The staff is trained to deal with medical emergencies in remote wilderness and to stabilize and monitor a patient before they receive proper care. They will communicate with local emergency response services. For injuries that do not require emergency response evacuation services, your guides will most likely get you safely to hospitals in major Colombian cities. You need to bring your passport on your person. Hospitals will ONLY accept you as a patient if you have your passport I.D. (NOT copy) with you.

Do I need any specific vaccination?

There are no mandatory vaccinations; however, it is advisable to be up to date with the regular vaccinations.

What happens if I'm a solo traveler?

As a solo traveler, you have the option of joining a group on any of the day or multi-day adventure tours. Rafting trips require a minimum of 4 people to a raft, so they connect solo-travelers to like-minded people in order to make a once in a lifetime trip possible. As a solo traveler, you also have the option of joining guides for a private tour on any of the non-rafting adventure tours and active holidays. Private tours are exclusive, so they cost more than the prices listed on the site.

What type of clothes should I take?

You should take appropriate clothing for the activities, such as bathing suit, long lightweight pants, breathable shirt, hiking poles (optional), warm layer, rain jacket, good closed-toe shoes for the river and hiking shoes. We also recommend you to take repellent, sunscreen and a hat.

Will I be able to charge my electronic devices? Do I need a converter?

Yes, you can charge your devices at the hotels. There's no need for a converter, if these devices use the North America outlet and voltage.

Is there Wi-Fi and/or phone coverage?

You are received at Medellín’s José María Córdoba International Airport before an hour-long drive into the impressive Medellín Valley. You spend the night at a boutique hotel located in the heart of Medellín’s cosmopolitan neighborhood: El Poblado. You enjoy of a free evening to explore the safe and walkable neighborhood with dinner recommendations from your guide for every craving and budget.

Day 2 Coffee plantation- Medellin

After breakfast at your hotel, you meet your guide for a scenic drive through the Andean mountains of Colombia’s coffee region. After driving for 1 ½ hours, you get to the traditional coffee farm, and go around exploring the plantation with a coffee grower who shows you the process from planting to roasting. You will learn how coffee is linked to every Colombian family and how its history is a source of pride for them. Later, you return to the 'Hacienda' for a delicious Colombian lunch; and spend the rest of the afternoon by the private swimming pool, or arrange to go horseback riding in the nearby mountains. By late afternoon, you go back to your hotel in the Poblado neighborhood of Medellin.

Day 3 Medellin activities

After breakfast at your hotel, you go on an intermediate hike or a tandem paragliding flight:
A) Paraglide:
Your guide meets you at your hotel at 9:00 a.m. to drive 20 minutes from Medellín to the small town of San Felix, settled on a mountainside overlooking the entire city of Medellin. You take a tandem paragliding flight over a waterfall and the city of Medellín with a highly experienced paragliding instructor. Depending on weather conditions, you enjoy a 20-minute minimum flight and land within a designated area. Later, you are picked up from the landing strip to return to your hotel in Poblado by lunch. In the afternoon, you enjoy of some free time to relax or explore Medellin.
B) Hike:
You meet your guide at the hotel after breakfast and drive 2 hours to the town village of Belmira, a Spanish-style town located at an altitude of 2,500 m. From the Belmira, you start the intermediate day hike and climb nearly 700 meters in elevation. As you hike, you see strange endemic plants that can only be found in one of Colombia’s rarest ecosystem: the Páramo. This place has some of the fastest evolving plants and bird species in the world. There are mountainsides of cacti circling alpine lakes, coral-like plants, and blossoming flowers on succulent plants. Once you reach the mountain top, you enjoy a picnic lunch while you soak in the natural beauty of the mountain range. After your hike, you are driven back to Medellín and get to the hotel by 8 p.m.

Day 4 Medellin

You go on a walking city tour of Medellín which starts with a visit to the botanical garden. Next, you stroll through the iconic collection of bronze sculptures at Plaza Botero and then board Medellin’s ultramodern Metro system, one of the best in the world. The network includes the world’s first gondola designed for public transportation. This gondola provides for stunning views. Later, you go on the subway to San Javier, where you visit the Comuna 13 community art project. Once the most dangerous neighborhood in Medellin, is now experiencing an incredible transformation. After an installation of a series of escalators, the community responded with a massive mural project that now covers many of the walls in the neighborhood. Finally you return to the hotel, and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Day 5 Calderas River- Medellin

Calderas River- Medellin

After breakfast, you meet the tour guide at 8 a.m. and drive for 1 ½ hours towards Calderas River. You listen to the safety talk and river rescue, so you can finally raft for 3 hours on pure adrenaline. Later, you relax on a secluded beach, and have a gourmet lunch, relax, and swim. Finally, you go back to the hotel on the luxury vans, reaching Medellin by 5 pm.

Day 6 Medellin

After your adventurous day on the river, you enjoy a relaxing day in Medellín. You could visit the nearby parks in Envigado, or Arví Park. Straight from the city’s metro, you can hop on a cable car that brings you up the slopes of the city to a beautiful nature preserve with walking trails. You could also explore Santa Elena, a rural town close to Medellín, famous for its flower growing tradition.

Day 7 Guatapé- Medellin

You meet your guide in the hotel lobby to begin a 2-hour drive to the iconic sites of El Peñol and Guatapé. You go on a walking tour through the countryside for 2 hours as you learn about the original town of Guatapé and the armed conflict surrounding the building of the dam that was renamed to Guatapé Lake. You take the road less traveled to gain an insider’s perspective on the real story of Guatapé. As you walk towards the town of El Peñol, you take in stunning views of the dazzling Peñol Rock. You climb the 700 steps of El Peñol to admire the classic view of Guatape Lake's reservoir. Later, you relax in Guatape, the most colorful town in Colombia, and admire the town’s beautiful artwork along the lower half of its buildings. Then, you enjoy a typical dish of freshwater fish, or other local delicacies; and return to your hotel in Poblado, Medellín by 7 p.m.
