      Day 11: Summit Hike, Moldoveanu Peak @ 2544M (7-8Hrs) (B, L, D)

Now you are well acclimatised to the Carpathian mountains, perhaps one of the highlights of this adventure (but there are so many that it is hard to say..),is today’s opportunity to do a round trip incorporating Moldoveanu Peak, which, at 2544m is the highest peak in Romania by 17m! Heading out from Podragu with a tasty packed lunch, it is a 13km (approx 4hr) walk to the summit (total ascent 840m) via Podragu col (2307m), Vista Mare Peak, Romania’s 3rd highest (2527m) and then onto Moldoveanu. After pausing to absorb the scenery and the achievement, we return to Podragu for a second nigh. The terrain on this walk is varied, with some predictably steep ascents and some rocky and challenging terrain, particularly on the Vistea Mare ascent. This trail can be accessed all year round but summer months are the best in terms of weather. All attempts are weather dependent but your guide will look at the itinerary flexibly in order to maximise your chance of being able to complete this hike. .
