No matter what your perfect beach day looks like, here youโ€™ll find the stretch of beach thatโ€™s just right for you. Do you like action? Then Fort DeRussy Beach Park or Royal Hawaiian Beach is the place for you! Youโ€™ll find all kinds of water activities here: From canoes to surfboards, you can rent and learn everything here (optional, payable on site). If you like it quieter, San Souci Beach is your place to be! The beach is less touristy and is mainly used by locals. It is a little away from the big hotels and also offers the best snorkeling spot in the area. You shouldnโ€™t miss the free hula show, which takes place three times a week in the evening on Waikiki Beach, or the beautiful sunsets. This is where the postcard motif comes to life!

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Best Of Oโ€™Ahu: Hiking Adventure &Amp; Hanauma Bay

Youโ€™re spoiled for choice: climb the crater rim of the famous Diamond Head or dive into the magical underwater world at Hanauma Bay? The extinct volcano is Oโ€™ahuโ€™s landmark and can be easily reached by bus (line 23, payable locally) and is a popular hiking destination on the island for good reason. Step by step, you approach the crater rim. After around 45 minutes and a few steps, youโ€™ll have an incredible view of Honolulu, Waikiki, the south coast of Oโ€™ahu and the deep blue sea from a height of more than 230 meters. Wow! You know those places where you stand and canโ€™t believe theyโ€™re real? Hanauma Bay is just such a place (optional, reservation required online in advance at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve)! Head into the dreamlike bay on your own, immerse yourself in the magical world beneath the waterโ€™s surface and keep an eye out for corals and colorful fish. You might even spot a Humuhumunukunukuapuaโ€™a, a diamond pico pusher fish! Is that a sea turtle swimming past you?
  • Day 6 Day 6: Island Hopping: Welcome To The Garden Island Of Kauai!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Island Hopping: Welcome To The Garden Island Of Kauai!

Are you ready for an island hop? Take a running start and take the plunge! Take a plane to the garden island of Kauai! As soon as the green jewel in the deep blue ocean appears below you, youโ€™ll realize where the name comes from: Tropical rainforests and emerald-green rocks make up a large part of the island. As soon as you land, itโ€™s time to get off the plane and into your rental car. Itโ€™s already waiting for you at the airport. Step on the gas, turn up the music! Your first stage may not be long, but accompanied by the ocean on your right, the bright green nature on your left and the bright sun in the cloudless sky above the highway, the road trip feeling wonโ€™t be long in coming! Before you head for your accommodation, you should definitely make a detour to Wailua Falls! In the middle of the jungle of the Wailua River State Park, the twin waterfalls plunge dramatically 24 meters into the depths. A fantastic sight and a foretaste of everything else there is to discover on Kauai!
  • Day 7 Day 7: North Shore: Dramatic Cliffs &Amp; Hidden Beaches
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: North Shore: Dramatic Cliffs &Amp; Hidden Beaches

The dramatic North Coast is on the agenda and promises a day full of adventure with spectacular sea cliffs, lush taro fields and paradisiacal beaches! So get out of bed and into the rental car. Even from a distance, you can see the gleaming white Kilauea lighthouse perched on the tip of a small headland and surrounded by high cliffs. Is there a whale swimming off the coast? With a bit of luck, you can actually watch the sea giants from here! A real hidden gem of Kauai is Kauapea Beach, also known as Secret Beach - and not without reason! Because the beach can only be reached on foot. After a 15-minute walk, you can put your feet on the golden sand. A play of colors as far as the eye can see: red rocks, bright green and turquoise-blue water that breaks in waves. What is hidden behind the black lava rocks on the left? Find out when the sea is calm! After a few minutes, you will reach a lagoon with several small waterfalls that babble quietly.
  • Day 8 Day 8: Waimea: In The Grand Canyon Of The Pacific Ocean
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Waimea: In The Grand Canyon Of The Pacific Ocean

Waimea Canyon is one of Kauaiโ€™s absolute must-sees and is perfect for a day trip! Road 550 from Waimea north to Waimea Canyon State Park is probably the most beautiful and spectacular road on the island - the journey is the destination here. You wind your way through the serpentines of the green coastal landscape, stopping time and again to take in the panorama. When the lush greenery turns into a desert-like landscape, you are amazed. Mark Twain once described Waimea Canyon as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and youโ€™ll understand why when you hike the Iliau Nature Loop! Red rocks with green mountain peaks, jagged cliffs and deep gorges - an enchanting play of colors that tells a story thousands of years old. You can hardly take your eyes off it, but thereโ€™s more to discover! Take the wheel and jet on to Kalalau Lookout! In the distance, you can see the sea glistening in the sun. The view of the Kalalau Valley, around 1000 meters below, with its unique cliffs is incredible! Almost like in a movie ... The spectacular valley was actually used as a backdrop for films such as King Kong and Jurassic Park.
  • Day 9 Day 9: Big Island: Volcanic Wonderland With Green Oases!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Big Island: Volcanic Wonderland With Green Oases!

Mighty volcanoes cast their shadows ahead and you get ready for the next island hop! You drop off your rental car at the airport and the next plane takes you to Hawaii Island. Confused? Hawaii Island is the largest island in the Hawaiian island chain and is therefore nicknamed the Big Island. As soon as you land, you pick up your new rental car. If your hotel is on the east coast, the first stage of the road trip awaits you - right through the green heart of the island. After a short stop at the hotel, head straight to Akaka Falls - perhaps the most beautiful waterfall in the entire island state in the Akaka Falls State Park of the same name (entrance fee payable locally). If you start your hike on the circular trail on the right, you will first pass the Kahuna Waterfall - a foretaste of what awaits you just a few minutes later at Akaka Falls. From 135 meters, the water plunges dramatically into the depths in front of a green overgrown wall. In addition to the impressive waterfalls, there are also impressive plants to see. Have you spotted a giant monstera yet?
  • Day 10 Day 10: Kalapana: Fascinating Spectacle Of Destruction And Re-Creation
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: Kalapana: Fascinating Spectacle Of Destruction And Re-Creation

You alone decide where you want to go today! At the easternmost tip of the island lies the district of Puna. Here you can see the unbridled power of the volcanoes more clearly than in almost any other place! Kalapana, a small fishing village, was buried under the lava of the still active Kilauea volcano in 1990. The cooled lava has created a new coastal strip, the contrast between the pitch-black rock and the azure blue sea is fascinating and bizarre. The special thing about it: Not only can you walk in the footsteps of history, but you can also see lava flowing into the sea, creating new land again and again. Absolutely impressive! There are plenty of beaches on the east coast with sand as black as night - like Isaac Hale Park. The color mix of black sand, bright green palm trees and the deep blue sea is breathtakingly beautiful - especially in the light of the setting sun. If you prefer a classic beach day on white and golden beaches, then head to the west coast around Kona!
  • Day 11 Day 11: Volcanoes National Park: Close To The Legendary Kilauea!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 11: Volcanoes National Park: Close To The Legendary Kilauea!

The Big Island and Kilauea go together like Bonny and Clyde, like pitch and brimstone ... So pay a visit to the legendary volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (optional, admission payable on site)! Desert-like lava fields, green rainforests, spectacular craters and bubbling lava - here you can experience the power of nature up close! Start at the Kilauea Visitor Center. Here you will learn all about the current situation before following the Crater Rim Drive through the crater area of the Kilauea Caldera. Again and again you have to pinch yourself to understand that the bizarre landscape around you is real. Steam and smoke rise from the huge Halemaumau crater - a crater in Kilauea. A real highlight is the Thurston Lava Tube, a lava cave that is more than 500 years old. Solidified drops and waves inside are impressive evidence of the incredible melting forces that created the cave. With the light of your flashlight, you reveal the shapes and colors of the minerals that emerge from the rock. Incredible, isnโ€™t it?

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Be sure to try a Kona coffee before heading to the beach. Whether itโ€™s stand-up paddling, snorkeling or surfing - everything is possible here (optional, payable locally). Just south of Kona is the Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park with an ancient temple complex with countless tiki statues. Want to immerse yourself in the world of Hawaiian legends and myths? Then youโ€™ve come to the right place! The sacred site once served as a refuge for Hawaiian lawbreakers. Want to enjoy the green lungs of the island once again? Then make a detour to Waipio Valley. No matter where your path takes you, at some point itโ€™s time to say goodbye. Drop off your rental car at Kona airport and as soon as the sun approaches the horizon, your plane takes off for San Francisco. Sweet dreams.

Suitcases stowed away? Then start your discovery tour on Market Street in Downtown, at the turning point of the famous cable cars. So why not hop on right away and explore the city on the historic rails (optional, payable locally)? Especially recommended: the Powell-Hyde line, which runs from Powell across the city to northern Hyde. Stopover at Union Square - a must! Restaurants, cafรฉs, boutiques and other stores are lined up here. No wonder itโ€™s one of the cityโ€™s meeting places! Continue on to one of the most famous photo spots and probably the most winding street in the world: Lombard Street. The red cobbled street winds its way downhill in eight bends - surrounded by a veritable sea of flowers. Of course, one must-see is still missing: the Golden Gate Bridge! At the terminus in Hyde, the iconic bridge shines in all its glory. So, donโ€™t forget your camera!

From Aquatic Park Pier, you walk along the coastline and catch a glimpse of a very special city landmark: Alcatraz Prison Island. Your path will take you past the Maritime National Historical Park, where several historic ships are moored and can be visited (admission payable on site). The closer you get to Pier 39, the louder the spectacle of the sea lions living in the wild can be heard - a truly entertaining show! Do you like it sweet? Then donโ€™t miss out on a visit to the famous Ghirardelli chocolate factory! You can even taste the chocolate.
