      After breakfast, you will drive to the Gulf Coast to the Rio Lagartos National Park. The highlight of the nature reserve are the pink flamingos and pelicans, which you will observe during a boat trip. Afterwards you will visit the small Mayan site of Ek Balam, which will give you first impressions of the highly developed Mayan culture. (F)

      Day 3: New Wonder Of The World Chichen Itza

      To be among the first visitors of the day, you will leave early - itโ€™s off to a highlight of the trip, the Mayan site of Chichรฉn Itzรก (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Youโ€™ll have plenty of time to explore the siteโ€™s monuments and ruins. Besides the imposing Kukulkan pyramid with 91 steps, you will walk to the ball court and the Palace of the Thousand Columns. Afterwards, visit the cenote Yokdzonot, one of the largest cenotes in Yucatan. Yokdzonot is a free-fall open cenote where you descend 18 meters down a staircase to a wooden platform to access the water. The water has a blue or green hue depending on the season. Just admire the beauty of this place or refresh yourself in the cool water. Continue to Merida. 1 night there. (F)

      First, we will visit the excavations of Uxmal (UNESCO World Heritage Site). In the caves of Loltun once about 3,000 Maya sought protection from the Spanish troops. Later, you will visit a local family who, as descendants of the Maya, still maintain ancient customs. (F)

      A long, varied drive to Palenque awaits you. From the Gulf Coast, you will travel to the Champoton Naval Base and on to the foothills of the Chiapas rainforest. En route, stop for a swim in the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. 2 nights in Palenque. (F)

      Day 8: Excavations Palenque &Amp; Waterfalls

      Hidden in the evergreen rainforest of Chiapas is the Mayan site of Palenque (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Besides the most famous building, the Temple of the Inscriptions, you will explore the Palace, the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Cross during your tour. Afterwards, you will visit the Roberto Barrios waterfalls. When the sun shines, the water glitters in the most beautiful shades of blue. (F)

      Today you will leave early and first visit the Mayan site of Bonampak. Afterwards you will continue to the Lacandon village of Chansayab. During a jungle hike you will learn exciting facts about the exotic flora and fauna from your Lacandon guide. 1 night in rustic cabanas in the Lacandon village. (F)

      Day 10: Yaxchilan

      By river boat you will now travel on the Usumacinta River to the Mayan site of Yaxchilan. To the right and left of the shore you will be accompanied by the sounds of the jungle and with a little luck you will also discover crocodiles or howler monkeys on the trip. Your tour guide will lead you through the excavation site, to which there is still no access road. After your exploration you will cross the border to Guatemala by boat and bus and continue to Tikal (entry fee not included in the tour price). 1 night there. (F)

      As the sun creeps over the jungle branches of Petรฉn, sit atop Temple IV of the Mayan site of Tikal (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and enjoy the sunrise. The archaeological site was one of the most important cities of the Classic Maya era, experiencing its heyday in the 5th century. Testimony to this are the many temples, stelae and palaces that you will discover on your tour. In the afternoon you will cross the border into Belize and check into your hotel in San Ignacio (entry fee not included in the tour price). 1 night there. (B/M)

      Today you will explore the exciting national park and hike through a lush landscape to the stalactite cave system to marvel at the glittering crystalline formations there. Optionally, you can also join a cave tubing tour (optional, bookable locally). Afterwards, drive to the Baboon Sanctuary, considered the most successful conservation project in the country. Get up close and personal with these cute little animals! 1 night in Burell Boom. (F)

      Day 13: Drive To Bacalar

      You will visit the Mayan site of Altun Ha and then make a stop in the small town of Orange Walk, where you will visit the regional market and catch a glimpse of the daily life of the Mennonites. After crossing the border into Mexico, you will drive to the Seven Colors Lagoon in Bacalar and enjoy a refreshing swim in Cenote Azul. You will spend the night in an eco-hotel directly at the lagoon. (F)

      In the morning, an adventurous boat adventure in the Bacalar Lagoon is on your agenda. Then you will continue your journey to Tulum and visit the famous Mayan site, which towers high above the Caribbean Sea. 1 night in Puerto Morelos. (F)
