour takes you to Impala park, Kisumu Museum and Dunga beach are optional. Drive to Kakamega arriving late evening, dinner and overnight.
Dinner and overnight at the Golf Hotel Kakamega.

Day 3
Kakamega Forest
After breakfast, full day exploration of Kakamega forest in search of birds, butterflies and animals such as debraza, colobus, blue and red tailed monkeys and olive baboons. Over 30 varieties of snakes including the deadly gaboon viper, Jamesons mamba and black mamba are found here among other animals. Great and very old indigenous trees, some are hundreds of years old.
Return to the lodge for overnight after a very long day.

Day 4
Kakamega-Homabay
Depart Kakamega early and drive southwards to Homabay through the rice plantations in kano plains. Make a brief stop at Kendu bay for lunch and then proceed to Lake Simbi Nyaima for bird viewing, continue to Kanjira and Kanam hot springs onto Homa bay. Dinner and overnight at Coldsprings hotel.

Day 5
Homabay โ€“Rusinga Island
Afterbreakfast, you will check out from the hotel then proceed to Mbita for lunch and later to Rusinga Island via a boat. Dinner and overnight will be at Rusinga Island Lodge.

Day 6
Rusinga Island Lodge
After breakfast, relax at the lodge at your own time, optional activities at the Lodge like bird watching, and fishing will be available. Birdlife around Rusinga is spectacular, encouraging even the most reluctant birder, from stately fish eagles (which nest within the grounds) and elusive double-toothed barbets to tiny iridescentsunbirdsandarrow-fastkingfishers.
At Rusinga Island there is a wide selection of water sports equipment available to suite both the serious, enthusiast and the first timer. Jet-Ski, Water-skis, Mono-skis, Kneeboard, Banana, Kayaks as well as leisure. Boat ride to the nearby white sandy beaches all make for a fun, invigorating morning out on the lake. The best time for these activities is between 07.00 to 10.00am when the lake is generally calm. Sometimes the activities can go on until around 13.00 hours before the water current starts becoming rough.
All meals and overnight at Rusinga Island Lodge on full board basis.

Day 7
Rusinga - Ruma National park
Wake up at 6:00am in preparation for a game drive at Ruma National Park.
Guests wishing to visit Ruma leave the lodge by speedboat at 6.30am. After a 40-minute boat ride on the lake (early mornings are usually calm on the lake), a Rusinga 4ร—4 will meet you at the lakeshore for the short 30-minute drive to the park. En route youโ€™ll see typical Luo homesteads. After exploring the park and its inhabitants enjoy a hearty bush breakfast before heading back to the lakeshore for the return boat ride to the lodge, arriving around lunchtime.

Day 8
Rusinga-Nairobi
Leave early in the morning by road to Nairobi through the tea plantations in Kericho.
This is the end of our trip.
