Flights

Flight to Cyprus and back Price examples from/to Frankfurt Airport. Prices are based on limited available airline fares. Surcharges are possible at any time. Other departure airports can be selected. If you booked your flights through ASI Reisen, you will be met at Larnaca airport by a representative of ASI Reisen: Please go to the reception hall after baggage claim. Please look for the ASI welcome sign with our logo as a distinctive mark. Then bus or cab ride to our hotel (approx. 1 hr. 30 min.) There are shared transfers from the airport to the hotel depending on flight times. There may be waiting times at the airport. On the morning of the 2nd day, all participants will meet at the reception (in full hiking gear) at 8:45 am for a welcome with our ASI hiking guide. Directly after that we will leave for the first tour.

Efordeliche equipment daypack with approx. 30 litre volume, ankle-high mountain boots with tread sole, water bottle with minimum capacity of 1 litre capacity, practical hiking clothing (T-shirts, trekking trousers, hiking socks), warm accessories (pullover, hat, gloves), anorak (with hood) and overpants, wind and waterproof (e.g. goretex) sun protection (headgear, sunglasses, sunscreen), washing utensils and personal medication. Additional recommended equipment telescopic hiking poles as a walker, bath suits, functional underwear/clothing (breathable) rain cover for the backpack.       Flight to Cyprus. If you book your flight through ASI Reisen, you will be picked up at the airport by an ASI representative and driven to the hotel (approx. 90 min).

      There are shared transfers from the airport to the hotel depending on flight times. There may be waiting times at the airport.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Around Mount Olympos - The Atalante Trail

      Day 2: Around Mount Olympos - The Atalante Trail

      In the morning at 08:45 we will meet with the ASI hiking guide at the reception to greet and get to know each other. Please come already dressed in hiking clothes for the meeting. We will drive up to the Troodos Mountains. This is where our circular hike on the Atalante Trail begins. The tour is named after the mythical Atalante from Greek mythology, a huntress and unbeatable fast runner. We will not break any speed records today, but enjoy hiking around the highest elevation of Cyprus, see up to 800 year old juniper trees, enjoy the shade of the giant black pines, pass the old chrome mines and have a magnificent view of the villages that lie picturesquely below us.

  • Day 3 Day 3: The Kaledonia Waterfall

      Day 3: The Kaledonia Waterfall

      Drive to Platres. From "Psilo Dendro" at an altitude of about 1200 m we walk along the "Kryos Potamos" (Cold River) under mighty black pines. On the way we pass the "Kaledonia" waterfall. The hike takes us up to about 1650 meters. From here we take the hiking trail "Pouziaris" which leads us downhill and back to the starting point (circular trail). Afterwards we enjoy a pleasant wine tasting in a local winery.

      Day 4: Through Pine Forests To The World Heritage Site

      Short drive to Platanistassa, visit of the UNESCO church " Stavros tou Agiasmati" from the 15th century. From there we walk through pine forests and past vines and abandoned almond crops to the village of Lagoudera. After lunch visit of the UNESCO jewel "Panagia tou Araka" with frescoes from the 12th century.

      Day 5: The Old Mine At Kakopetria

      From "Troodos Square" we hike downhill to the idyllic mountain village of Kakopetria. Black pine and unique geology accompany our way down the "Kargotis" stream, past an abandoned chrome mine. Afterwards, spiritual enrichment awaits us in the UNESCO church "Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis from the 11th century.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Around Olympus

      Day 6: Around Olympus

      Drive to Mount Olympus, the highest peak in Cyprus at 1,952 meters. On the circular nature trail "Artemis" just below the summit we enjoy beautiful views. We continue to Asinou, where we admire the frescoes of the UNESCO church "Panagia Forviotissa" from the 12th century. We hike along the northern foothills of the Troodos Mountains to the small village of Agios Theodoros and have beautiful views of Morphou Bay. We will have lunch together in the taverna to finish the day.
