      International flight to Guatemala. Arrival at the Airport "La Aurora" in Guatemala City where

      you will be welcomed by our partner, then transfer to Antigua to the selected hotel. Rest of the day at leisure for private activities.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Antigua - Chichicastenango - Panajachel

      Day 2: Antigua - Chichicastenango - Panajachel

      After breakfast, drive to Chichicastenango. There we will visit a famous Indian market built 400 years ago and the Church of Santo Tomรกs. Highlight of the tour is the observation of Catholic ceremonies mixed with pre-Hispanic rituals. Transfer to Panajachel on the shores of Atitlรกn Lake. This lake is popular due to its impressive look over the lake and its three volcanoes: San Pedro, Tolimรกn and Atitlรกn. The afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy the quiet and beautiful place.       After breakfast, we drive to Quetzaltenango, also known as Xelajรบ. Here we visit narrow streets on a guided tour of the historic center. Quetzaltenango is one of the most beautiful cities in the Guatemalan highlands, where you will see an alliance between climate and tradition. Just a few kilometers away from the town, we pass Zunil and Almolonga, two villages from the origin of the Quichรฉ Indians. After a tour of the villages, we go to your chosen accommodation. (B)

      Today we will visit one of the oldest cities in the Americas: ANTIGUA GUATEMALA, founded by the Spaniards in 1543 during the period of the Conquista (Conquest). Antigua Guatemala is world heritage site, which is not least due to its large number of ruins, churches, monasteries, and paved streets. In addition, the handicrafts, the many art shops, museums and of course the colourful and rich culture awareness give this place all its glory. Afternoon tour of Santa Marรญa de Jesรบs with its colonial church. We visit the Baroque-style Church of San Juan del Obispo, all located in the vicinity of the Water Volcano. Hotel accommodation (B)

      Trip to the Pacaya volcano, located in San Vicente Pacaya, declared a National Park. The Pacaya vulcano is the most active and most accessible volcano in Guatemala with an altitude of 2,500 meters and is truly a wonder of nature. Back to Ciudad Guatemala to the selected Hotel (B)

      After lunch, transfer to the small but beautiful Isla de Flores. Transfer to La Aurora

      International Airport for your flight to Petรฉn. Reception by our partner and drive to the

      National Park of Tikal. Visit the excavation site. Tikal is located in the tropical rainforest of El Petรฉn and considered the most spectacular and the most popular destination in the Mundo Maya. It flourished during the third and the fourth century AD and was inhabited in an area of 576 Km2 with about 55,000 people. The city was built more than 1100 years without any stop. In 1979, it was declared a UNESCO natural and cultural heritage of humanity. After lunch, transfer to the small but nice Isla Flores. Accommodation on the island. (B)

      Breakfast at the hotel. Today we visit one of the finest archaeological sites of the Mayan world, founded in 1200 BC and soon afterwards neglected. In this place, there is the largest single collection of Mayan sculptures. We will see the Acropolis and visit the temple and the altar XI Q, built by Yaspac, king of Copan. Subsequently, we will also visit his tomb. Accommodation in the hotel. (B)

      basilica and watch the people in the worship of the "Black Christ". Continue to the border with El Salvador in Anguiatรบ. After a short drive, we reach the heroic city of Santa Ana. Visit the historical centre with the cathedral and the theatre. Hotel accommodation (B)

      After breakfast, we drive to Cerro Verde. From there you get one of the best views of the city. Experience the feeling of being up close to the volcano and watch the little clouds of smoke rising from the crater of the still active volcano. We descend into the crater of another volcano located on the lake where we will have lunch later. In the afternoon we will visit the Joyas Cerรฉn, one of the most important pre-Hispanic settlements in the area. This settlement was buried 1,400 years ago from the ashes of the Caldera volcano. Buildings of adobe (clay bricks), with fossilized beans, knives made of obsidian and jade, and deer bones were found there. Joya de Cerรฉn was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the visit return to San Salvador and accommodation at the selected hotel (B) (L)

      After breakfast, visit to the capital of El Salvador with its newer residential areas, the town

      centre, the historical monuments, and the shopping area. Continue to Suchitoto, about 44 km away from the capital. The city, from where you can look directly at the Suchitlรกn Lake has beautiful, paved roads that go very well with the pastel-coloured houses with wrought iron doors. Lunch.       After breakfast, we head towards Amatillo at the border. On the way, we see the cities

      Usulutรกn and San Miguel. In addition, we enjoy on this route the beautiful views of the volcanic chain of El Salvador with four volcanoes. Then we cross the border with Nicaragua at El Guasaule. We continue our trip to the city of Leรณn. Hotel accommodation and registration. Overnight (B)

  • Day 15 Day 15: Leon - Managua

      The colonial city of Leรณn is famous because of its university status and its architecture. Leรณn is the first town founded in America by the Spanish "Conquistadores". Leon was the intellectual cradle of the great poet Rubรฉn Darรญo, Father of Modernism and Prince of Castilian literature. We will see, among other things, the most important churches: La Recolecciรณn, El Calvario and the beautiful cathedral where the remains of Ruben Darรญo rest. We climb to the dome and enjoy the beautiful views of the volcanic chain. Continue to Managua. On the way, we see the ancient ruins of Leรณn Viejo (Old Leรณn), which were buried in a volcanic eruption. Once in Managua, visit of the city with some of the museums, the historic centre, the Lake Managua, the Presidential House, the Loma de Tiscapa and the Palace of Culture. We head up to the hotel for registration. Rest of the day at leisure for private activities and to discover this magnificent city. Overnight in Managua (B)

  • Day 16 Day 16: Managua - Masaya - Granada

      Day 16: Managua - Masaya - Granada

      Today we take a trip to the National Park of the volcano Masaya and its Museum of Natural History. Free time for hiking or photography. Continue to Granada, with its beautiful and majestic colonial architecture from the 18th Century. Even today, there are horse coaches through the narrow streets, which transport us into the past. Thus, we get a slightly more specific idea of the customs during the Spanish "conquest". City tour with the church and the archaeological museum of the San Francisco Monastery, the Cathedral, the Xalteva church, the Church of La Merced, the Church of Guadalupe, the fortress of the pulver and other colonial buildings with great architecture. After lunch, we drive through the islands of the great lake. El Gran Lago consists of more than 365 small islands, which are a great natural resource for cormorants and other birds.       Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Mombacho Volcano and visit a biological station on the summit of the volcano. Beautiful paths with a thousand-year-old trees characterize the climb. We will monitor the endemic fauna and its orchids and learn about the natural reserve. We watch the fumaroles of the volcano with its effluent gases and hike the paths of the "Bosque Enano" (dwarf forest). Noteworthy is the excellent coffee that comes from this area and obtain thanks the fertility of the land its special quality. Return to Granada. The rest of the evening is at leisure for personal activities. Accommodation. (B)

      We go today to the port of San Jorge, from where we get on board a small boat to the island of Ometepe, religious sanctuary of the native Indians. After visiting the archaeological museum de Altagracia, the Jesus Marรญa Peak and the lagoon Charco Verde with his legend. We continue to the hotel for registration and rest. Free time for private activities. Accommodation at the selected hotel. (B)

  • Day 19 Day 19: Ometepe

      Breakfast at the hotel. Ometepe is an island formed by two volcanoes rising out of Lake

      Nicaragua. Its name derives from the Nahuatl words ome (two) and tepetl (mountain),

      meaning "two mountains". The two volcanoes (known as Volcรกn Concepciรณn and Volcรกn

      Maderas) are joined by a low isthmus to form one island in the shape of an hourglass,

      dumbbell or peanut. The island has an economy based on livestock, agriculture, and tourism. Today the ascent to the Maderas volcano up to the summit is on the program. If you want to, and the climate allows, you can swim in the lagoon. Late afternoon return to the hotel in Ometepe. (B)

  • Day 20 Day 20: Ometepe - Pueblos Blancos - Managua

      Day 20: Ometepe - Pueblos Blancos - Managua

      After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the port and cross with the ferry to Managua. En-route, visit the pueblos blancos (white villages) of Diria, Diriomo, San Juan de Oriente, Catarina, Niquinohomo, Masatepeque, San Marcos, and Jinotepeque Diriamba which lie side by side and show a lot of the Indian folklore. Here awaits you medicine men of white magic, handicrafts from clay, wood and bambรบ, traditional sweets, as well as the most delicious soups in the region. Everything from the Chorotega culture. We continue our trip and arrive in Managua. Registration and room distribution at the hotel. Farewell dinner at the hotel. (B) (D)
