Itinerary of your trip Island Hopping In Malta & Gozo: Road Trip To The Lagoon

  • Day 1 Day 1: Merฤงba Malta: Road Trip To The Island Paradise!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 1: Merฤงba Malta: Road Trip To The Island Paradise!

From up here, Malta and the neighboring islands look like little Lego bricks, donโ€™t they? As soon as the plane touches down, you realize that this island paradise is a true road trip adventure! Grab your rental car and jet across the island with the windows down and the right playlist in your luggage.
A quick check-in at your accommodation, stow your suitcases - and youโ€™re ready to move on, because Rabat is waiting to be discovered! You explore the winding alleyways and quickly end up in the sister city of Mdina. Surrounded by fortress walls, you lose yourself in the former capital between magnificent palaces and horse-drawn carriages. Absolute must-do: a slice of cake in the Fontanella Tea Garden! Afterwards, hop back into your rental car and pay a visit to the Dingli Cliffs at sunset. The steep rocky slopes are bathed in a beautiful red by the evening sun - simply magical!
  • Day 2 Day 2: Insta-Ready: Between Fishing Villages &Amp; Sea Caves
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Insta-Ready: Between Fishing Villages &Amp; Sea Caves

You jet across the island again until you reach the small fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Walk along the harbour promenade and watch the hustle and bustle of the colorful Luzzu fishing boats as they rock to the rhythm of the waves. In contrast to the sparkling sea, they make a real postcard motif - and a perfect selfie spot! The salty breeze lures you to the coast and straight to St. Peter Pool. Time for a dip in the sea! You could spend hours in the natural pool, which is constantly flushed with fresh seawater. But there is still one highlight to come. You drive your rental car towards the Blue Grotto. You can either observe the natural beauty and the bright turquoise water from above or drive a few meters further to the small harbour of Wied Iลผ-ลปurrieq, where you can join a boat tour that takes you inside the cave (optional, payable locally).
  • Day 3 Day 3: Hidden Secrets: Foreign World On Gozo
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Hidden Secrets: Foreign World On Gozo

Want to discover another side of Malta? Head to the Cirkewwa ferry terminal and hop on the car ferry to Gozo (payable on arrival)! From the port in Mฤกarr, head straight to your accommodation in your rental car. A quick check-in and youโ€™re ready to get out again!
Take a relaxed stroll through the streets of the islandโ€™s capital Victoria, sample local specialties and enjoy island life. Then head to the unique salt pans on the north coast. The 350-year-old salt pans are arranged in a checkerboard pattern and glow in different shades of color due to the sunlight - what a photo opportunity! When the sea is rough, seawater is repeatedly washed into the pools, which then evaporates over the years. What remains is a white layer of salt. Incidentally, you can still buy this special sea salt on site today! Afterwards, you can enjoy a few rays of sunshine on the crystal-clear sea on the reddish-golden sandy beach of Ramla Bay.
  • Day 4 Day 4: Mythical Beauty: Caught In Gozoโ€™S Spell
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Mythical Beauty: Caught In Gozoโ€™S Spell

Do as the Gozians do and lose yourself in the narrow, winding streets of Victoriaโ€™s old town. Find a cute cafรฉ, sit outside and watch the relaxed hustle and bustle. Youโ€™ll soon realize: The clocks tick much slower on Gozo than on Malta! Then itโ€™s up to the wall that surrounds the citadel of Victoria. You are amazed at the view from up here: Glistening water on the horizon, vast farmlands and sandstone-colored villages as far as your eye can see. And now? Are you drawn back to Ramla Bay with its fine sandy beach? Fun fact: According to legend, Odysseus was held here for seven years by the nymph Calypso. Or you can drive your rental car towards Xlendi, where you can splash around in the turquoise blue water in the middle of the town until your stomach growls pull you back ashore and you sit down in one of the restaurants right by the bay. Dinner with a view!
  • Day 5 Day 5: Small But Mighty: Discovery Tour Through Valletta
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Small But Mighty: Discovery Tour Through Valletta

You press the rewind button and youโ€™re on the ferry back to Malta. Your destination: the city of Sliema, located on a peninsula directly opposite Valletta. And thatโ€™s exactly where youโ€™re heading for now!
Explore the winding alleyways of Vallettaโ€™s old town, which lead you along ornate baroque facades, statues of saints and small fountains. You cross the inner courtyard of the Grand Masterโ€™s Palace and end up at Vallettaโ€™s landmark, St. Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral. Rather plain on the outside, the 16th century church conceals magnificent rooms and works of art by old masters inside (optional, payable on site). Letโ€™s continue! Follow the road that leads you out of Maltaโ€™s capital through the modern city gate and straight towards the Triton Fountain. Take a short breather in the palm-lined square while you think about where to go next. Did you know that the entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site? No wonder thereโ€™s so much to discover here! Youโ€™ve made your decision: itโ€™s off to the Barrakka Gardens, the cityโ€™s green oasis. Tip: The Upper Gardens offer the best panoramic view of the city and the harbor!
  • Day 6 Day 6: Vitamin Sea: Catamaran Adventure To The Blue Lagoon
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Vitamin Sea: Catamaran Adventure To The Blue Lagoon

Malta has already enchanted you with its beautiful bays and turquoise waters - but you havenโ€™t had enough yet! Thatโ€™s why today youโ€™re heading out onto the water by catamaran to soak up some more vitamin sea. In Bugibba, you board the boat, which is already packed with other sun worshippers. With hot beats in your ears, you look for the perfect spot to relax - would you rather go to the upper deck or lie down on one of the nets, where you almost feel like youโ€™re floating above the water? Then the catamaran sets off and heads straight for the uninhabited island of Comino. Itโ€™s famous for its Blue Lagoon and as soon as you get there, youโ€™ll know why! Crystal-clear water, white sand - this is the place to be! The catamaran slowly sets off on its return journey, taking you past more dream bays and beaches. Malta - you have my heart!
