  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival And Viking Village

      Day 1: Arrival And Viking Village

      Arrival in Keflavรญk or Copenhagen (depending on travel dates) the day before. Flight from Keflavik (or Copenhagen) to Narsarsuaq. Reception at the airport and boat transfer across the Tunulliarfik Fjord, which is usually full of icebergs, to Qassiarsuk. It was here, in the former Brattahlid, that Erik the Red settled when he initiated the colonization of Greenland in 985. Walk through the village with around 50 inhabitants and guided tour of the ruins and the faithful replica of the chapel and longhouse. Overnight stay in the guest house.

      Day 2: By Boat To The Glacier Camp

      Boat trip towards Camp Qaleraliq, crossing the Tunulliarfik Fjord with its numerous icebergs. Stop in Narsaq, with 1500 inhabitants the third largest town in South Greenland, and time to visit the market and the fur stores. Continue towards the inland ice. Arrival at a cozy camp on a sandy beach with a fantastic view of three glacier fronts of the Qaleraliq glacier. Overnight stay in a tent with the thundering lullaby of the calving glacier.

      Day 3: Ascent To Lake Tasersuatsiaq

      Ascent to the large lake Tasersuatsiaq. On foot, you cross a valley characterized by sand dunes, which contrasts with the lush green tundra. Hike up to a 400 m high viewing mountain with a majestic view of the lake, one of the largest in South Greenland, and the ice sheet, where nunataks emerge from the ice like rocky islands. With a bit of luck, you will spot reindeer and collect berries and mushrooms for dinner. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Walking time approx. 5 hours, 500 mโ†‘โ†“, 15 km).

  • Day 4 Day 4: Glacier Hike And Reindeer Valley

      Day 4: Glacier Hike And Reindeer Valley

      You approach the more than 10 km long front of the Qaleraliq glacier, which plunges directly into the sea, in a Zodiac. Glacier hike from one of the flanks with a trained glacier guide. You will experience the crevasses, caves, sรฉracs and other ice formations. Crampons that fit all shoes are provided. If the weather or ice conditions do not meet the safety requirements, you will undertake a hike to the Valley of the Reindeer. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      Day 5: Impressive Qoorooq Glacier

      Zodiac trip to Itilleq and hike along the "Kingโ€™s Trail" to Igaliko. Visit to the ruins of the archbishopric of Gardar, the religious capital of the Vikings. Return to Itilleq and zodiac tour into the Qoorooq fjord to the glacier of the same name. You approach as close as the icebergs allow. Continue to Qassiarsuk. Overnight stay in the guesthouse. (Walking time approx. 3h, 200 mโ†‘โ†“, 11 km).

      Day 6: Sheep Farms And Kayak Tour

      Hike to the Tasiusaq homestead, where seven people live in seclusion on the Sermilik fjord, which is almost completely blocked by icebergs from the nearby glacier. Exploration of the surrounding area and some Viking ruins. Time to fish for salmon and explore the area. Optional: kayak excursion in the "Bay of Icebergs" (approx. 2 hours, costs approx. โ‚ฌ 85, payment on site). Overnight stay in the guesthouse. (Walking time approx. 4.5h, 375 mโ†‘โ†“, 13 km).

  • Day 7 Day 7: Valley Of 1000 Flowers

      Day 7: Valley Of 1000 Flowers

      Zodiac cruise to Narsarsuaq. Hike through the "Valley of 1000 Flowers" with spectacular views of a glacier-formed valley and an abundance of flowering plants, until you have an unforgettable panoramic view of the Kiattut glacier and its nunataks. Farewell dinner with typical Inuit products, whale, seal and reindeer meat, mattak... Overnight stay in the guesthouse. (Walking time approx. 6.5 hours, 550 mโ†‘โ†“, 14 km).

  • Day 8 Day 8: Departure

      Day 8: Departure

      Free time to explore Narsarsuaq with its beautiful museum. Return flight to Keflavik or Copenhagen. Individual overnight stay and journey home or onwards.
