Rail travel from Edinburgh to Blair Atholl, a journey on the Kyle Line from Pitlochry to Attadale Gardens and journeys on the West Highland Line from Mallaig to Fort William and from Spean Bridge to Glasgow. Ferry travel from Skye to Mallaig Transfers as described. We work hard to make sure the unexpected doesnโ€™t affect your trip.   • Day 1 Day 1: Edinburgh
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Edinburgh

      Arrive in Scotlandโ€™s capital city - perhaps a day or two early to get to know the cobbled streets, twisted alleys and historical monuments. Do let us know if we can assist with any arrangements. 


      After settling into your centrally located accommodation, enjoy a group dinner with your fellow travellers and your tour leader that is bound to set the scene for the week to follow.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Scottish Highlands
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Scottish Highlands

      Your journey begins at Waverley Station where you board the train to Blair Atholl. A real highlight of the journey is crossing the iconic Forth Bridge - a true 19th century engineering marvel. After passing ancient towns and villages you will step off the train in Blair Atholl, nestled in the depths of the Highlands.

      Take a short walk to Blair Castle to explore the grand architecture and spectacular walled gardens - your tour guide will be on hand to share stories spanning generations. Next you will hop onto a private minibus to Pitlochry where you have the afternoon at leisure to explore this picturesque town, where highlights include the Tummel Suspension Bridge and the Explorers Garden. End your day with a visit to a local pub before retiring to your cosy guest house.  


      Dinner in a local restaurant is included this evening.

  • Day 3 Day 3: The Kyle Line

      Day 3: The Kyle Line

      Take the train through the wilderness of the Cairngorms National Park to the Highland capital of Inverness, where you will board the Kyle Line and travel from the East to West Coast. The scenery will transform before your eyes from thick forestry to peaty bogland, windswept browns to vibrant greens.


      Stopping at Loch Carron, your next activity is a real holiday highlight - an exclusive lunch and tour with the owner of Attadale Gardens. Known as a painterโ€™s garden, you will be enchanted by the sights and smells of the natural wonders that surround you. 


      Your day concludes with a short transfer to Plockton - your base for the next two evenings.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Skye

      Day 4: Skye

      Your day begins as you jump onboard a private mini-bus and head over the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Accompanied by an expert local guide, you will visit some of the true highlights of this famous islands - from well-known tourist hotspots to hidden gems treasured by locals. Your guide will regale tales of days gone by throughout your journey, ensuring you really make the most of your time in this most enchanting place. 

  • Day 5 Day 5: The West Highland Line

      Day 5: The West Highland Line

      Today you will travel south through Skye to take the ferry to the harbour town of Mallaig. You will have some time to explore the charming streets before boarding the Jacobite Steam Train - yet another holiday highlight. Relax in comfort onboard as your tour guide tells you stories of the landscapes you are passing, from tunnels through impassable cliffs to mountain lochs and coastal vistas. A real treat is crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the silver screen.

      Your steam experience ends in Fort William where you will take a short transfer to your accommodation in Spean Bridge, nestled in the foot of Scotlandโ€™s highest mountain range. 

  • Day 6 Day 6: Glencoe
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Glencoe

      Another day of touring - this time to some of the most awe-inspiring locations in the Scottish Highlands via a private mini-coach. Stops include Castle Stalker and Loch Awe, where you will have plenty of time to snap some photos while learning of Viking invasions and a mysterious Scottish diocese.


      You will return via Glencoe, where you will walk through forest and by stream to get to Signal Rock, a place of deep tragedy and the location of some of Scotlandโ€™s darkest history. 


      A final group dinner is in order this evening, allowing time to toast to new friends and unforgettable memories.

  • Day 7 Day 7

      Day 7

      A final journey along the West Highland Line today - this time with the final destination of Glasgow, where this tour comes to a close. Say fond farewells before continuing on your onward journey - we would be delighted to help with any further travel arrangements.
