  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Chengdu

      Day 1: Arrive At Chengdu

      Our guide and driver will pick you up from Chengdu airport and then send you to the hotel in Chengduโ€™s city area for you to refresh and relax. In the evening, we will hold a welcome dinner โ€“ here we can discuss any final questions you may have about this trip, whilst sampling some of the best dishes that Sichuan cuisine has to offer and looking forward to the upcoming journey.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Chengdu-Yaโ€™An-Kangding

      Day 2: Chengdu-Yaโ€™An-Kangding

      After breakfast we will drive about 2.5 hours to Bifengxia Panda Base located in the countryside of Yaโ€™an. Bifengxia is also a beautiful forest park with two valleys. We will first take a visit of the panda base in the park and learn about more details about Chinaโ€™s national treasure-the giant panda. You will have the opportunity to see both adults and cubs of the giant panda.  

      We will continue to head west to Kangding after lunch. Kangding is the capital of Ganzi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. After arrival, we will take a walk in the beautiful riverside town of Kangding. The altitude here is about 2,600 meters above sea level, and most of the locals are Kham Tibetans.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Kangding-Xinduqiao-Tagong-Danba

      Day 3: Kangding-Xinduqiao-Tagong-Danba

      Today we will continue to drive westwards along the famous South Sichuan-Tibet Route, also known as 318 National Road, which goes all the way to Lhasa. We will reach the 4,298 meter altitude Mount Zheduo Pass, where we will stop and take a short visit. This is the highest place we will pass during the whole trip.  

      When arriving at Xinduqiao, if the weather is good and clear, we will walk to the viewing point of Gongga Mountain, which is the highest peak of Sichuan Province. Gongga Mountain is 7,556 meters above sea level, and if the weather is good and clear, you will have the opportunity to see its snow-capped peak from Xinduqiao.  

      After leaving Xinduqiao, we will visit the beautiful grassland of Tagong and Huiyuan Monastery in Bamei before finally reaching Danba. If you like, you may ride a horse on Tagong Grassland. While Huiyuan Monastery is very important in Tibetan culture, because the 11th Dalai Lama was born in the village nearby.  

      We will arrive at Danba in the late afternoon and stay overnight in Jiaju Tibetan Village.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Explore Danbaโ€™S Beautiful Tibetan Villages

      Day 4: Explore Danbaโ€™S Beautiful Tibetan Villages

      In the morning we will first take a walk in Jiaju Tibetan Village. The local inhabitants are Gyalrong Tibetans, who also do farming besides raising animals. There are also fruit trees in the village, such as apples and pears. They have beautiful houses, built with bricks and wood.  

      Then we will go to Suopo Village and visit its watchtowers. Watchtowers used to be common in Gyalrong Tibetan area in the past. The locals used them to store weapons and food to defend themselves from any possible invasions from other tribes. Today we will also visit another Tibetan village called Zhonglu, which is also one of the most beautiful villages in Danba.  

      In the late afternoon we will get to the town of Danba and walk around to explore.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Danba-Mount Siguniang National Park

      Day 5: Danba-Mount Siguniang National Park

      After breakfast we will drive to Mount Siguniang National Park. The journey takes about 2 hours. We will walk in Changping Valley of the park. Siguniang means four sisters, because there are four beautiful peaks here. All the four peaks are more than 5,000 meters above sea level, and the highest one is 6,250 meters above sea level. If the weather is good and clear, while waking in Changping Valley, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning view of the four peaks.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Mount Siguniang-Maerkang
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Mount Siguniang-Maerkang

      In the morning we will first spend 3 to 4 hours exploring Shuangqiao Valley of Mount Siguniang National Park. After entering Shuangqiao Valley, we will take the sightseeing bus to the 6 different parts of the park, then we will walk around to explore them. Shuangqiao Valley is famous for its beautiful snow-capped peaks and riverside views.  

      After lunch drive to Maerkang, which is the capital of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. We will take a walk to explore the town in the late afternoon after arriving.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Maerkang-Taoping Qiang Minority Village-Chengdu

      Day 7: Maerkang-Taoping Qiang Minority Village-Chengdu

      In the morning we will visit Zhuokeji Chieftainโ€™s Office in the suburb of Maerkang. It is the place where the chieftain used to live and work. Chieftains were the rulers of the different parts of Sichuanโ€™s Tibetan area in the Ming and Qing dynasties (14th to early 20th century AD). You will learn some details about the history, culture and lifestyle of Gyalrong Tibetans at this place.  

      In the afternoon we will visit Taoping Qiang Minority Village on the way back to Chengdu. Qiang ethnic group are known as โ€™People Living above the Cloudsโ€™, because many of them used to live in the great mountains between Tibetan Plateau and Chengdu Plain. The village has a history of almost 2,000 years, and it is famous for its watchtowers, which were used in the past to store weapons, food, as well as defend themselves from invading enemies. We will visit the traditional houses and watchtowers in the village and learn about their culture and life.  

      We will drive back to Chengdu in the late afternoon and check in at the hotel. After some time to refresh we will hold a farewell dinner to reminisce on our journey and have a final feast on the delights of Sichuan food.
