  • Day 2 Day 2-9: Out And About In The Beaufort Sea
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2-9: Out And About In The Beaufort Sea

The Beaufort Sea, named after the British Admiral Francis Beaufort, borders the northern coasts of Alaska and Canada and was long feared due to its extreme climatic conditions. Unexplored until 1914, it is covered by a thick layer of ice for most of the year. In these magnificent pack ice landscapes, with a little luck you will cross the path of polar bears or other Arctic inhabitants. Experience a unique journey into the heart of the pack ice, into an eternal, untouched and pristine world of ice. The landscapes here are constantly changing, alternating between smooth plains, chaotic ice landscapes and open channels in the water. Your ship makes use of these already naturally open channels and areas with less thick ice so that you can experience magical moments amidst the floating ice floes. 8 nights on board.

  • Day 3 Day 10: At The Magnetic North Pole
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: At The Magnetic North Pole

The magnetic north pole is the point at which the lines of force of the earthโ€™s magnetic field converge and which attracts the magnetic needle of the compass. While the geographic North Pole is the northernmost fixed point on the earth and marks the intersection of the earthโ€™s axis with the northern surface of the earth, the magnetic North Pole moves and is bound to the earthโ€™s magnetic field. Today you will try to reach this point! Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 4 Day 11: At Sea
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 11: At Sea

Todayโ€™s sea day can be used to relax. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 5 Day 12: At The Geographic North Pole
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 12: At The Geographic North Pole

The geographic North Pole at a latitude of 90ยฐ is located on the Earthโ€™s axis of rotation, at the intersection of all meridians. For six months of the year it lies in darkness (polar night), then for six months it lies in the light of the sun (polar day). This mythical place, permanently covered in ice and far from the Earthโ€™s ice-free land surface, has captivated generations of polar explorers. Excitement is in the air. The passengers gather on the bridge. The captain is doing precision work. Everyone wants to take a look at the GPS when the magic number 90ยฐ appears. Welcome to the geographic North Pole! You are "top of the world", all eyes are on the south - an incredible experience that is duly celebrated. The anchor is lowered onto a robust ice floe and you set off on an ice walk! This day will remain forever in your memory as the Charcot turns south again. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 6 Day 13-15: In The Pack Ice
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 13-15: In The Pack Ice

Heading south, you are back in the pack ice and once again have the chance to experience the strength of the ship as well as the beauty of the Arctic. 3 nights on board.

  • Day 7 Day 16: On The Coast Of Spitsbergen
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 16: On The Coast Of Spitsbergen

The Northeast Svalbard Nature Reserve has been protected since 1973 and is the northernmost and coldest region of the archipelago: Nordaustlandet is a vast ice desert covered by two ice caps and the second largest island in Svalbard. The fjords and cliffs in the west and north, protected by the Gulf Stream, are home to large colonies of birds and walruses. The landscapes of the east and south are colder and dominated by impressive glaciers, from which majestic icebergs detach themselves in the Hinlopen Strait. With a bit of luck, you may spot polar bears and Arctic foxes here. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 8 Day 17: In The Hinlopenstrasse
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 17: In The Hinlopenstrasse

The Hinlopen Strait in the heart of the Arctic Ocean between the Norwegian islands of Spitsbergen and Nordaustlandet promises an unforgettable experience. This area offers breathtaking panoramas with magnificent basalt formations and an ice cap as far as the eye can see. The fjord-cut coastline forms a fairytale landscape in which the occasional iceberg floats. This place, today a special place for observing the seabirds, polar bears and walruses nesting in the gigantic rocks, was once inextricably linked with the history of the whalers who hunted here as early as the 17th century. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 9 Day 18: In Spitsbergenโ€™S Southeast
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 18: In Spitsbergenโ€™S Southeast

The Southeast Svalbard Nature Reserve is the second largest nature reserve in Svalbard. It was established in 1973 and covers an area of more than 21,000 kmยฒ. You can look forward to breathtaking panoramas between coastal landscapes, rocky islands, mountain plateaus, extensive tundra plains and ice caps. With a bit of luck, you can observe many different seabirds, as well as whales, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 10 Day 19: In Hornsund
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 19: In Hornsund

The southernmost of Spitsbergenโ€™s fjords is probably the most beautiful of all: at the end of its enormous bay, eight large glaciers slowly descend into the sea and merge into numerous icebergs floating on the cold, mysterious waters. Welcome to Hornsund! Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 11 Day 20: In The Isfjord
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 20: In The Isfjord

The huge Isfjorden is one of the largest fjords on Spitsbergen, its branches reach deep into the heart of the island. Located deep in Billejford, the Nordenskjรถld Glacier with its almost 5 km wide ice front is one of the most spectacular in the Spitsbergen archipelago. You may also have the opportunity to discover the ghost town of Pyramiden. The former Russian mining settlement is a unique ghost town. Once a communist showpiece settlement, completely isolated in the middle of the Arctic desert, only the huge buildings - including the northernmost statue of Lenin - remain today. Coal was mined in Pyramiden until 1998. The inhabitants moved away, but most things stayed where they were. You get the impression that the town could be repopulated at any moment... Overnight stay on board.

  • Day 12 Day 21: Longyearbyen: Disembarkation

      Day 21: Longyearbyen: Disembarkation
