      Day 2: Vilnius โ€” โ€œJerusalem Of The Eastโ€

Today you will deepen your acquaintance with Vilnius, which is a living mosaic of testimonies of different eras. Walking through the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the mysteries of the Middle Ages, the Vilnius Baroque and the treasures of modern times come together. The University with its thirteen courtyards, the proud Presidential Palace, the venerable German Street, the City Gate of Dawn and the colorful Glass Quarter will tell you many secrets of the past. You wonโ€™t miss the countless churches, especially the Gothic ensemble with the Church of St. Anna on the Vilnia River. Even Napoleon admired it and wanted to "carry it on his hands to Paris". In the artistsโ€™ quarter of Uzupis, with its own anthem and national border, you will meet the alternative and modern side of the city. In the afternoon you will be amazed by the Baroque masterpiece, St. Peter and Paul Church, with its unique stucco work inside. In a craft beer brewery, the brewer himself will answer all your questions about the brewing process and the history of the small brewery. • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: From Vilnius Via The Moated Castle Of Trakai To The Curonian Lagoon

The day starts with a highlight: Trakai. The city between three lakes is known for its unspoiled landscapes, nature reserves, forests and especially the Trakai moated castle. The only preserved Gothic moated castle in Europe is enthroned on an island and, with its glowing red round corner towers, is probably the most popular photo motif in the entire Baltic States. Before you wander through the impressive rooms, admire the building from a completely different perspective: from a boat during a trip on Lake Trakai. At noon you are invited to a rural homestead. Here, at the latest, you will get to know the kindness of the Lithuanian people. Your hostess will show you around the house and will tell you about her life. Let yourself be surprised by the tasty meal that will be prepared for you. In the afternoon Klaipeda welcomes you. Lithuaniaโ€™s only port city and "gateway to the world" is located at the mouth of the Curonian Lagoon into the Baltic Sea. During a short walk through the narrow streets of the old town you will discover half-timbered houses, old warehouses and many traces of the German past. A popular photo motif is the Simon-Dach fountain with the monument of ร„nnchen von Tharau on the Theaterplatz.

      Meals
Breakfast and lunch on a farmstead are included.

You can reach the Theater Square with the Simon Roof Fountain after a 10-minute walk. You can also easily reach the numerous restaurants and pubs on foot. Alternatively, the hotelโ€™s own restaurant "WeiรŸes Pferd" will spoil you with local dishes. Each room is comfortable and elegantly designed. Day 4: Sand Dunes, Lagoon And Sea

The ferry takes you to one of the most fascinating stretches of land in Europe, the Curonian Spit - a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in equal measure. The spit of land jutting almost 100 kilometers into the Baltic Sea is home to countless sand dunes and bird sanctuaries. First, youโ€™ll visit the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center, which opened in April 2023. During a one-hour tour, youโ€™ll learn all about the rescue, protection, and care of seals and birds that are increasingly stranded on Lithuaniaโ€™s coast due to pollution of the Baltic Sea. Your visit will help support this new project through the Chameleon Foundation. Afterwards, youโ€™ll stroll through the fishing village of Nida, right on the High Dune. With its unique spa pennants, spa barges, historic cemetery and Lutheran fishermenโ€™s church, the village inspired not only Thomas Mann in his summer house, but also the French writer Jean-Paul Sartre. Afterwards, walk for about an hour through the dune world and climb the Tote Dรผne. With sand between your toes, enjoy the view of the undulating Baltic Sea and listen to the howling wind. What would the Baltic Sea be without amber? In the old royal workshop you look over the shoulder of an amber carver. You will get to know the different tools and learn one or the other secret about fishing for the gold of the Baltic Sea. Try your hand at making an amulet or a lucky talisman. Then get on the boat and change your perspective. For about an hour you will sail on the Curonian Lagoon to the border of Russia and admire the grace and dimension of the sand dunes from the water. What a picture!

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Impressive: Hill Of Crosses And Rundale Castle

Your way leads from the Curonian Lagoon to Riga. The first highlight is not long in coming: the Hill of Crosses near Siauliai. The pilgrimage site has been considered a symbol of freedom and Lithuanian resistance since the mid-19th century. Today the hill is covered with thousands and thousands of crosses made of various materials, erected by pilgrims from all over the world. Even Pope John Paul II celebrated a mass here and left a cross. After a short drive you are already on Latvian soil and marvel at the enchanting Rundale Castle, also called the "Versailles of the Baltic". The former residence of the duke of Courland was designed by star architect Francesco Rastrelli, just like the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. With its Baroque and Rococo architecture, extensive gardens and charming sculptures, the palace is now one of Latviaโ€™s most important architectural monuments and is known far beyond the borders of the Baltic States. In the evening, you will arrive in Riga, the largest city in the Baltics. Make yourself comfortable in your hotel room and look forward to tomorrow. Only so much is betrayed: Riga was the European Capital of Culture for a reason.

The image of the former Hanseatic city is characterized by massive bridges connecting the banks of the Daugava, dominating towers and churches from the 13th century and the magnificent facades of Art Nouveau architecture. The castle ruins from the Livonian period and the parks give the knightโ€™s town an almost romantic atmosphere. Afterwards you will drive to Estonia to your accommodation in Lahemaa National Park.

With its rugged bays, lonely forests, bogs, cute fishing villages and legendary beach villages, the park is not only a dream of many hiking enthusiasts. Even today, moose, lynx and even bears roam this untouched nature. After breakfast you will stroll through Altja and Kรคsmu, typical Estonian fishing villages with old coastal farms and lovingly restored net barns. The national park is also home to some of Estoniaโ€™s most beautiful estates, such as Palmse Manor, which you will visit afterwards. The restored manor complex is one of the most magnificent baroque manors in the country and gives an excellent idea of how the lords lived in those centuries. Before you leave the national park, you will walk through the moorland. Together with your guide you will walk for about an hour across the Viru Raba high moor and become part of this interesting habitat.

On foot you will discover the medieval picture-book city of Tallinn. With its impressive city walls and high defense towers, the helmeted churches and colorful houses that stand so close together as if they were supporting each other, the former Hanseatic city has retained its charm. Above the Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, tower the Cathedral Church and the Long Hermann Castle Tower, two landmarks of Tallinn. On your city tour, youโ€™ll admire equally magnificent buildings such as the Kiek-in-de-Kรถk Powder Tower, Toompea Castle and Alexander Nevski Cathedral, as well as Cathedral Hill, from which you can almost see Finland in good weather. Be excited for the afternoon as you experience a very special medieval guided tour of Tallinn. Your local guide will tell you many stories and you can even look forward to street art. Weโ€™ll finish with a glass of Klarett at Raeapteek, the oldest pharmacy in Europe. The apothecary wine has been made the same way since 1467. In addition to nature and tradition, Estonia is an epitome of modernity. Did you know that the software for Skype was developed by three Estonians? The Telliskivi district is the model of the new Tallinn. A picturesque 20-minute walk from the Old Town is the formerly abandoned industrial area of Telliskivi Creative City. The buildings have been converted into a thriving creative center with galleries, stores, restaurants and music venues. Why not take a look around there as part of an individual city break?
