      Day 1: Arrival In Bucharest.

      Meeting with the guide in the evening at the train station 1 hour before the train departure. Night train to Bucovina at 21:30 (sleeping car with 2 or 4 beds/ compartment, depending on availability, which we can find out only 3 weeks before departure. Train schedule is subject to change).

  • Day 2 Day 2: Discover Bucovina

      Day 2: Discover Bucovina

      In the morning, short private transfer to our hosts. After breakfast, you are ready to discover the deep Bucovina. After a short climb, we enter the forest and from there, depending on the movement of the herds, we could reach a shepherdโ€™s hut. We continue through the famous fir forest of Bucovina until we go back to the valley to discover one of the most important components of the unique monasteries of Bucovina, the painted monastery of Moldoviลฃa. From there, depending on your mood, we will either walk (5 km) through the village or take a local bus back to the guesthouse. Night in Moldoviลฃa.

      Day 3: Discover Pure Nature

      In the morning we will take a steam train. The steam train route runs along the Moldovita River. We get off in front of the railroad terminus, at the best starting point of our hike. This immersion into a peasant world will enchant you; the beautiful landscape with its flocks of sheep and horse carts reveals a great harmony. Overnight stay in the same place.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Get To Know Culture &Amp; Nature

      Day 4: Get To Know Culture &Amp; Nature

      Before our hike today, we will meet the Hutsul people; these inhabitants (with uncertain origins and history) will let us discover their art: egg painting. We will continue our hike through forests and fields that will take you to an unexpected rural world, still very much alive. After a short transfer we will reach from the field the monastery of Suceviลฃa, which offers us an impressive sight: Nature seems to protect the monastery like a jewel! The perfection of every detail on such a large fresco is amazing.

  • Day 5 Day 5: National Park

      Day 5: National Park

      Transfer to the border with MaramureลŸ (~3.30 hours transfer time) to Prislop Pass (1400m). From here we enter the National Park of Rodnei Mountains and start our hike with a gentle ascent to the glacial lake of Stiol (1700m). Our path will be dotted with various flowers such as rhododendron and gentian, depending on the season. From there we will enter the pine forest of the massif and descend to Horsesโ€™ Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Romania.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Discover History

      Day 6: Discover History

      The first stop of the day is the town of Sighetu Marmatiei, after a 2-hour transfer by car. Here we visit the "Memorial to the Victims of Communism", established in the prison where the main opponents of the regime were imprisoned without being sentenced. After lunch (optional visit to Sapanta Merry Cemetery) we will drive to the village of Desesti, where we will visit one of the most beautiful wooden churches of Maramures. From there we take a relaxing walk to our host village for tonight, Breb, the village where Prince Charles owns a beautiful old traditional house.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Maramures

      Day 7: Maramures

      Today we will discover MaramureลŸ between fields and forests. At any time of the year, the land is enlivened by the work in the fields. Before our hike we will visit the traditional wooden facilities of Sarbi, a fulling mill, a threshing machine, whirlpools and a distillery. Depending on the time, we will make a short stop at Bรขrsana Monastery, a masterpiece of MaramureลŸ wooden architecture. Then we will start our walk from village to village, finishing in the village of Botiza. There we will experience a weaving demonstration by one of the last women who master this ancient craft.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Saying Goodbye

      Day 8: Saying Goodbye

      On our last day we hike to the nearby village of Leud. We start the climb on a narrow path along a small stream surrounded by colorful flowers. At the end of the hike we will visit the oldest wooden church of MaramureลŸ, the one of Leud from the 14th century, which is a UNESCO heritage site. We end the tour with a 4-hour transfer to Cluj Napoca, the most important university city in Romania, with a cosmopolitan culture and Hungarian heritage waiting to be discovered.
