Flights

Flight to Faro and back Price examples from/to Frankfurt Airport. Prices are based on limited available airline fares. Surcharges are possible at any time. Other departure airports can be selected. If you booked your flights through ASI Reisen, you will be picked up at Faro airport by a representative of ASI Reisen: Please turn left at the exit after baggage claim and head straight ahead for about 200m to the TUI information desk, where you will also see the ASI welcome sign. There you will be met and taken to the pick-up point. Since you will be arriving with different planes, there may be some waiting time. Afterwards bus or cab ride to our hotel (approx. 40 min.).

Efordeliche equipment daypack with approx. 30 litre volume, ankle-high mountain boots with tread sole, water bottle with minimum capacity of 1 litre capacity, practical hiking clothing (T-shirts, trekking trousers, hiking socks), warm accessories (pullover, hat, gloves), anorak (with hood) and overpants, wind and waterproof (e.g. goretex) sun protection (headgear, sunglasses, sunscreen), washing utensils and personal medication. Additional recommended equipment telescopic hiking poles as a walker, bath suits, functional underwear/clothing (breathable) rain cover for the backpack.       Flight to Faro. If you book your flight through ASI Reisen, you will be picked up at the airport by an ASI representative and driven to Tavira.

      In the morning we meet our ASI hiking guide at 08:45 at the reception. After the greeting we drive to the nearby Moncarapacho. In this rural area we hike up Cerro da Cabeรงa and enjoy a wide view of the coastal area and the Ria Formosa lagoon system. After descending, the rest of the trail follows narrow paths between houses and cultivated land with olive and carob trees. We walk a bit on the old Roman road. At noon we reach the small fishing village of Fuzeta.

      We drive to the area of Alte: in a small hamlet we start our hike that will take us to the top of the table mountain Rocha da Pena. But first we cross a valley, passing cultivated land and single farms, before the path climbs and we finally reach the summit palteau. What a magnificent view of the coast and the Serra de Mรบ! After the hike we visit the village of Alte.

      Saturday is market day in Olhรฃo. We will not miss it, the place is famous for its weekly market: a unique and more than rustic experience! Afterwards we take the ferry to the offshore sand island, which we cross. We will not miss the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat! Return by boat and bus to our hotel.

      After breakfast we will drive to Alportel. Our hike begins in the shade of eucalyptus and pine forests. The path leads us through the hilly hinterland of the Algarve, the landscape is characterized by reed-lined river courses, small hamlets and mighty cork oaks and eucalyptus trees.

      Day 6: Rock Towers In The Atlantic Ocean

      The parade hike par excellence awaits us today: uniquely beautiful is the rugged cliffs of the Algarve, rightly called one of the most beautiful coasts in Europe. We hike along the bizarre rock towers jutting into the sea, enjoying the sea breeze in our hair and the rough smell of salt in our nose. Finally, we reach Benagil: the small bathing bay invites us to swim and of course also has a restaurant where a table is ready for us.
