You will have to carry your own luggage, as help is not guaranteed to be available. Please pack wisely. Window shutters : most accommodations do not have window shutters in Romania. Most of the times curtains are present, but if you have trouble sleeping without shutters, please bring a sleeping mask. Background sounds : in Romanian countryside, the rooster, the dogs or the singing birds would be the first waking up in the morning. If you have trouble sleeping and prefer not to wake up early in the morning, we recommend earplugs.

      Breakfast and departure for Maramures. Stop on the way to visit a first of the eight wooden churches included in the UNESCO heritage list (Rogoz or Surdesti). Take a walk in the best preserved traditional village in Maramures and have lunch with the locals. Continue with the visit the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta, an unusual colorful spot, unexpectedly reflecting the love for live of the locals, and a traditional dowry room.

      After breakfast, visit a second UNESCO wooden church (Ieud or Poienile Izei). Departure for Bucovina region, taking a scenic road across the Carpathians. Lunch in a restaurant on the way. Stop in Ciocanesti to see the traditional decorated houses. Visit the painted monastery of Moldovita, famous for itโ€™s Siege of Constantinople fresco scene. As decorating the Easter egg is an ancient Hutsul tradition that you must not miss, youโ€™ll have the chance to assist at such a demonstration. Continue the journey with the visit of the most complete and best preserved of the painted monasteries: Sucevita. If youโ€™re looking for spiritual perfection, you may find inspiration here, admiring the Ladder of Virtues fresco scene.

      Breakfast and transfer to Voronet for the visit of the painted monastery, the most famous of all eight painted monasteries included in UNESCO heritage. 

      Departure for Transylvania, taking once again a mountain road. Stop in Bistrita for lunch and a relaxed city tour. Arrive in Sighisoara in the afternoon and walk among the colourful narrow streets of this unique UNESCO-heritage fortress. The historic figure said to have inspired the creation of Dracula novel character was born here.

      Breakfast and departure for Viscri. This rural establishment will unveil the best preserved and restored traditional Saxon village in Transylvania, one of the few where the community is still very much alive, where small rural businesses are surviving in a modern world. You shall then pay a visit to the local blacksmith and visit the 13th c. fortified church (UNESCO patrimony). Lunch in a local guesthouse in Viscri. Continue the journey to Brasov, the Crown City. Guided tour of the medieval city and free time for relaxing.

      Breakfast and departure for Sinaia, for the visit of Peles Castle, the first castle built by the Romanian Monarchy during the 19th century. Chance to admire the personal arts collections of the royal family. Lunch in a restaurant and transfer to Bran, taking a scenic little road across the mountains. Arrive in Bran and visit the so called โ€˜Draculaโ€™s Castleโ€™. Dating from the Middle Ages and yet modernized at the beginning of the 20th century, Bran castle is now one of the most visited places in Romania. Should we find Dracula inside? In the afternoon, transfer back to Brasov for shopping and free time.

Visit Alba Carolina Vauban fortress and discover all its inside stories: all about the ancient Romans, the Hungarian kings, the union of Transylvania with Romania. Transfer to the Apuseni Mountains for dinner in a traditional restaurant and accommodation in a guesthouse in the iconic village of Rimetea
