No longer forbidden to enter and no longer a city, this site is steeped in history, as it is the former home to an ancient line of Chinese emperors. You’ll have time to take a look around and learn all about the ancient and modern histories that have taken place between its walls. After lunch, explore the World Heritage-listed Summer Palace and return to your hotel. Here you’re free to enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Today, discover China’s greatest icon, the Great Wall of China. Take in breathtaking views during a cable car ride to the Mutianyu section, one of the best-preserved parts of the wall. En route back to Beijing, stop at a cloisonné factory and enjoy a guided tour, learning about Chinese cloisonné.

Today will be spent exploring Shibaozhai, an isolated peak protruding from the northern bank of the Yangtze River.
