Safari In Etosha National Park 1ร—(B/A)

What makes this trip so unique? Right, you are in the middle of it instead of just being there. Right in the middle of Africaโ€™s exhilarating wildlife, right in the middle of the fight to eat and be eaten, right in the middle of tense silence - your finger always on the shutter release of your camera. To make sure you get the best pictures, you will be on the road all day in an open four-wheel drive vehicle in Etosha National Park. The "great white place", as the Ovambo say, is one of the largest protected areas in the world. In the lunch time, in which also the animals rest, it is called also for you "siesta" and you let the soul and the feet dangle at the pool. Overnight stay as on the previous day. Sit back and enjoy the moment and the feeling of being in the middle of Africa. Return to the lodge at sunset at the latest. Overnight stay as on the previous day. • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Visit The Himba - Damaraland - Ugab Valley 1ร—(B/A)

What do the Himba have to do with the Herero? How many braids does an unmarried young man wear? Why are butter and ocher the rage in the Himba womenโ€™s beauty salon? Why does a fire burn between the cattle kraal and the main house in a Himba homestead? Your tour guide will be happy to help you solve these riddles. During a guided tour through the Himba village you will learn interesting facts about the culture and way of life of the "Red Nomads". Your journey continues through the wild and romantic landscape of Damaraland with African savannah, sandy dry rivers and imposing granite rocks. Embedded in a valley with imposing table mountains lies the rock formation of the Vingerklip and the lodge of the same name. You will take a short hike and enjoy the silence during the following sundowner. Back at the lodge, two swimming pools offer welcome refreshment. You will have dinner at a lofty height directly on the plateau of the lodge. Overnight stay at Vingerklip Lodge. (Travel time approx. 3,5h, 300 km).

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Twyfelfontein - Visit The Damara - Brandberg - Uis 1ร—(B/A)

A look behind the scenes promises the "Living Museum" of the Damara, the first traditional Damara project in Namibia and the only one of its kind. Nowhere else does one have the opportunity to learn about the traditional culture of the Damara in this form. Together with the Bushmen, the Damara are considered the "indigenous people" of Namibia. Change of scenery: the land appears barren, rust-red mountains flicker and reflect the heat. Is this supposed to be the site of one of the greatest works of art in southern Africa? But yes, it is called Twyfelfontein and houses over 2500 rock engravings and rock paintings. Picasso would have been impressed and so not only the "Dancing Kudu" is a feast for the eyes. With your guide you will visit a part of the historical findings on an approx. 2-hour hike. Afterwards you will travel to Uis. The Brandberg massif, with Namibiaโ€™s highest peak, shimmers in the evening light and Kerstin and Anton welcome you to the brand new Uis Guesthouse. Overnight stay at Uis Guesthouse. (Drive time approx. 4-5h, 320 km).

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Uis: Tracking Desert Elephants 1ร—(B/A)

Anton, an outspoken elephant expert, is the contact person for todayโ€™s adventure - a game drive in a four-wheel drive vehicle, in search of Namibiaโ€™s native desert elephants. The population roams an area as large as Lower Saxony between the Huab and Ugab dry rivers. The majestic Brandberg Mountain, a campfire in a cave, petroglyphs, the roar of desert lions in the far distance, clear starry skies and a herd of silent desert elephants - this is what Namibia must have felt like 10,000 years ago. Today an adventure without risk. In the afternoon itโ€™s time to relax, as the pool of your beautiful accommodation beckons. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Driving distance depending on sightings).

Learn something new and do something good at the same time? During the visit to the San village both are possible. You will learn more about the original life and the balancing act between tradition and modernity. The aim is to preserve the centuries-old culture of the San and to support their people in modern times. Afterwards you can relax on the drive to Swakopmund. Do you already sniff the salty sea air? Here at the Atlantic a different wind blows, because the cold Benguela current provides for a cooler climate. No wonder why many Namibians like to use Swakopmund as a summer resort. Spend the next two nights at the centrally located Swakopmund Plaza Hotel. Discover numerous colonial buildings that still characterize the cityscape, feast on a sumptuous Black Forest cake at Cafรฉ Anton or let the wind blow around your nose on the pier. Many inhabitants speak German and the numerous promenades, palm avenues and parks give Swakopmund a relaxed atmosphere. The surrounding area also has a lot to offer. There is the possibility of an excursion to Walvis Bay. There you have the opportunity to take part in a round trip with a catamaran through the harbor and the lagoon. You will have the opportunity to observe dolphins, seals, pelicans, flamingos and numerous sea birds. With the lighthouse at Pelican Point in the background, this makes a wonderful backdrop for successful wildlife photos. June to November is the whale season and with a little luck you will see the imposing giants. Fresh Atlantic oysters and South African sparkling wine are offered on board. Another recommended excursion is to the Namib Desert. During a guided tour you will get to know the fascinating variety of small animals in the desert. The tour guide follows the tracks of the desert dwellers and tracks them down. Especially outstanding are the so-called Little Five (all activities optional and bookable before departure). Sossusvlei - Deadvlei - Sesriem Canyon 1ร—(B/A)

The most powerful forces of our planet, sun, wind and water, have formed a unique landscape of sand in 80 million years and you are a guest today. Early in the morning the unique play of light and shadow can be experienced most intensively, so you will set off early for the apricot-colored dunes of Sossusvlei. You will have the opportunity to climb one of the highest dunes in the world and will be rewarded by a breathtaking view into the endless sand desert. In Deadvlei, a bizarre landscape of dry branches of dead camel thorn trees towering into the sky awaits you. On the return trip, visit the 30-meter-deep Sesriem Canyon and take a short hike through the narrow shady gorge.

Joltingly, the open four-wheel drive vehicle winds over the dunes during the optional sundowner drive. You will be rewarded with a spectacular view over the picturesque sand fields. Here you will realize why they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To keep your throat dry, you will be served an ice-cold gin and tonic. There is no more stylish way to experience the desert. As soon as the Naukluft mountain range glows purple in the evening light, itโ€™s time to roll out the beds onto the terrace for a blissful night under the Namibโ€™s fabulous starry sky. Through the lonely landscape of the Namib you travel southwest to the region around Helmeringhausen. It is the typical area of the desert horses and on the way a detour to Duwisib Castle should not be missed. The castle with its red walls, defense towers and battlements was built in 1908 by a Saxon artillery officer. It is one of the most bizarre German colonial buildings in Namibia and played a decisive role in the history of the desert horses. Its origin, behavior and future will be discussed in more detail in the afternoon. Afterwards you will travel to the area around Lรผderitz. Overnight stay at Klein Aus Vista. (Travel time approx. 5h, 360 km).

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Kolmannskuppe - Lรผderitz 1ร—(B/A)

What is the bathtub doing in the sea of sand, what is the refrigerator doing in the desert and why is there a narrow-gauge railroad in such a barren area? You will find the answers in Kolmannskuppe, temporary paradise and todayโ€™s ghost town. Due to a diamond discovery, the town quickly developed into a settlement with a well-developed infrastructure. After diamond mining ceased, the houses crumbled and the desert took over. Today, desert sand drifts through the ruins, giving the town a nostalgic, ghostly charm. You will undertake an extensive sightseeing tour. Then continue to the Atlantic coast to Lรผderitz, the "open air art nouveau museum" in southern Namibia. Stroll a bit through the colorful town with numerous buildings from the German colonial period. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Drive time approx. 3h, 250 km).
