The entrance to the rock town of Petra is hard to beat in dramaturgy. Passing the Bedouins with their horses and donkeys, we reach a gorge, the Siq. The first rock engravings of old gods are revealed here. Due to the high rock walls, there is hardly any light on the ground until a gap opens and we look at the enormous rock faรงade of the treasury in amazingly. We are in the pink ruined city of Petra. Our path leads up to the wonderfully located monument of Ed Deir. From there, we can enjoy the wonderful view of the distance.

  • Day 10 Day 10: Wadi Mujib Nature Reserve
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: Wadi Mujib Nature Reserve

We hike into the lower reaches of Wadi Mujib, a deeply cut gorge. The crossing is in the water from the beginning to the end. At some passages we use short ladders to help us safely, some times we pull ourselves, swim against the current or pull ourselves on ropes. Who dares to go all the way to the waterfall? The way back is literally a highlight at the lowest point on earth.

Since the Wadi Mujib is closed from November to March, we hike on the Ibex Trail during this time. Both hikes are under strict protection of nature and have to be checked by the authorities day by day. Depending on the weather conditions they are either open or closed for hikers.
