Panorama Route - Kruger National Park 1ร—F

The good Lord has it good when he looks out of the window, because the views of the Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, from God`s Window are simply magical. Tom Bourke also had a bit of luck when he found a few crumbs of gold, and the place henceforth bore his name "Bourkes` Luck Potholes". Bourkes` Luck Potholes" refers to the potholes that were formed at the confluence of the Blyde and Treur rivers. So much nature must be processed first of all and therefore you lean back and let the animal world of Africa pass by. Whereby the time for this is actually much too bad, because during a game drive in the Kruger National Park every eye is needed to look for the animals. Overnight stay in the Berg en Dal Restcamp directly in the National Park. (Travel time approx. 3-4h, 250 km plus game drives).

What seems like a mouthful is one of the oldest game reserves in Africa. You will not be able to explore the entire 96,000 hectares in one morning, but sightings of white and black rhinos are almost guaranteed. The Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve is known for its successful protection of these animals. The next tongue twister is already waiting, the iSimangaliso-Wetland Park. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1999, it means "miracle" in Zulu. And a miracle it is, too, when hippos, crocodiles, cormorants and herons frolic photogenically in front of your lens during the boat trip. 2 nights at Ezulwini Lodge. (Drive time approx. 5-6h, 440 km).

But today you will not stop at dreaming and so you will set off for the Kingdom of Lesotho - the southernmost landlocked country in the world. Due to its special altitude it is also called the "Kingdom in the Sky". With an abundance of natural beauty, flora, fauna and cultural heritage, it represents another highlight of your trip. What do elephants and dung beetles have in common? Thatโ€™s right, they are the stars of the Addo Elephant National Park. There are more than 600 of these gray giants, and the pill borer beetle makes use of their remains. There are even special road signs for the flightless dung beetle, because the Addo Dung Beetle always has the right of way and so it may be that your travel vehicle has to stop several times during the afternoon game drive. But you wouldnโ€™t be in Africa if time were of the essence. And so buffalos, lions, jackals, zebras and ostriches are already getting into position. Since you are lucky enough to stay in the national park, there is still a great scenery at the illuminated waterhole in the evening. Optionally you can book a sunset drive in an open safari vehicle (approx. 40 โ‚ฌ p.p., advance booking recommended). Overnight stay at Addo Elephant Restcamp. Here you can take a boat trip to Duiker Island (optional) to observe the sea lions. The pass road Chapman`s Peak Drive will make you sweat afterwards, because its slopes are steep. But this is nothing compared to the worries Diaz had to face when he sailed around the Cape for the first time in 1488. Not for nothing did he call it the "Cape of Storms.
