Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Romania
Stop At: Brasov, Brasov, Brasov County, Central Romania, Transylvania
Day 1: Meet your guide in the airport; transfer to Brasov. After a short tour in Brasovโs old city center, you have dinner and youโll be given more details about the tour, accompanied by your guide. Accommodation: 3* hotel in Brasov.

Day 2: Retezat National park
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 2: Breakfast. Meet your guide, check gear, make final preparations, embark in private van and head west to the small village called Ohaba. Here, we change to another van, specialized for mountain roads, which will take us at an altitude of 1000m at Carnic. From here we have a 2 hour hike to Pietrele Chalet at 1480m, in Retezat National Park. In the evening our hosts are waiting for us with hot dinner. Accommodation: small chalets with 4-8 beds.

Day 3: Climb to Papusa peak (2508 meters)
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 3: Breakfast. Start from Chalet Pietrele along โValea Reaโ to Papusa peak 2508 m., the second peak of the massif. Reach the peak after 5 โ 7 hours, depending on weather conditions and training level of tourists. Descend on the same route 4-5 hours or, if the guide decides itโs possible, there are other two descents available, 6-8 hours. Dinner at Pietrele Chalet.

Day 4: Climb to Peleaga peak (2509 meters)
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 4: Breakfast. Start from Chalet Pietrele along Pietrele Valley to Curmatura Bucurei 2206 m. From here on the Custura Bucurei ridge to Peleaga summit โ 2509 m, the highest peak of the massif. Reach the peak after 5-7 hours, depending on weather conditions and training level. Descend on the same route 4 โ 5 hours; if the guide decides it is possible, there are also other descents available, but they are longer. One of these alternative descents is passing by Bucura Glaciar Lake, the largest lake in the Carpathians. Return to Chalet Pietrele, dinner.

Day 5: Climb to Stanisoara ridge
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 5: Breakfast. Start from Chalet Pietrele along Pietrele valley, climb Stanisoara ridge, one of the most beautiful ridges of Retezat Mountains. Pass a few technical passages, so today it is necessary to wear harness and a helmet, but if necessary we can avoid some of these areas. Descend by Stanisoara Valley or Pietrele Valley. Return to Chalet Pietrele, dinner. Total time 6-10 hours.

Day 6: Climb to Retezat peak (2482 meters)
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 6: Breakfast, then from Chalet Pietrele start to Retezat peak 2482m. Take Lolaia ridge or Stanisoara valley to the summit which we reach in 4-5 hours. Descend through the summer saddle along Stanisoara valley, back in 4-5 hours to Chalet Pietrele. Dinner.

Day 7: Climb to Varful Mare peak (2463 meters)
Stop At: Parcul National Retezat, Dj686, Rausor 337423 Romania
Day 7: Breakfast. Start by Galesu Valley, reach Varful Mare peak 2463 m. Here, we have a wonderful view over the main peaks. Descend by Galesu Valley or Valea Rea Valley. Return to Pietrele Chalet. Dinner. Total time 8-10 hours.

Day 8: Breakfast. Descend 1 hour to Carnic. Here, a van will take us down to Ohaba. Here we switch vans and drive back to Brasov with a stop for lunch. Farewell dinner in the evening. Accommodation: hotel in Brasov.
