  • Day 1 Arrival To Bari

      Your individual journey to Puglia begins today. After picking up your rental car directly at the airport, you will have time to explore the charming city of Bari. The city, described by Pasolini as "the city with two faces", impresses with its imposing medieval old town, led by the magnificent Basilica of San Nicola, and modern Bari, which exudes its own charms with traditional flair. A stroll along the lakeside promenade, one of the largest in Europe, is recommended, as is sampling the delicious Focaccia Barese, the south-eastern Italian equivalent of Pizza Napoletana. You will then continue your journey to your booked accommodation in Trani, where, depending on your arrival time, you will have time for a first stroll through the beautiful old town, a delicious ice cream or dinner in one of the many restaurants. You will spend the night in your booked accommodation.

      Spend today exploring your overnight stay in Trani extensively. The charming little harbor town with its picturesque old town and impressive church by the sea will undoubtedly delight you. In the afternoon, you have the opportunity to travel to Altamura. The beautiful old town, surrounded by an imposing wall, is home to the cathedral, which was built in the 13th century and is well worth a visit. Altamura is also famous for its traditional bread, which has been baked here for centuries. In the evening, you return to your accommodation in Trani.

      After a traditional southern Italian breakfast, you make your way to Vieste, on the picturesque Gargano peninsula. Along the incomparable coast of the Gulf of Manfredonia, you will pass a number of charming harbor towns. Your journey begins in Trani, also known as "The Pearl of Apulia", once rich thanks to trade routes to the east. From Trani, your route takes you northwards, always along the sea, past Barletta, Manfredonia and Mattinata, until you finally arrive in Vieste in the afternoon and check into your next accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon with a refreshing swim in the sea or a leisurely stroll through the lively old town. For dinner, we recommend the first-class fish restaurants that Vieste has to offer.

      After a hearty breakfast, we invite you to take a tour of the Gargano National Park, where you will be enchanted by breathtaking landscapes and views. The coastal landscape alone offers spectacular panoramas and photo opportunities, while short hikes along the coast or through the ancient pine forests offer unforgettable experiences. Take time to explore the charming villages of San Giovanni Rotondo and Monte Santโ€™Angelo and look out for the best photo opportunities. After leaving Vieste, turn back a little and then soon turn right to reach Monte Santโ€™Angelo. You then continue your journey to San Giovanni Rotondo and cross the peninsula to Lago di Varano on the north side. A stop in Peschici is a good idea to stretch your legs before returning to Vieste in the evening.

      Today, after breakfast, you will set off from the Gargano peninsula to visit the most important building in the region. The famous Castel del Monte is on the program. If you would like to explore the castle from the inside, an online booking is required, the entrance fee is โ‚ฌ7 per person (as of summer 2022). Built in 1250 but never completed, the castle, which still raises many questions and theories today, is one of the most famous buildings in southern Italy. Immerse yourself in the fascinating architecture during the guided tour and follow in the footsteps of the Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick II through the castle grounds. In the afternoon, continue your journey south-east, crossing the unique landscape of Apulia, characterized by untouched nature and an impressive coastal landscape. In the late afternoon, you will reach the coastal and fishing village of Torre Canne, where your next accommodation for the next two nights awaits you.

      Today, the most bizarre and at the same time most remarkable place in the Apulia region is on the program. The morning takes you to Alberobello, known for its many trulli houses with their striking conical roofs that characterize the townscape. In the afternoon, you have the choice of spending time in the charming coastal town of Monopoli, with its enchanting medieval old town, shallow sandy beach and picturesque bays. Or you can opt for a visit to the Castellana Grotto, where you can hike along an approximately three-kilometre-long path through underground passages with fascinatingly shaped stalactites and stalagmites. You will then return to your accommodation in the evening.

      Today you continue your journey further south, as the region of Apulia also offers you the most beautiful and best beaches in the region in the south - in the so-called Salento.

      First, however, you will explore the small town of Ostuni. The "white city" is magically situated on three hills from where you have a wonderful view of the surrounding area. As you stroll through the winding alleyways of the town, you will soon realize where the nickname comes from. All the houses in the old town are whitewashed. The surrounding countryside of Ostuni is characterized by beautiful olive groves and thus offers a wonderful colour contrast to the white town.

      Continuing past the port city of Brindisi, you will reach your next accommodation for the last two nights in the afternoon. There are some great beaches here that you should definitely visit.

In the afternoon, your journey takes you to the baroque town of Lecce, also known as the "Florence of the Baroque", a paradise for art lovers. Every street corner offers a new, fascinating perspective and the cozy cafรฉs invite you to linger and enjoy. Explore the city on a walking tour and discover all its fascinating facets before returning to your accommodation in the evening.
