      After a hearty breakfast, you will go on an extraordinary exploration tour through Bogota. By bike and on foot, you will discover artistic graffiti and learn more about street art life in the city. Of course, the historic buildings are not to be missed either. The crowning glory of the day is the magnificent view from the local mountain Monserrate (3150 m). Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      You leave the bustling capital and drive to the picturesque Laguna Guatavita (3000 m), where the legendary Eldorado is said to be located. Can you perhaps see the gold sparkling at the bottom of the lagoon? After a short hike, continue north to the colonial gem of Villa de Leyva (2150 m). Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 4 hours, 200 km; walking time approx. 2 hours).

      You have the opportunity to explore the colonial pearl on your own. Enchanting photo opportunities await you with whitewashed houses and artistic balconies. In the late morning, you will continue your journey towards the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, where you will arrive in the small village of El Cocuy (2750 m) in the evening.       Day 5: High Up Between Heaven And Earth

      After a hearty breakfast, the hiking boots are laced up. First of all, we take the off-road vehicles to the starting point (3800 m) of todayโ€™s hike. On the ascent, you hike through the paramo grass landscape typical of the Andes. The Cerro Mahoma (4150 m) is a rewarding destination, a panoramic mountain par excellence with fantastic 360ยฐ views. Enjoy the magnificent panorama of the Cocuy massif that opens up before you. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 2 h, 40 km; walking time approx. 4 h, 350 mโ†‘โ†“).

      Day 6: Through The Frailejones Valley

      The day starts very early and you first drive up to the La Esperanza sector at around 3700 m, where you arrive just in time for sunrise. You hike through the Frailejones Valley, which is dominated by the composite plants that give the valley its name. You pass the Laguna Grande (4500 m) and hike further up to the edge of the Pico Concavo glacier (4700 m). You descend and return to El Cocuy. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 2h, 40 km; walking time approx. 9h, 1030 mโ†‘โ†“, 18 km).

      Day 7: The King Of The Cocuy Massif: Ritacuba Blanco

      The final trip to El Cocuy National Park is on the program. The off-road vehicles take you into the Los Ritas Cubas sector to the Kanwara mountain hut (4000 m). You lace up your boots and begin the ascent to the glacier edge (5000 m) of the Ritacuba Blanco, which at 5410 m forms the roof of the mountain range (no ascent). You enjoy the fantastic panorama that awaits you and then make your way back to the mountain hut. Return to El Cocuy. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 2.5h, 60 km; walking time approx. 7-8h, 1040 mโ†‘โ†“, 14 km).

      You leave the Colombian trekkersโ€™ Eldorado and set off on a varied journey to Barichara (1280 m). The small village, a tranquil jewel, was declared a national cultural heritage site in 1978 and will also enchant you with its charm. Overnight stay in a guesthouse. (Travel time approx. 9 hours, 300 km).

      After a hearty breakfast, you set off on the royal road (Camino Real) to Guane, which was laid out in the 18th century at the instigation of a German settler. After a stroll through picturesque Guane, you will return to Barichara on a typical chiva. The afternoon is at your leisure. Stroll through Barichara and enjoy a delicious coffee or the local specialty: Hormigas Culonas (roasted ants). You can also make a detour to San Gil, for example to go on an optional rafting or paragliding excursion. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Walking time approx. 2h, 60 mโ†“, 6 km).

      You leave the cinematic town and first drive to a viewpoint from where you have a breathtaking view of the Chicamocha Canyon. The journey then continues to Bucaramanga, where you check in at the airport and fly to Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast. A short drive will then take you to your accommodation.       Day 11-12: Trekking To Ciudad Perdida

      In the morning, you first drive to Machetepelao (approx. 3 hours). From here you start trekking through the coastal rainforest to the lost city. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable 4-day trek that takes you through exotic flora and fauna, over suspension bridges and past rushing waterfalls deeper and deeper into the almost untouched jungle. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain range in the world. From the highest point, the Pico Bolivar at 5775 m, to the sea is just 42 km as the crow flies. The Sierra Nevada encompasses all vegetation and climate zones found on earth. These include tropical cloud forest, humid and less humid foothill forests, humid mountain forest, rainy tundra and perpetual snow. The extremely biodiverse area attracts interest from scientists, nature lovers, hikers and mountaineers alike. The Sierra is also home to various indigenous groups, such as the Arhuacos and Kogis, some of whom still live here without contact to modern civilization. 2 nights in simple camps.       The third day of trekking takes you to the lost city early in the morning, where you will experience the magical moment of sunrise over the ruins. Ciudad Perdida is one of the most outstanding archaeological sites on the continent. It lies at an altitude of around 900 - 1300 m, in the middle of dense jungle. Most of the city was built between the 11th and 16th centuries. It is the former center of the Tairona indigenous people, who built more than 200 other terraced settlement centers across the Sierra Nevada during this time and connected them with an elaborate network of paths. The ancestors of the indigenous people still living in this area today were highly developed, which they also expressed in their handicrafts. Fine gold jewelry and painstakingly crafted ceramics can be admired today, mainly in the Gold Museum in Bogota. Overnight stay in a simple camp. (Walking time approx. 4h, 1200 mโ†‘โ†“, 9 km).

      The last stage of the day takes you back to the starting point of the trek. From here, an off-road vehicle takes you back down to the Caribbean coast.       Today you will explore the beautiful Tayrona National Park on an easy hike. You walk through dense jungle to the white, palm-fringed Caribbean beaches of Arrecifes. Enjoy the scenery, which comes pretty close to the idea of paradise. At Cabo San Juan del Guia there is also the opportunity to go snorkeling later on. Overnight stay as on the previous day.       Day 16: Along The Coast To Cartagena

      You leave this paradisiacal gem and travel along the Caribbean coast to the crowning finale of this Colombia trip. Cartagena, the pearl of the Caribbean, awaits you. From the La Popa monastery, you first enjoy a breathtaking view over the entire city. From there, continue to the largest fortress built by the Spanish in South America: Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. You will visit the fortress, including some tunnels and the statue of Don Blas de Lezo. You then return to the city center to visit the most important sights, such as the official entrance to the walled city with the Clock Tower (Torre del Reloj). Behind it is the monument to Don Pedro de Heredia, the founder of Cartagena de Indias (1533). You stroll through the narrow, colorful streets, past wonderful squares, parks and churches. And along the way, you will learn more about the founding of Cartagena and the interesting stories full of legends and pirates. In the evening, round off your Colombia trip on the historic ramparts in the Cafรฉ del Mar with a delicious cocktail. Overnight stay at the hotel.
