      Bust out the chic safari attire โ€“ our overland adventure begins in cosmopolitan Cape Town! Overlooked by Table Mountain and bordered by the Atlantic, Cape Town is one of the worldโ€™s most picturesque cities. Before we leave, weโ€™ll take a tour of the Cape Flats, one of the cityโ€™s intriguing townships. After that, weโ€™ll head to our campsite on the Western Cape, where weโ€™ll spend our first night under the huge African sky. This is gonna be one for the books!

      Tonight weโ€™ll set up camp on the South African side of the Gariep (Orange) River. If youโ€™re looking for a few creature comforts, youโ€™re in luck โ€“ our site provides hot showers, flush toilets, grassy floors and even a bar. Hello, sundowners!

  • Day 3 Day 3: Gariep (Orange) River To Fish River Canyon, Namibia

      Day 3: Gariep (Orange) River To Fish River Canyon, Namibia

      One of the natural wonders of Africa, Fish River Canyon is around 500 metres deep and over 160 kilometres long, and is the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon. Prep your camera lens for amazing photos this afternoon, especially when the sun begins to set over the sharp bend in the river known as โ€˜Hellโ€™s Cornerโ€™. Trust us, itโ€™s friendlier than its name implies.

      After a night near the canyon weโ€™ll continue north until we reach Namib Naukluft Park, which is home to the worldโ€™s oldest and highest desert sand dunes. With an overall area of 49,768 square kilometres, the park is larger than Switzerland!

      Day 5: Namib Naukluft National Park To Solitaire

      This morning weโ€™ll trek to the top of the famous Dune 45 and check out the amazing views of the open desert. Itโ€™s a spectacular sight, but be warned โ€“ itโ€™s an energy-sapping climb to the top (some dunes are over 300 metres high)! After a well-deserved breakfast, weโ€™ll continue deeper into the park. Be sure to bring your camera โ€“ the shifting colours of the desert as the sun climbs higher in the sky make for some great photo opportunities. After a day of exploring, weโ€™ll rest our heads in Solitaire.

      Swakopmund is Namibiaโ€™s main seaside resort, sandwiched slap bang between the desert and the ocean. Make the most of your time here with a spot of quad biking, sandboarding or skydiving (weather permitting). Not your thing? Steal a moment to yourself and take a look at the townโ€™s many shops, restaurants, museums and art galleries โ€“ or simply stroll along the promenade admiring the ocean. #beaut

      Day 8: Swakopmund To Spitzkoppe

      Our next stop is Spitzkoppe, where weโ€™ll take a closer look at the ancient bushman paintings that are still visible on the areaโ€™s peculiar rock formations. The rocks peak at approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, making for some ah-mazing views โ€“ one of the most impressive being the โ€™Bushman Paradiseโ€™ cave (Google it).

      Today weโ€™ll make our way north to Etosha National Park. After pitching our tents near a floodlit waterhole (OMG), weโ€™ll embark on a short afternoon game drive. As dusk falls, keep your eyes peeled for a range of nocturnal visitors โ€“ including elephants, giraffes, zebras, hyenas... and even lions!

      When we get to the Okavango Delta, weโ€™ll travel by mokoro (dugout canoe) past giant lily pads and tall grasses in search of hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds. After settling into our island tented camp, weโ€™ll explore the area on a walking safari. Anyone for critter bingo?

      Onwards to our bush lodge in Elephant Sands. Weโ€™ll give you one guess what youโ€™ll see here! As there are no fences, the animals roam freely from one waterhole to the next. Ah-mazing. Trust us โ€“ observing wild elephants at such close proximity will 100% be one of the most amazing experiences youโ€™ll have in Africa.

      Day 17: Nata To Kasane

      By size, Chobe is the third largest game park in Botswana โ€“ and itโ€™s home to a huge variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes and hippos. Itโ€™s got heaps of birdlife, too (keep an eye out for the famous African fish eagle). During our time here, weโ€™ll cruise down the Chobe River trying to spot hippos, elephants and buffaloes bathing in the water. Cameras at the ready!

      Bye bye, Chobe National Park. Today weโ€™ll be making tracks to Livingstone โ€“ where the almighty Victoria Falls awaits. Not only that, but weโ€™ve got some awesome optionals for you to get involved in, too. How about a bungy jump over the falls? Or a spot of gorge swinging? Or some abseiling? Or whitewater rafting? If youโ€™d rather go for something a little less heart-pumping, you could always opt in to take it easy with a fishing trip or sunset cruise down the river.
