      Arrival in the countryโ€™s capital and transfer to the hotel. There is plenty of time to explore the city on your own. In the evening, you will go on a street food tour through Kuala Lumpur. Get to know the city from its most beautiful side and sample traditional dishes at various cookshops. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Day 3: The Treasures Of Kuala Lumpur

      On a city tour, you will explore the most important sights of Kuala Lumpur such as the central market, the Jamek Mosque, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple. In Little India and Chinatown, immerse yourself in the various religions that are indigenous to Malaysia. Then visit the famous Batu Caves, one of the most important Hindu temples outside India. The colorful temple is located in a cave that can be reached via about 272 steps. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      Transfer to the airport and onward flight to Borneo. You will be warmly welcomed at Kota Kinabalu airport and taken to your hotel. The central location of your accommodation is ideal for an afternoon stroll through the city. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, 30 km).

      You drive to Tambunan, a real secret spot in the region. Visit a small village surrounded by rice fields and the Mahua waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the natural pools of the waterfall and enjoy the idyllic surroundings in the middle of the rainforest. Then drive to Kundasang in Kinabalu National Park. In idyllic surroundings, you have a fantastic view of the majestic Mt. Kinabalu. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Day 6: Hot Springs And Kinabalu National Park

      You drive to the hot springs near Mt Kinabalu National Park. The path takes you over several suspension bridges and under the treetops. Then continue to Mt Kinabalu National Park, home to the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. Hike through the national park and learn more about the flora and fauna in the botanical garden. Continue your journey to a tea plantation where the famous Sabah tea is produced. Learn more about the cultivation of tea on a tour. You will spend the night in a traditional longhouse. These are typical on Borneo and usually several families live together in separate dwellings. Life takes place in the corridors of the longhouse, where children play, baskets are woven and nets are prepared for fishing. Overnight stay in the longhouse. (Travel time approx. 1.5 hours, 75 km).

      You say goodbye to the friendly villagers and continue your Borneo round trip to Sandakan. You stop in a village on the way and visit the proboscis monkey center in Labuk Bay after your arrival. Observe the endemic species of monkey on Borneo. Injured animals are reared at the center and prepared for release into the wild. With a bit of luck, you may also spot silver crested langurs. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 4 hours, 235 km).

      Day 8: Exploration Tour In Sandakan

      You will go on a city tour of Sandakan with St. Michaelโ€™s Church, the central market and several temples. You then visit the village of Sim-Sim. This was built entirely on stilts on the sea. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

  • Day 9 Day 9: Sepilok - Kinabatangan

      Day 9: Sepilok - Kinabatangan

      You visit the Sepilok Orangutan Center, where efforts are being made to protect these endangered animals. Next door, at the Malayan Bear Center, animals found injured in the rainforest are cared for and prepared for release into the wild. You then continue to the next lodge, which is located on the banks of the Kinabatangan River. A river safari awaits you, during which you look out for the ten local primate species. Other animals such as elephants, hornbills and many other bird species may also cross your path. The river with its embankments is ideal for wildlife spotting. Nocturnal animals can be observed particularly well at dusk and at night. Overnight stay in a lodge to the sounds of the rainforest at night. (Travel time approx. 2.5 hours, 150 km).

      Day 10: River Safari On The Kinabatangan

      At dawn, you set off on another boat tour to Kelanap Oxbow Lake. Due to its remoteness, it has a completely different ecosystem to the river. You will then go on a hike through the rainforest. Your tour guide will show you a wide variety of plant and animal species. In the afternoon, you will board a boat again to observe the primates, which are particularly active at this time of day. With a bit of luck, you may also spot Borneo pygmy elephants. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      You leave the idyllic river landscape of Kinabatangan and drive to the Tabin Rainforest. The region is particularly known for its great biodiversity with elephants, Sunda clouded leopards, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, gibbons, otters and many more. In the afternoon, you will go on a hike through the rainforest to the mud volcano, where you can observe numerous animals during the day. In the evening, a lecture on the protected area awaits you, followed by a night hike to observe the animals. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Tabin Game Reserve - Kota Kinabalu

      Day 12: Tabin Game Reserve - Kota Kinabalu

      You leave the Tabin Conservation Area and drive to Lahad Datu to take a domestic flight to Kota Kinabalu. Once you arrive in Kota Kinabalu, you take the ferry to your eco-resort on Ara Dinawan Island. Your luxurious tent is already waiting for you, harmoniously embedded in the natural surroundings and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Idyllically situated in the middle of nature, spacious glamping tents with en-suite bathrooms and numerous activities on the island await you. Overnight stay in the tent camp.
