      Day 2: Vastly Land Namibia

Your tour guide is looking forward to meeting you at the Windhoek airport after landing. Your destination today is the Ouhave Country Home. At the latest after your arrival at the family farm you will be surrounded by Namibian coziness. From the verandas of the seven bungalows you can enjoy a wonderful view of the spacious farm with its beautiful garden, green lawn and swimming pool. Typical Namibian: First thing in the morning you start directly from your front door for a two-hour guided hike through the bush savannah. While you discover the extensive farm area with its many acacias, you will learn a lot of interesting facts about native plants and trees from your local tour guide. When the sun sends its warmest rays, it is best to relax in your accommodation. During a 1ยฝ-hour afternoon tour of the farm, you will learn a lot about the typical farm life and the cultivation of vegetables, which are used for their own consumption and, of course, in the delicious, typical farm cuisine. In addition, alfalfa is grown, because the farm animals should also have enough to eat. Afterwards we will visit the Nguni cattle, which are unmistakable because of the various colors and patterns of their fur. Did you know that these animals are known in Namibia especially for their hardiness? Hans Sohrada will tell you stories about his daily life and will be happy to share his knowledge about the daily life on a farm with you.

Look forward to a highlight: You will meet the Ju/Hoansi-San. The San are the oldest population group in Namibia and have been living in southern Africa for probably 20,000 years. The "living museum", which is run independently by the San, is built like in the old times of free nomadism. A hike of about one and a half hours starts here. The San explain and show you how to make fire, how to set traps and how to hunt with bow and arrow in the traditional way. The Chameleon Foundation has supported the San for several years by visiting the San Living Museum. In addition, shelters have been built for the San. The construction of a well was realized to provide the San with a regular water supply. Another highlight: In the best daylight you will explore the prehistoric rock paintings on the farm area of Omandumba on a two to three hour hike. On the way, the granite rocks of the Erongo will conjure up new sceneries again and again. From the Leopard Hill you can enjoy a 300-degree view of the wide Omandumba Valley. On the hike, a San will accompany you and explain the artistic and well-preserved paintings, some of which are unique in the world. Together you will look for animal tracks and your local guide will tell you about the daily life on a farm. Do you have questions about the "living museum" or the African bush? Your guide will be happy to answer them.
