      Upon arrival in Accra, proceed through immigration and customs, reclaim your luggage and you will be met by our experienced tour manager who will welcome and assist you to be transported in a luxury A/C motorcoach to your hotel in Accra.

      Upon arrival at the hotel, there will refreshments before you are escorted to our preassigned rooms. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax, refresh and recuperate from the overnight.

      Breakfast at your hotel (Enjoy a fully set-up breakfast buffet with lots of fresh fruit, variety of bread and pastries, cheeses, cold cuts plus a variety of Ghanaian specialties you will enjoy. Included will be fresh coffee, tea and fresh juices of every kind). After breakfast and a brief orientation by your tour manager, we shall be transferred to this morningโ€™s welcome reception by the local people of Ghana.

      Messages will be delivered by traditional leaders including those representing Tourism, Culture, Investments and Trade, Medicine, Education, Mining, Import/Export, Agriculture & Banking.

      In attendance, will be the Ghana Dance Ensemble, Ghanaโ€™s most accomplished Dance troupe, who will entertain us to splendid local performances. You will have the opportunity to display your skills while the group performs, and you may even be selected to join them impromptu.

      After the welcome activities, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (on your own account) before visiting the following  important sites:

      We will drive pass Ghanaโ€™s parliament house and Independence Square on our way to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park Drive through Jubilee House, ofcial residence and administrative ofces of the president (Ghanaโ€™s Whitehouse). Visit the W.E.B. DuBois former home, now a museum and Center for the study of Pan Africanism.

      This eveningโ€™s buffet dinner will be at your hotel.

      After breakfast, we will travel a short distance to a small neighboring village of Accra called Dodowa to visit the T.K. Beading Centre- experts in making beautiful traditional beads using ancient methods. An expert Artisan will l walk you through the skilled process of bead-making. Beads are cultural symbols of wealth and beauty here in Ghana and are still used during traditional durbars and festivals. After the demonstration, try your hand at bead-making. You can purchase a wide selection of beads that have been made here onsite.

      We return to Accra, visiting the following places:

      Historic James Townโ€”one of Accraโ€™s most historic neighborhoods, where history resides on every corner. Best known for its lighthouses (the rst of which was constructed in 1875 by the British) as navigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf of Guinea. The original structure was ruined; however, a larger and more improved lighthouse completed in 1921 is still functioning today. James Town is also known as Ghanaโ€™s boxing incubator, the home of Africaโ€™s most accomplished boxer, Azumah Nelson. You will also visit โ€œBrazil Houseโ€ and learn about the seven Afro-Brazilians families who returned to settle in James Town in 1836 after slavery was abolished in Brazil. Experience some of Accraโ€™s most authentic shopping opportunities including Crafts, Carvings, Authentic African Art, exquisite fabrics and custom-made clothing.

      During dinner this evening, expert tailors will be on hand from whom you  can order one-of-a-kind custom made outts from a wide selection of fabrics

      After breakfast, we will depart to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. On arrival in Kumasi, you will check into your hotel and have lunch on our own. After lunch, we will begin to explore this historic city.

      Visits will include:

      The woodcarving village Of Ahwiaa, known for the talented craftsmen who fashion royal stools, fertility dolls and other crafts from wood. The village of Ntonso, where artisanโ€™s hand-stamp patterns on cotton cloth to make Adinkra textiles. Adinkra textiles are worn for funerals and other solemn occasions. Learn how the black dye is made from the bark of trees, and create your own Adinkra sash to take home. The village of Adanwomase where the famous Kente cloth is handmade on looms in a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. See the Kente weavers in the process of creating Kente cloth in various intricate styles.

      After breakfast, we will visit National Cultural Center which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of brass-makers, potters and batik makers. Exhibits in this museum include a replica of the famed Golden Stool, which is believed to have descended from the sky and is the spiritual symbol of unity for the Ashanti people.

      Next stop will be Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain rsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom, a regal history that dates back to 1700 and is told with relics and artifacts.

      After lunch, we will travel 10 minutes to the historic village of Nkwantakese  for a grand durbar of Chiefs. We shall be ofcially welcomed to the Ashanti Kingdom by Nana Boakye Yaw Ababio Obrempong , who will lead the colorful Durbar of eminent chiefs and elders.   The reception will include a colorful Durbar where the chief and his elders will welcome us.

      The pageantry will be welcome addresses and cultural performances by the most accomplished cultural groups in the Ashanti region.

      You will be encouraged and given the opportunity to join in and display your artistic skills.

      Dinner tonight will be at your hotel.

      Following breakfast, we depart to Cape Coast in Ghanaโ€™s central Region.

      This region has had the most signicant effect on the lives of Africans in the diaspora. You will pass through small villages and arrive at Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from Jamaica and the US whose remains were reinterred here in August 1998 during Ghanaโ€™s rst Emancipation Day Celebration.

      You will see the โ€œSlave River:โ€ where our ancestors were washed before connement in the slave dungeons to await shipment to the Americas.  Arrive in Cape Coast and check into our hotel.

      Late afternoon we will visit Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482 and is also known as St. Georgeโ€™s Castle. This castle was the rst European structure built in Sub-Saharan Africa. The colorful harbor nestled below Elmina Castle, full of pirogues preparing to go to sea offers one of West Africaโ€™s greatest photo opportunities.

      After breakfast, we will travel a short distance to Cape Coast dungeon, where we will experience the emotional journey of going in the opposite direction of our ancestors, through the infamous โ€œdoor of no returnโ€ . RETURNING through the โ€œdoor of no returnโ€ be prepared to console your traveling companions as this is always an emotional experience.

      This afternoon after lunch at the Castle Restaurant, you will experience the traditional Fihankra Ceremonyโ€“ โ€œRestore to Diasporans the Cultural and Spiritual connections that were denied them for centuriesโ€ .  The nal part of Fihankra includes a naming ceremony. There evening you can visit the Kotokoraba Market. โ€œKotokorabaโ€ the cradle of Cape Coast, is the economic hub of the region, with major trading stores located in the area. The market has existed for many decades, and was a major trading site during pre-independence era. It serves as a central point for all trade in the region and it is hotspot for economic activity.

      After breakfast and before you return to Accra you will visit the Kakum National Park, which has Africaโ€™s most famous rainforest canopy walkway. This tropical rainforest and the canopy walkway are sure to be one of the highlights of your time in Ghana. The walkway consists of a series of 7 bridges, attached to 7 emerging trees, 40 meters above the rainforest oor. Prepare to take a deep breath as you walk the suspended bridges. You will marvel at the breathtaking views that stretch for miles across t as you rest on the tree platforms. We are sure you will agree that this is an exciting excursion never to be forgotten.

      This evening, we will have our Gala Farewell Dinner. Here, you will have the opportunity to wear your newly tailored Ghanaian clothing including Smocks and Kente.

      A highlight is always hearing for the rst time what the experiences here in Ghana have meant to fellow travelers who are rst time returnees from the Diaspora.

      The best of Ghanaโ€™s cultural entertainment will be on display by the Wulomei live band that will entertain with enduring local selections some that were composed by the most accomplished Ghanaian and African composers.
