      Arrival in Islamabad in the early morning. At the hotel you can rest from the journey. The capital of Pakistan is located at the foot of the Margalla Hills, which geographically belong to the foothills of the western Himalayas. The sightseeing program to get you in the mood includes the National Museum in Lok Virsa, which gives a good insight into Pakistanโ€™s chequered history, numerous peoples and rich cultural heritage. You will also visit the railroad museum in Golra Sharif, where a railroad station worth seeing from the colonial era has been preserved. In neighboring Rawalpindi, which is in total contrast to the planned city of Islamabad, you will visit the lively Raja Bazaar and be right in the middle of Pakistani everyday life. The gigantic Faisal Mosque and the view from Daman-e-Koh round off the day. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Full day drive on the famous Karakorum Highway (KKH) through the imposing valley of the Indus River north into the mountains. Destination is the small village of Chilas (1265 m) near the 8125 m high Nanga Parbat. On the way you will see, among other things, the ancient Buddhist rock engravings of Shatyal on the banks of the Indus, which testify to the former importance of the Silk Road in this region. If the Babusar Pass (4173 m) is passable (snow-free), the journey will be via the Kaghan Valley - a scenic route. Overnight stay in hotel. (Travel time approx. 12-13h, 400 km).

      Today you will go to the world famous fairy meadow at Nanga Parbat! You will follow the KKH for a few more kilometers to the Rakhiot Bridge. On a breathtaking dirt road you will drive by off-road vehicle to the village of Tato (2560 m), which looks like a green oasis. How impressive is the contrast of the magnificent pine forests in front of the gigantic ice wall of Nanga Parbat! After a great scenic hike on a solid path, you will reach the Fairy Tale Meadow (3310 m), an idyllic place surrounded by lush coniferous forests. Enjoy the great panoramic view of Nanga Parbat. Overnight stay in wooden bungalows. (Driving time about 3-4h, 70 km, walking time about 2-3h, 750 mโ†‘, 6 km).

      The day is free for exploration in the surroundings of the Fairy Tale Meadow. A beautiful hike will take you towards Nanga Parbat base camp even closer to the ice giant, should conditions (little or no snow) permit. If you donโ€™t feel like hiking, stay on the fairy meadow and enjoy the day at the feet of the ninth highest peak on our planet. Overnight stay as on the previous day.



  • Day 6 From "Junction Point" To Minapin 1ร—(B/M/A)

      After an early breakfast, you will walk back to Tato and from there descend back to the Indus Valley by off-road vehicle. You will then continue on the KKH towards the north. You will pass the "Junction Point", the geographical junction of the three highest mountains in the world, Hindu Kush, Karakoram and Himalaya. In the small village Minapin (2020 m) you will arrive in the evening. Overnight stay in a simple hotel. (Walking time about 2h, driving time about 4h, 155 km).



  • Day 7 Tagaphari - Rakaposhi North Base Camp 1ร—(B/M/A)

      Todayโ€™s hike, initially through green fields, leads gradually uphill following a river course. Along the lateral moraine of the Minapin glacier, the trail continues ascending on a zigzag path to the meadows Tagaphari (3260 m), the base camp of Rakaposhi on the north side. Overnight stay in tent. (Walking time about 5-6, 1240 mโ†‘, about 8 km).

      From the tent camp you can reach the slightly higher Rakaposhi base camp in 1h. On the other hand, a short hike on the Minapin glacier is also worthwhile. In the afternoon you go the same way back to the Hunza valley to Minapin. From there you will drive up another stretch on the KKH to Karimabad (2450 m), the charming main town of Hunza country. Overnight stay in the hotel. (Walking time approx. 4-5h, 1240 mโ†“, 8 km, driving time approx. 1h, 30 km).



  • Day 9 Karimabad With Baltit Fort And Duiker 1ร—(B/M/A)

      In tranquil Karimabad, you will visit the 800-year-old Fort Baltit, once the seat of the Mir of Hunza and now a museum. A stroll through the bazaar is followed by a walk along one of the water channels typical of Hunzaland and you will get an insight into the daily life of the Hunzukuc, the inhabitants of the Hunza Valley). The Hunza women will prepare a typical lunch for you, which you can enjoy while listening to Sufi music. Return to Karimabad. In the early evening walk to the grandly situated summer village of Duiker above Karimabad, where you can enjoy the great view. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Walking time approx. 3h).

      In all-terrain vehicles you will reach Hoper (2800 m), where a little above the valleys of Bualtar and Barpu glaciers meet. After a short hike you will stand in Shishkin exactly at this point. The boulder-covered glacier will be crossed and along the ice stream you will hike with a view of the Spantik to Bericho Cor (3310 m). Overnight stay in tent. (Travel time about 1h). (Walking time about 5-6h, 560 mโ†‘, 11 km).



  • Day 11 To Rash Lake (4694 M) 1ร—(B/M (Lb)/A)

      From Bericho Cor, the path now climbs steeply out of the glacier valley and with every step the view becomes more magnificent. At lunchtime, Chidin Harai (4440 m) should be reached. The summit panorama is now almost incomprehensible: Lupghar Sar (7200 m), Mumhil Sar (7343 m), Trivor Sar (7728 m), Malunguti Sar (7025 m) and Destaghil Sar (7825 m). After this lunch break, we will continue ascending following the ridge to the small Rash Lake (4694 m), the highest high altitude lake in Pakistan. Overnight stay in tent. (Walking time about 6-7h, 1400 mโ†‘).



  • Day 12 To The Summit Of Rash Peak (5098 M) 1ร—(B/M/A)

      A view to dream about is offered by the easy summit of Rash Peak, which you can hike today. On a clear day you can see K2 (8611 m), Broad Peak (8047 m), Gasherbrum IV (7925 m), Ogre Peak (7285 m) and countless other Karakoram mountains. Between the countless mountain peaks, the Hispar Pass (5150 m) can be seen, which is the central point of the Biafo-Hispar glacier system, the longest outside the pole with over 90 km. The way to the summit of Rash Peak is easy, but requires some willpower because of the altitude. Alternatively to the summit tour, you can take a rest day. Overnight stay as on the previous day.       Today we descend in a long direct descent back to the Barpu Glacier. The Miar glacier and Rakaposhi are the visual fixed points. Along the Barpu glacier you will reach the known camp site again. Overnight stay in tent. (Walking time approx. 6-7h, 1140 mโ†“).



  • Day 14 Attabad Lake 1ร—(F/M (Lb)/A)

      On the further descent to Hoper, the Barpu glacier is crossed again. On your further way along the KKH to the village of Gulmit (2460 m) you will bypass the Attabad lake, which was formed by a big landslide in 2010, on the newly constructed road (partly tunnel route). Overnight stay in hotel. (Walking time 4-5h; driving time about 2-3h).



  • Day 15 The Northern Hunza Valley 1ร—(B/M/A)

      Gulmit used to be the summer residence of Mir of Hunza, whose former palace is now a ruin, but still worth hiking for the good view of Attabad Lake and the mountains. Easy crossing of Ghulkin glacier with panoramic view of Karakorum mountains leads to Borith lake. After a relaxing lunch break at the lake, another detour to Passu with views of the mountain group called "Cathedral" will be made before the drive to Gilgit. (Walking time approx. 4-5h, 240 mโ†‘ 100 mโ†“). (Travel time approx. 3-4h).



  • Day 16 From Islamabad To The Buddhist Past 1ร—(B/M/A)

      A flight will take you from the mountains of Karakoram to Islamabad. Immediately after arrival you will drive to Taxila, where you will experience the grandeur of the former Gandhara Empire and visit the museum worth seeing. Return to Islamabad. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Note: In case of short notice flight cancellation, the route to Islamabad will be done in 2 days. Either via the KKH or alternatively, if the pass road is open, via the Babusar Pass and through the Kaghan Valley. There will be an overnight stay in a hotel on the way.

      Peshawar has a history of more than 2000 years and was once an important trading center between the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and of course Afghanistan. You will visit the Peshawar Museum with its Ghandara Sculptures. In the heart of the city stretches the romantic "street of storytellers" - the Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Today the storytellers are gone, but the atmosphere remains. The Mahabat Khan Mosque is the only mosque from the Mughal period in Peshawar. It is a classic example of the architecture with a central open courtyard and a prayer hall topped by three fluted domes. Alternatively, an excursion to Rawalpindi is planned. Overnight stay as the previous day. (Travel time Pashawar about 6h, 370 km).
