      Syracuse was once the most powerful city-state of ancient Greece. The historic old town is located on the offshore island of Ortigia and fascinates with ancient sights. Even today, concerts are held in the ancient and well-preserved theater. Afterwards, you will visit the magnificent city of Noto. Destroyed by an earthquake in 1693, Noto (UNESCO World Heritage Site) was rebuilt during the height of the late Baroque period. (B/A)

Perched on the hilltop of 751-meter Monte Erice, the town offers a unique view of the west coast. (F)

      In the coastal town of Cefalรน, the imposing Norman Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage Site) rises in front of the mighty limestone massif. In Cefalรน you will be served a brioche, a typical egg roll, with ice cream. After a walk through the narrow streets, you will drive to the Parco delle Madonie. Here you will experience the original Sicily. Castelbuono grew around a fort and thus got its name. Taste the sweet pastry Torroncini alla Manna before a pleasant walk to immerse yourself in the nature of Sicily. (F)

      Organize the day to your liking or take the excursion "In the footsteps of the Godfather" (115 โ‚ฌ p.p., min. 6 participants; please book when registering). You will travel into the history of the Mafia in Corleone, learn about the ethnic diversity in the enclave of Piana degli Albanesi and visit the monument in Portella della Ginestra, which commemorates the victims of the massacre of farm workers on May 01, 1947.       In the morning you will visit the former trading city of Messina. The city is still today an economic and cultural center of Sicily. At noon you will listen to the famous carillon.       Day 13: Etna And Alcantara River

      Look forward to the highest still active volcano in Europe: Mount Etna (UNESCO World Heritage Site). You will drive up to an altitude of 1,900 meters into an alien-looking lunar landscape. With your tour guide you will discover Etna and learn interesting facts about the volcano and its influence on the local population. Depending on the weather, you have the option to continue on site with a cable car and jeeps to 2,800 meters (optional, bookable on site). During the visit of a beekeeper you will learn how productive the slopes of Etna are for the cultivation of various products. You will taste wine, olives and bread as well as the local honey. Then you will visit the Alcantara Gorge. Lava flows created a riverbed that gives you glimpses of canyons, the Gole dell Alcantara. Here you will find a canyon-like landscape.
