Itinerary of your trip Alsace On E-Bikes Guided Cycling Tour

  • Day 1 Strasbourgโ€™S Mรผnster And The Showpiece โ€œPetite Franceโ€
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Strasbourgโ€™S Mรผnster And The Showpiece โ€œPetite Franceโ€

At 3:30 pm, your tour guides will meet you in the lobby of the Hotel Beaucours for a guided city tour through the pretty half-timbered streets and the imposing cathedral.

Strasbourgโ€™s charm will quickly win you over! The "Petite France" district is particularly picturesque with its densely packed half-timbered houses next to the Ill canals. This used to be the tannersโ€™ and fishermenโ€™s quarter. Time seems to have stood still in this small town dominated by the cathedral. Now and again, the low rows of half-timbered houses are interspersed with stone buildings of the former nobility, the number of which increases on the way to the cathedral. Today, the historic houses are home to restaurants, quaint wine taverns, specialty stores with Mediterranean delights or homemade delicacies, including quiche, guglhupf and French patisserie. Then you stand in front of the west faรงade of the cathedral and your gaze doesnโ€™t know where to go, so overwhelming is the sight of this filigree building, which is considered the embodiment of Gothic architecture par excellence. Richly decorated portals with countless figures tell biblical stories. Inside, it is the angel pillar and the soaring astronomical clock that captivate visitors. After the tour, stroll through the winding alleyways and enjoy an aperitif in one of the many street cafรฉs on the banks of the canals. In the evening, we will take you to a traditional restaurant in the old town.

1 overnight stay in Strasbourg at the Hotel Beaucour.

  • Day 2 German-French Link - 52 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      German-French Link - 52 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage

After breakfast, you walk a short distance through the old town. The e-bikes are waiting for you not far from one of the mighty old town gates. After your e-bike has been individually adjusted for you, you leave Strasbourg on a shortcut. You leave the city behind you on small side roads, with the Vosges Mountains in view, and cycle the first stage between the Ill and Rhine rivers on the plain towards the south. Extensive fields and meadows pass you by. Around midday, weather permitting, your tour guides will serve you a delicious picnic buffet. Afterwards, you will ride your e-bikes through the tranquil countryside to the River Ill. Lush pastures lean over a small river, along the banks of which our route leads to the hotel. 1 overnight stay and dinner near Sรฉlestat at Hotel Les Prรฉs dโ€™Ondine

  • Day 3 Isenheim Altar &Amp; Little Venice - 45 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Isenheim Altar &Amp; Little Venice - 45 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage

After breakfast, you cycle on a leisurely stage to Colmar. Once you arrive in the old town of Colmar, you will experience the beautiful half-timbered houses with pretty wood carvings on a guided tour of the town. Look forward to the faรงade of the Pfister house, whose stair tower and bay window are covered with filigree carvings, murals and colorful medallions. You will then visit the Unterlinden Museum. The museum was once a monastery where monks dedicated themselves to healing the sick. In addition to medical treatment, attempts were made to banish illness through the intensity of the monasteryโ€™s altarpieces. An altarpiece still plays an important role here today: the famous Isenheim Altarpiece by Mathias Grรผnewald is kept inside the former monastery and is said to be the most poetic depiction in all of Christian art. At lunchtime, you will have enough time to stroll through the alleyways and enjoy French delicacies in one of the quaint bistros. In the afternoon, our route takes us from Colmar into the vineyards of Alsace and past small villages to Eguisheim, where we end the cycle stage at our hotel. For dinner, our tour guides will take you to a typical Alsatian restaurant. 1 overnight stay at the Hotel Lโ€™Auberge Alsacienne.

  • Day 4 Isenheim Altar And Hochkรถnigsburg - 35 Km By Bike (+ 8 Km Optional) - Easy Stage
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Isenheim Altar And Hochkรถnigsburg - 35 Km By Bike (+ 8 Km Optional) - Easy Stage

Our cycle route takes you through the most famous vineyards in Alsace. Medieval villages have been preserved here in the midst of the vine-covered landscape. As if they had grown together with nature, they fill the hollows between the fresh green of the vineyards. Church bells ring from afar and the muffled crowing of roosters can be heard as we leave the pretty villages. On secretive paths through the hilly, slightly gravelly vineyard trails, we approach the small hamlet of Riquewihr in the late afternoon, whose gate tower is undisputedly the most beautiful in the whole of Alsace. One house seems to outdo the other in its splendor! The backs of the houses are also beautiful to look at, with hidden courtyards with surrounding wooden galleries and draw wells overgrown with flowers. In the afternoon, a short transfer will take you up to Hohkรถnigsburg Castle. It is located on a rocky spur that towers high above St. Hippolyte. After visiting the castle, your bike rolls gently downhill through the lush green Vosges forest and you reach Saint-Hippolyte, surrounded by vineyards. The cycling day is rounded off with a commented wine tasting at a renowned winegrower. 1 overnight stay and dinner at the Hotel Val Vignes.

  • Day 5 Factory Romance And Treasures Of The Humanist Library - 49 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Factory Romance And Treasures Of The Humanist Library - 49 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage

In the morning, get back on your e-bikes at the hotel. You reach the old town of Sรฉlestat. The Humanist Library is famous. On a guided tour of the town, you will learn why the library is so precious. The libraryโ€™s well-kept treasures include books from the 7th and 12th centuries. Passing geranium-decorated half-timbered manor houses, you reach Dambach-la-Ville. The old town wall with moats and gates is almost completely preserved. On the market square is a particularly beautiful three-storey half-timbered house, which is home to the famous "Caveau Nartz" wine bar. The Renaissance fountain is adorned with a grape-eating bear, which today adorns the townโ€™s coat of arms. Bernstein Castle lies high above the town. A dark legend tells of a jealous knight who climbed around his wifeโ€™s bedchamber at night to convict her of infidelity. But then his life came to a dramatic end one day when he was slayed with a sword by the quarrelsome lady without being recognized. She died of grief a short time later. On clear moonlit nights - so they say - the couple races around Bernstein Castle in a crystal carriage, silently surrounded by a pack of hellhounds.

The route takes you past old crossroads and along quiet vineyard paths to Epfig. You pass the small Romanesque chapel with its squat crossing tower. On gentle paths, you overcome a few hills and pass the village of Scherwiller, decorated with flowers and characterized by many half-timbered houses, until you reach our hotel in Obernai. This place is a particularly beautiful example of an Alsatian village. Tonight you will spend the night in a pretty, small hotel in the middle of the old town. For dinner we will take you to a restaurant with good cuisine. 1 overnight stay in Obernai in the 4-star Hotel La Diligence.

  • Day 6 Romanic In Rosheim And Idyllic Cycling On A Former Railway - 42 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Romanic In Rosheim And Idyllic Cycling On A Former Railway - 42 Bike Kilometers - Easy Stage

After breakfast, we will take you on a walk through Obernai with its neo-Gothic church, town hall and narrow streets. We leave Obernai and set off on an e-bike into a hilly vineyard landscape with cozy villages. Wonderfully irregular half-timbered houses dominate the centers of the tiny market towns we cycle through. Lush flower bushes in front of the small crooked windows with wrought-iron curves compete in their splendor with the warm tones of the house facades. You cycle over a few vineyard hills.

Around midday, magnificent sacred architecture from the Romanesque period lies along the way, which we do not pass by carelessly. We approach the Romanesque church of St. Peter and Paul through the magnificent old town gates of Rosheim. The stone building stands out from the surrounding houses with a surprisingly imposing appearance. Figures in the form of various birds, noble counts and a hermit stand and sit on its numerous roofs. Shouldnโ€™t there be a story behind these roof riders...?

You leave Rosheim behind you on small side roads and cycle the last stage on a former railroad line through the tranquil countryside. Lush pastures lean over a small canal, along the banks of which our route leads to Strasbourg.

Stroll through the winding alleyways again in the afternoon and enjoy an aperitif in one of the many street cafรฉs on the banks of the canals. In the evening, we will take you to a renowned restaurant in the old town for your final dinner. Another 1 night in Strasbourg at the Hotel Beaucour.

  • Day 7 Au Revoir Alsace!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Au Revoir Alsace!

The Alsace e-bike tour ends after breakfast at the Hotel Beaucour. From there you can start your individual return journey. We recommend an extension in Strasbourg. We will be happy to reserve a good hotel in the old town for you, just ask us.
