ACCRA | GHANA

Arrive Accra, meet assist on arrival, and transfer to hotel. This evening there will be a welcome dinner plus an orientation session which includes a lecture/discussion on African culture. Tailors and dressmakers will be in attendance for those interested in custom made African outfits.

Day 2: ACCRA | ACCRACITY WALKING TOUR

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and museum, a tribute to Ghanaโ€™s first President. This park, formally called the Polo grounds, is where Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared the independence of Ghana.

Day 3: KUMASI | ASHANTI CRAFT VILLAGES | NTONSO ADINKRA TEXTILES | BONWIRE KENTE CLOTH

After breakfast, visit the Ashanti craft villages starting with the woodcarving village of Ahwiaa, known for the talented craftsmen who fashion royal stools, walking sticks and fertility dolls from wood; with the opportunity to purchase hand carved items of all kinds. The next stop is the village of Ntonso where artisanโ€™s hand-stamp patterns on cotton cloth to make Adinkra textiles.

Day 4 & 5 : KUMASI | THE ASHANTI KINGDOM | BONWIRE KENTE CLOTH

Manhyia Palace museum built as a residence for the Ashanti Kings โ€“ now a museum displaying the original furniture and assorted royal memorabilia.

Day 6 : KUMASI | BAPTISH CHURCH SERVICE | THE GREEN RANCH | HORSE EXPEDITION

This morning attend church service at a Baptist Church in Kumasi โ€“ socialize with members of the congregation to get a better understanding of daily life.

Day 7: ELIMINA CASTLE | ASSIN MANSO SLAVE MARKETS | ASSIN MANSO SLAVE RIVER

Early in the Morning we depart to Elmina.You will see the โ€œSlave Riverโ€ where captured Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean. This evening go on a guided tour through the ancient town of Elmina.

Day 8: THE CAPE COAST CASTLE | SLAVE DUNGEONS

Tour of Cape Coast Castle and the Castle Museum, Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the โ€œDoor of No Returnโ€. Attend a commemorative ceremony in the Cape Coast Castle Dungeons โ€“ ALL ARE requested to wear white.

Day 9: CAPE COAST | MESOMAGOR VILLAGE AFRICAN DRUM DANCE PERFORMANCE

Morning at leisure. In the afternoon visit The Human Service Trust Orphanage in Cape Coast; travelers can bring books; crayons or toys for the kids. In the evening enjoy a performance by the Bamboo Orchestra at their musical best.ย 

Day 10: CAPE COAST | ACCRA

Return to Accra, stop at the village of Abandze, the ancestral home of Louis Armstrong, the famous American jazz musician. Arrive in Accra late afternoon. Spend the day last minute shopping and packing- farewell dinner.Night beaches in Accra is a must thing to explore. The Labadi Beach and the Kokrobite Beaches are the hottest beaches for fun.

Day 11: ACCRA | DEPART Transfer to airport for flight back home.
