      Individual arrival to Kangerlussuaq. The town is a former US Air Force base and Greenlandโ€™s most important airfield. With 190 kilometers of magnificent scenery, the Kangerlussuaq Fjord (Sรธndre Strรธmfjord) is one of the longest fjords in the world, with Kangerlussuaq at its end. Optional excursion before embarkation to the Greenland Ice Sheet. You will begin your adventure with a passage of the dramatic fjord and crossing of the Arctic Circle. Overnight stay on board.

      You will reach the colorful city of Sisimiut (5400 inhabitants), an expression of modern Greenland and the second largest city in the country. On your city tour you will see the historic colonial quarter with 18th century town houses as well as the museum and the beautiful church. In the afternoon the journey continues north. Towards evening you will pass the Sisimiut-Isortuat fjord and the settlements of Attu, Ikerasaarsuk and Kangaatsiaq. During the light night you will enter the southern waters of the world famous Disko Bay. The ship sets course for Disko Island, known for its characteristic layered cliffs up to 1000 meters high. Enjoy the sight of the icebergs in Disko Bay, which feed from the Ilulissat Icefjord. Overnight stay on board.

      Your next shore leave will be at the southern tip of Disko Island, where the Ocean Atlantic will anchor in a protected natural harbor. Qeqertarsuaq has a long history and was once one of the countryโ€™s most important economic centers. During your visit, you will stroll through the town and visit the distinctive octagonal church and local community center. Here, a traditional Greenlandic "kaffemik" is held, a social gathering with coffee, cake and traditional dancing and music. Towards the end of the day you will set course for the huge Eqip Sermia glacier. This lies about 50 nautical miles north of Ilulissat and is known for its breathtaking beauty. You will cruise as close as possible to the ice edge, but at a safe distance from calving glaciers and sometimes violent waves. Overnight stay on board.

      Ilulissat simply means icebergs and the place is known as the capital of the same. The gigantic icebergs in the sea of Disko Bay originate from an ice fjord just half an hourโ€™s walk south of Ilulissat. These impressive frozen structures are "born" from the huge Sermeq-Kujalleq glacier about 70 km away in the fjord. All of its peculiarities, together with the unforgettable landscape of the fjord, have

      secured the Icefjord a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Ilulissat today is the third largest town in Greenland with more than 4500 inhabitants. On this day you have the opportunity to hike along the bay, join a boat trip to the ice fjord (optional) or even book a helicopter flight over the ice fjord (optional). Overnight stay on board.

Nuuk is the capital of Greenland and with 17000 inhabitants and one third of the countryโ€™s population, a real โ€™metropolisโ€™. The recent history of Greenland began in 1721, when the missionary Hans Egede established a permanent colony and trading station near Nuuk. In 1979, the parliament was established in Nuuk and the city was finally recognized as the countryโ€™s capital. In the afternoon, depart Nuuk and continue your journey south.       Early in the morning you will enter Eriksfjord and your ship will drop anchor off Qassiarsuk. This historically very important place is located at the spot where Erik the Red landed in Greenland around 985. He founded the settlement of Brattahlรญรฐ here, where Greenlandโ€™s first church was also built. From Brattahlรญรฐ, Erikโ€™s son Leif Eriksson went west around 1000 AD and discovered Baffin Island and the coast of Labrador and Newfoundland. After your visit to Brattahlid you will leave Eriksfjord. Overnight stay on board.

      Cape Farvel or Cape Farewell is not only known as the southernmost point of Greenland, but also for its notorious, albeit seasonal, gale force winds. Youโ€™ll deliberately take the much more comfortable yet spectacular route, which takes you through the inner passage of Prince Christian Sound. This 60 km waterway stretches from the settlement of Aapilattoq in the heart of the fjord landscape of southwest Greenland to the Atlantic Ocean in the east. Overnight stay on board.

      Skjoldungen Island is without doubt one of the most beautiful areas of East Greenland. Located at 63ยฐ North, the island is surrounded by narrow, steep fjords and glaciers. Nevertheless, you will experience a more lush landscape and a milder climate than you would expect. Skjoldungen is also the name of an abandoned settlement, up to 100 people lived here until 1965, some houses are preserved. You will continue your journey to Dronning Marie Dal in the northwest of Skjoldungen for a closer look at the interesting flora. Overnight stay on board.
