      Day 1: Flight To Sao Vicente

      Flight via Lisbon to Sao Vicente, arrival around noon. Transfer to the hotel in Mindelo, the "secret capital" of Cape Verde. For centuries Mindelo was an important shipping hub and a melting pot of cultures between continents.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Transfer To Santo Antao

      Day 2: Transfer To Santo Antao

      By ferry to the neighboring island of Santo Antao (about 1 hour). From Porto Novo we drive on steep passes to Ribeira Grande and further to Coculi. From there we hike in gentle ups and downs through the fertile valley of Figuera to the valley Cha de Pedras. The region is characterized by intensive agriculture: Corn, beans, cassava, sweet potatoes and sugar cane, among others, are cultivated here. Again and again we pass through original villages. Afterwards we continue our journey to Ponta do Sol. 3 nights.

      Day 3: Along The Wild Cliffs

      Short climb to the village of Fontainhas, which sticks to the rock faces like a birdโ€™s nest. On steep slopes exposed to the influence of the sea, a special, salt-tolerant flora grows. After crossing a ridge, we approach the spectacular cliffs and hike partly near the surf, partly high above sea level. Fantastic views across the Atlantic. Drive back to Ponta do Sol.

  • Day 4 Day 4: With The Locals In The Fishing Village

      Day 4: With The Locals In The Fishing Village

      In the morning we can watch the fishermen entering the harbor of Ponta do Sol and have a good time with grilled sawfish in one of the small cafes on the promenade during the day. If you feel like more activity, you can snorkel on the rocky coast, take a short hike in the Ribeira Grande or explore the extinct Espadana crater on a mountain bike tour (optional).

  • Day 5 Day 5: In Ribeira Do Paul

      Day 5: In Ribeira Do Paul

      Drive via Ribeira Grande and Vila das Pombas to Boca de Figueral. From here we walk through the Ribeira do Paul, the greenest and most intensively cultivated valley of Santo Antao. Through small settlements, surrounded by mango and breadfruit trees, and agricultural cultivation areas (bananas, sugar cane, vegetables) we hike up towards Pico de Antonio. Our destination is the end of the valley with the village of Cha Manuel do Santos. Return to Ponta do Sol, visiting a grogue distillery on the way. Drive to Porto Novo.

      Day 6: The Valley Of Ribeira Das Patas

      Already the drive to the beginning of the hike is an experience. This leads us through desert-like landscape to a rugged mountain range. A pass road flanked by steep peaks leads through the rugged rocky landscape to the fertile, green Ribeira das Patas valley. Via mule tracks, we climb up to Bordera do Norte and descend again to the valley via a spectacular cobblestone path.

      Ferry crossing to Sao Vicente. In Mindelo we will see the lively fish market and the colorful houses of the old town and walk in the footsteps of Mindeloโ€™s great past, when steamships stopped here to bunker coal and supplies during the Atlantic crossing.

      Morning climb over steep ash fields and scree slopes to the crater rim. Overwhelming view from the second highest mountain in the Atlantic. Below us the crater with sulfur deposits and the wide caldera, in the distance the endless sea. The descent over the loose lava fields goes like in flight. Guests who would like to experience this grandiose volcanic landscape a little less sweaty can participate in an exciting hike with a local guide in the Caldeira. Afterwards drive to Sao Filipe.

      Today we drive to Ribeira Filipe, from where we take a scenic hike through fertile valleys down to the lava pools of Salinas (bathing). Afterwards we will drive to Sao Filipe and have a look at the capital of the island, which is considered the most beautiful city of Cape Verde with its beautiful colonial houses and the lively market.
