  • Day 3 Day 3: Art With Frida Kahlo + Xochimilco + Taco Tour In Mexico
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Art With Frida Kahlo + Xochimilco + Taco Tour In Mexico

This morning you will visit Mexico city from an Artistic perspective because you will go to the Frida Kahlo Museum, known as La Casa Azul. In this beautiful residence, the artist lived most of her life, initially with her family and, years later, with her husband, Diego Rivera. Interesting Mexican and foreign visitors stayed in this place, attracted by the captivating artist couple.

In the end, Frida wanted to leave her house as a museum for the learning and enjoyment of her beloved Mexico. That is why, after her death, her husband built the Frida Kahlo Museum here.

After you visit the Frida Kahlo museum, we will take you on a tour of the canals of Xochimilco in the area of the Cuemanco ecological reserve. We will spend around 3 hours in Xochimilco.

Xochimilco not only stands out for its natural beauty, reflected in the canals and chinampas that give identity to the place, but also for its cultural diversity. Chinampas, trajineras, museums, flower and plant markets, parishes, parks, and forests are some of the parts that give life to this place.

The canals of Xochimilco and the traditional cultivation system of chinampas are Cultural Heritage of Humanity declared by UNESCO. It is a very important site that reflects History and culture. More than 200 colorful trajineras depart from its ten docks to travel through the canals.

Here you will have the opportunity to interact with the local people in a visit to learn about the farming systems of the region as well as a tour of the chinampas of the canals of Xochimilco with delicious food and typical music. You will also listen to incredible legends of the place and buy delicious Mexican snacks -enough to have lunch- from local people on boats.

Now the real deal! Mexico City is known as the TACO capital of the world. A taco is made of tortilla, filling (something), and salsa. This is the most typical dish/snack/appetizer in Mexico. Everyone who tastes it is fascinated with its flavor, which becomes addictive. The tacos in each country involve different preparation and styles, such as the traditional barbacoa, cochinita pibil, carnitas, mixiote, de canasta, etc.

On this tour, you will enjoy and taste Mexican tacos at the different stops we have for you. You will know excellent restaurants and typical โ€œtaqueriasโ€ (taco venues).

After your taco tour, immerse yourself in a unique experience about the elaboration of โ€œmezcal,โ€ a famous Mexican beverage. Mezcal is obtained from the distillation of a plant called maguey or agave. This natural Mexican product is one of the few vegetables that provide man with a home, clothing, sustenance, and health.

On this day, you will have the opportunity to learn about the mezcal process with an artisan mezcal producer, also known as Maestro Mezcalero. He will share his knowledge and secrets about mezcal with you, from its origins to the best way to drink it. Feel free to ask him everything youโ€™ll like to know about this now-so-popular beverage worldwide.

Then we will continue to your hotel to rest your stomach!

  • Day 4 Day 4: Hot Air Ballon Optional - Teotihuacan
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Hot Air Ballon Optional - Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan is considered the most visited archaeological site in Mexico and the second most visited archaeological site globally. It was one of the largest urban centers of the ancient world, which came to concentrate a population of over 100,000 inhabitants at its peak. Because of this, it is a must-see tour if you are visiting Mexico City. Depending on the date you visit this incredible place, you can find festivals, exhibitions, and shows.

This day is optional if you want to complement your tour with a hot air balloon ride to admire the sunrise over the pyramids of Teotihuacan (Please get in touch with us to include this experience). If you opt to do the Hot air Ballon, this tour will start at 5 am, but we assure you that it is an incredible experience. You will enjoy the best landscapes from where you can admire in detail every part of the archaeological site and fly over the impressive pyramids with the sunrise between your eyes. The balloon flight includes a light coffee break, flight certificate, toast, and travelerโ€™s insurance to make you feel more satisfied and confident that everything in the heights will be great.

After your flight, you will prepare for breakfast at the restaurant โ€œGran Teocalli,โ€ where Mexican cuisine is offered in different dishes combining the best ingredients to get the best flavors, and you can taste the best food. We will recommend local food, and just right after (not before :)), we will explain how it is done and what it contains. You will be surprised!

At the end of the exquisite breakfast, a Local guide from Teotihuacan will give you a tour with an explanation of the place. Teotihuacan, where โ€œmen become godsโ€ according to the description provided by the Mexica, is the oldest and one of the most majestic pre-Hispanic cities. It created a civilization that became one of the most powerful cultural sites in Mesoamerica. Teotihuacan was one of the largest urban centers of the ancient world, with a population of more than one hundred thousand inhabitants at its peak of splendor.

This tour of the archaeological site of Teotihuacan also includes a visit to the mural painting district, where you will visit four spaces where the living areas of the ancient groups of inhabitants of this ancient city were located. These places are the architectural complexes known as Tetitla, Tepantitla, Atetelco, and La Ventilla. You will find walls and floors decorated with pre-Columbian pictorial creations on this tour. In these fresco paintings, the Teotihuacanos left testimony of their daily activities, their way of life, their thoughts, and beliefs, through which you can have elements to imagine what life was like in what is considered the first Mesoamerican city.

After finishing the tour of the murals in the old neighborhoods of Teotihuacan, our team will take you to an impressive local workshop of Mexican products made from prickly pear cactus, nopal, and xoconostle to end the day. Here you will learn how these foods are used and their properties, contribute to the local community, and buy something you like! Learn how to make Salsa!

On our way back, we will continue to have a late lunch at the restaurant โ€œMonte Cristo,โ€ where its style and structure combine to give an old Mexican atmosphere where delicious dishes of Mexican cuisine are brought to life.

Authentic Mexican cuisine is composed of various dishes that reflect the richness of flavors, ingredients, and preparations accumulated over time from pre-Hispanic times to colonial and even contemporary. Nowadays, in many towns, ancient Mexican cuisine remains latent. The mixtures of flavors are so delicious that UNESCO declared Mexican gastronomy an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010. So, it would be best to try the culinary delights that Mexico has to offer at Meson Monte Cristo. Here you will be able to delight yourself with Mexican and unique ingredients that will create mind-blowing

flavors. Within the delicious menu, you will find some exotic dishes like dishes prepared with grasshoppers or maguey warms, Pulque, and all types of Salsas, among some delicious desserts and drinks to accompany your meal.

After our late lunch, we will then continue to Mexico City Downtown, and you can continue on your own for the rest evening. And in case you are still hungry, let us know, and we will help you with recommendations for dinner.
