Today, you will have a chance to visit Jordanโ€™s green north. Your first stop will be Jerash. The archaeological site is regarded as one of the most important and best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East.

After Jerash, continue to Ajloun. Already from kilometers away, you can spot the castle, dominating the townโ€™s skyline. Once built to ward off the Crusader armies at the key trade and pilgrimage intersection between Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus and Mecca, it didnโ€™t loose anything of itโ€™s mighty presence until today.

If you have energy left, you can optionally continue to Umm Qais at Jordanโ€™s northern border. Besides the black basalt ruins of the former Decapolis city, also the views over the Sea of Galilee and towards Syria and Lebanon are quite impressive.

Return to Amman in the evening.

Then drive on to Mt Nebo. From the site you have wonderful view over the Dead Sea and the mountains of the Judean desert. It is not difficult to imagine how Moses looked across to the Promised Land from the same spot, knowing he would never reach it.
