      Breakfast and departure north of Bucharest to Sinaia - one of Romaniaโ€™s finest holiday resorts, located deep into the Carpathian Mountains. In the late 19th century King Charles I of Romania chose Sinaia as his summer residence and built the fabulous Peles Castle, which is today one of Romaniaโ€™s best known landmarks. We will visit the castle and have lunch at a hunter restaurant in Sinaia.

      In the afternoon we will proceed to Bran Castle โ€“ linked with Count Dracula legend. 

      Because Bran Castle is the only castle in all of Transylvania that actually fits Bram Stokerโ€™s description of Draculaโ€™s Castle, it is known throughout the world as Draculaโ€™s Castle. Dracula โ€“ as he is perceived today โ€“ is a fictitious character whose name derives from the appellation given to Vlad Tepes, the ruler of Wallachia from the 15th c, who had an association with the Palace and the Bran โ€“ the closest gorge to Brasov.

      Departure to Brasov, check in at the hotel and independent dinner.

      Breakfast and continue to visit the Prejmer fortified church, founded by the Germanic Teutonic Knights ( 1212 โ€“ 1213 ), and then was eventually taken over by the Transylvanian Saxon community. Together with the surrounding village, the church forms part of the villages with fortified churches in Transylvania UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

      On the way visit Saschiz Jam Manufacture. On the road to Sighisoara short stop to Viscri โ€“ Prince Charle`s favourite realm in Romania. 

      Arrival in Sighisoara and visit the Clock tower and the Armour Museum.  

      Sighiศ™oara is considered to be the most beautiful and well-preserved inhabited citadel in Europe, with authentic medieval architecture. It has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

      During the tour we will have a lunch.

      Afternoon back to Brasov for 2nd night.

      Breakfast and departure back to Bucharest. Discovery tour of Bucharest with visit of the Parliament Palace โ€“ the 2nd largest administrative building in the world after the Penthagon in the USA ( or Cotroceni Palace in case a booking is rejected because of governmental events ). Independent lunch and free time in Bucharest. 

      Dinner with folklore performance at a traditional restaurant.

      Breakfast and pick up by Bulgarian guide for departure north to Bulgaria. We will cross Danube Bridge 1, known as the โ€œBridge of Friendshipโ€ to Ruse. The town is the most significant Bulgarian river port, with a beautiful  Neo-Baroque and Neo-Rococo architecture, which attracts many tourists. It is often called the Little Vienna.  Short panoramic tour in the old part โ€“ the main square, the Opera, the Theatre, St. Trinity Underground church, Alexandrovska Street. 

      Lunch and departure to Central Bulgaria and Veliko Turnovo. Check in at your hotel and late afternoon tour to visit the Medieval capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire โ€“ the so-called โ€œCity of Tsarsโ€. The old part of the city is situated on 4 hills, rising amidst the meanders of Yantra river. 

      You will visit Tsarevets Royal with with the Citadel, the Patriarh`s Church and Baldwin tower ( the leader of the 4th Crusade ), Samovoska Charshia with its traditional workshops, Gurko Street facing the river. Independent dinner.


  • Day 6 Day 6: Veliko Turnovo โ€“ Shipka - Kazanluk โ€“ Plovdiv ( B )

      Day 6: Veliko Turnovo โ€“ Shipka - Kazanluk โ€“ Plovdiv ( B )

      Breakfast and continue exploring Central Bulgaria. Today we will enjoy a scenic travel via Shipka mountain pass the Balkan Mountains down to Shipka memorial church and Kazanluk โ€“ the centre of rose oil extraction in Bulgaria. According to The Ultimate Visual Encyclopedia, Bulgaria is one of the the major suppliers of rose oil in the world and Kazanlakโ€™s rose gardens are the largest rose gardens in the whole world. 

      Kazanluk is known as well as the centre of the Valley of the Thracian kings. We will visit Kazanluk Thracian tomb ( UNESCO site, copy ) and the Rose Museum. Free time in Kazanluk for lunch and departure to Plovdiv.

      Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria, as well as one of the oldest cities in Europe. In 2019, it will be European capital of Culture.

      Arrival, panoramic tour and check in at the hotel.

      Morning city tour of the Old Plovdiv โ€“ historical reserve, awarded golden medal by UNESCO for its architecture. Walk along the longest pedestrian street in the world, enjoy some time in Kapana โ€“ the artistic neighbourhood of Plovdiv, via the remains of the Roman Forum, Stadium, Djumaya Mosque Square, the Ancient Amphitheatre and Kuyumdzhioglu House with its 130 windows ( Ethnographic museum ).  Lunch at a historic restaurant in the Old Plovdiv. 

      Afternoon departure to Borovets - the oldecst Bulgarian mountain resort, situated in Rila Mountain National Park with a history that dates back to 1896 when it was established as a hunting place for the Bulgarian Kings.

      Enjoy wonderful mountain and forest views and unspoilt nature. Check in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight.

      After breakfast we will head deep into Rila Mountains to find Rila Monastery โ€“ the largest monastery in Bulgaria, included in UNESCO list in 1983. Visit the monastery`s main yard and church, free time for lunch and departure to Sofia. Upon arrival โ€“ city tour of the capital city of Bulgaria, which the Roman emperor Constantine the Great called โ€œMy Romeโ€. Visit St. Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral ( entrance ), St. Sofia 6th c basilica ( entrance ), the Parliament square, National Theatre and the Old City Garden, the ex. Royal Palace ( National Art Gallery ), St. George 4th c Rotunda, the Presidency and Arena di Serdica ruins. Farewell dinner, overnight.
