Meals

Guest meals are provided at the hotel and at local restaurants around the island. A full breakfast is provided each day before heading out for your adventure. Picnic lunches are provided on days when weโ€™ll be deep in the jungle on longer hikes. On other days, guests purchase lunches at local restaurants near our tour destinations. Included dinners will be provided at the hotel. Additional dinners can be purchased at the hotel or at a local restaurant (transportation is provided). All transportation after check-in and during your stay is included. Round trips to the airport or ferry are not included but we are happy to schedule taxi services for our guests.

Flights are not included in our packages, but we will be glad to assist you in research to help book the best flights to Dominica. American Airlines recently announced direct flights from Miami, FL to Marigot, Dominica (DOM) starting in December, 2021.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Welcome To Dominica - The Nature Island

      Day 1: Welcome To Dominica - The Nature Island

      After your arrival at the airport in the Northeast of the island, youโ€™ll take a 15-minute taxi to Wanderlust Caribbean. Your hosts will greet you with a welcome drink and orientation after check-in.

      Walk down our private trail to the beach for a refreshing swim and snorkel in the bay. Enjoy dinner on your private balcony or at our "family style" communal table where youโ€™ll meet your fellow travelers.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Waitukubuli National Trail (Wnt) - Segment 4

      Day 2: Waitukubuli National Trail (Wnt) - Segment 4

      This section of the WNT is located in the middle of the island and passes through some of the plantation land used for export crops in the 1700โ€™s & 1800โ€™s.  Youโ€™ll trek and scramble over varied terrain and swim in a spectacular box canyon waterfall pool towards the end of the hike.

      Today we head to the Portsmouth area where we will hike a beautiful segment of the Waitukubuli National Trail (WNT) overlooking the islands of Guadeloupe and Les Saintes. Weโ€™ll stop halfway to enjoy the views and have a picnic lunch. After the hike, we take a 15-minute drive to one of the most scenic hamlets on the West Coast. Here, youโ€™ll follow your guide and snorkel to stunning pristine reefs that support a wide variety of tropical marine life. 

      We end our day with a sunset dinner by the bay where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Caribbean.  

  • Day 4 Day 4: Waitukubuli National Trail - Segment 6

      Day 4: Waitukubuli National Trail - Segment 6

      Today we take a scenic driving tour down the wild Atlantic coast of Dominica to the Kalinago territory, the last remaining reservation of Amerindians in the Caribbean. Here, we meet and mingle with the local population as we hike through their farmlands. Halfway through our hike, we stop for lunch at the Kalinago Heritage Center and learn about their history and culture. Our hike finishes with a refreshing swim at a local river. 

      On our way back, we stop for drinks and a relaxing swim at one of Dominicaโ€™s most beautiful beaches.  Guests can buy dinner at the hotel or visit any of the local restaurants in Calibishie. Transportation is included.

      Day 5: River Hike And Beach Swim

      Start your day with a river hike to one of the best swimming spots on the island.  This spot is a local favorite and shows off one of the unique geological formations of Dominica. 

       

      Visit the best beach on the island and savor fresh fish served on a banana leaf as you enjoy a crescent shaped beach lined with palm trees and no crowds.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Boiling Lake Hike

      Day 6: Boiling Lake Hike

      Tackle the iconic hike of Dominica by exploring the second largest boiling lake in the world.  This hike will take you through mountainous terrain covered in tropical rainforest, through the Valley of Desolation and finally to the boiling lake itself.  You will climb and decend several thousand feet of elevation and the hike will last about seven(7) hours.

      An alternative group activity will be offered for guests that do not wish to tackle this demanding hike.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Explore Calibishie

      Day 7: Explore Calibishie

      Today we start with our signature Atlantic coastal hike as we explore volcanic rock formations, bath in white and black sand beaches, and visit a local chocolate factory where youโ€™ll learn about the confectionary process, and maybe buy some to take back home.  Weโ€™ll continue our hike down to the village of Calibishie for lunch. On the way, we will meet local fisherman and learn about their craft. Our hike finishes with a tour of the village as we hike back to the hotel. 

      Back at the hotel, you can go for a refreshing beach swim, or you can paddleboard, kayak, or snorkel to "Treasure Island" - A Pirates of the Caribbean film site. Mountain bikes are also available. Guests can buy dinner at the hotel or visit any of the local restaurants in Calibishie. Transportation is included.

      Weโ€™re sorry to see you leave, but all good things must end at some point.  After a satisfying breakfast, weโ€™ll arrange for transportation to the airport with plenty of time before your departure.
