  • Day 1 Day 1: From Beit Guvrin To Srigim

      Day 1: From Beit Guvrin To Srigim

      The day starts in the morning at Beit Shemesh station (30-60 minutes by public transport from Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem or Ben-Gurion airport). A driver picks you up, receives your luggage and drives you to the starting point in Bet Guvrin National Park. Start your day with a visit to this unique park, which is a mix of unique caves with archaeology and nature. During most of the day, you will cross the rolling hills of the Judean Plain from south to north along the INT. (Israel National Trail). From the hills you can enjoy 360ยฐ panoramic views of the surrounding Judean plains, the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Hebron mountains to the east. It continues slightly up and down until you reach the small village of Srigim and the property. In Srigim, you can end the day at the local brewery or winery.

      Day 2: From Srigim To Kibbutz Netiv Halamed Heh

      The hike starts directly at the accommodation and the day begins with a short climb to the top of Tel-Azekah. The place where the famous battle between David and Goliath took place (1 Samuel 17).
      After enjoying the beautiful view of the Elah Valley and imagining the biblical scene, you will continue hiking to another impressive ancient site. On another hilltop overlooking the Elah Valley stand the ruins of the fortress of Elah (Hirbet Kaifeh). It is the site of an ancient fortress dated to the 10th century BC.
      After descending from the hill, climb the 3rd and last hill of the day, Turmus Hill. From the top you will have a good view of Tel Azekah, which you visited in the morning. Anyway, the hill has gotten its fame as one of the best places in Israel to experience the lupine bloom (Usually in March and April).
      A short walk from Turmus Hill and you will reach the end of the hike at Kibbutz Netiv Halamed Heh. The kibbutz is named after the "Lamed Heh Platoon." A group of 35 Palmach soldiers who were killed in battle here on Jan. 15, 1948. After settling into your accommodation, you can tour the memorial and visit another boutique winery (which is also a restaurant).

  • Day 3 Day 3: From Netiv Halamed Heh To Nes Harim

      Day 3: From Netiv Halamed Heh To Nes Harim

      A 10-minute cab ride will take you to the trailhead at the entrance of the Hameara Wadi. "Hameara" translates to "the cave". And indeed, after 1-2 km up the wadi, you will discover a cave opening on the north slope of the wadi. You have reached the "Twins Cave" ("Mearat Hateomim"), the name of the cave comes from an ancient legend according to which a barren woman gave birth to twins after drinking from the spring that flows inside the cave. The entrance to the cave is closed in winter (Nov.-March) to protect the various species of bats that live in the cave. Visiting the cave is an exciting experience, but bring a flashlight (preferably a headlamp). At the top of the wadi, climb to a small peak where the ruins of Beit Itab are located. The ruins are a mixture of Crusader remains and a 19th-century village. Century. The view of the surrounding mountains and the romantic ruins are a great backdrop for a break. A short walk brings you to the main street and the restaurant "Barbahar". It is a trendy cafe/restaurant with a large outdoor balcony overlooking the mountains - a perfect place to relax.
      There are 2 options from here:

      • The short one is to walk directly to your accommodation in Nes Harim. (About 2 km)
      • The longer one is to add a 5 km round trip to visit an ancient Muslim tomb called "Dir a Sheich". The contrast between the white ruins and the green forest is a beautiful place. It is surrounded by fruit trees and spring flowers.

  • Day 4 Day 4: From Nes Harim To Jerusalem

      Day 4: From Nes Harim To Jerusalem

      The trail starts right at the property.
      The first section of the day takes you through the exciting Ktalav wadi. The wadi gets its name from the red ktalav tree (Arbutus Andrachne) that populates its forest.
      After the wadi, follow a series of dirt roads that will eventually lead us to the Seadim ruins and the beginning of the โ€œSprings Trailโ€. A short 4 km long path that visits five small attractive springs. The last source, Ein Handak, is a โ€œtunnelโ€ source. The ancient tunnel was carved into the rock to reach the water source. Itโ€™s a fun experience to walk 50 meters inside the tunnel to its end. (You need to use a flashlight) A few kilometers uphill takes you to the centre of the picturesque Jerusalem district of Ein Karem, where you can visit one of the many cafes, restaurants and galleries.
      A taxi will take you back to Nes Harim, where you can pick up your luggage.
      note:
      If 23 km is too much for you, the day can be shortened to 8 km by starting it at the Springs Trail. (Requires an extra taxi transfer at the start of the hike, payable locally).
