      After your arrival at Narita or Haneda Airport in Tokyo, you will be transferred to your hotel. Free time. Explore the nearby shopping and restaurant district of Shinjuku. 3 nights at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel Tokyu (or equivalent).

      Exploring Tokyo (F)

      After the welcome meeting with your travel companion at the hotel, you will explore Tokyo on foot and by subway in the morning. The program includes: the tranquil Meiji Jingu, the most famous Shinto shrine in Tokyo with a 12-meter-high torii gate at the entrance, the Nijubashi Bridge at the Imperial Palace from 1888. Continue to the nearby Harajuku district, known for its colourful street art and fashion scene. As well as quirky vintage clothing and cosplay stores on Takeshita-dori, there are also more traditional, upmarket boutiques on the leafy Omotesand? avenue. Small bars and trendy cafรฉs line the surrounding alleyways. Take the train to the pedestrian zone at Shibuya Station. Directly in front of the station is the statue of the dog Hachiko, whose story moves the hearts of the Japanese. You can also go on a culinary discovery tour in the Tokyo Food Hall and get to know life in Tokyo.

      Discover the oldest and most revered temple in Tokyo, the Asakusa Temple. Stroll along Kappabashi Dori with its countless stores. Visit the Yanaka Cemetery,

      one of Tokyoโ€™s most famous cemeteries, which looks more like a park than a cemetery. Stroll through the old town of Yanaka with its many restored old buildings.

  • Day 5 Tokyo - Hakone (F/A)

      Train ride from Tokyo to Hakone, known for its mountain views, natural beauty and hot springs. Ride the cable car for magnificent views of Lake Ashi. On a clear day you will see the iconic Mt. Fuji. Boat trip on Lake Ashi. You will spend the night in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese hotel. Enjoy a Japanese dinner, relax in the hotelโ€™s own hot springs (onsen) and sleep in an atmospheric room with a tatami floor on a futon mattress. Susukinohara Ichinoyu is just 400 meters from the Botanical Garden and close to other attractions such as the Hakone Lalique Museum, the Venetian Glass Museum and the Pola Museum. Overnight stay at Ryokan Susukinohara Ichinoyu (or equivalent)

      From Hakone, travel by train to Takayama, famous for its well-preserved old town district and traditional atmosphere. On the way, enjoy a bento box lunch. In Takayama Jinya, visit a former government building that offers insights into Japanโ€™s history. Stroll along the well-preserved traditional wooden houses along Kami Sannomachi Street. 2 nights at the Hotel Takayama Ouan (or equivalent).

      Today you can explore Takayama and the surrounding area on your own. A good opportunity to relax and unwind. For those looking for something to do, we recommend a visit to the Festival Floats Exhibition Hall, which displays colorful floats used for two of Japanโ€™s most famous festivals. Or visit the Hida no Sato Open-Air Museum in the middle of Takayamaโ€™s mountainous countryside with its 30 thatched-roof farmhouses, inns and warehouses from the Edo period (1603-1867). A little further afield are Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage village known for its natural beauty and steeply pitched thatched roofs. Discover the shrines and temples of the Teramachi district or Hida-Furukawa (approx. 15 minutes by train) with its lovingly restored old town, a hidden treasure in the mountains.

      From Takayama, take the train to vibrant Osaka. After dropping off your luggage at the hotel, take an afternoon stroll through the Dotonbori district, known for its bright neon lights, street food and shopping. 2 nights at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka (or similar)

      Morning city tour with a visit to the cityโ€™s most famous landmark, the Umeda Sky Building. The imposing building consists of two 40-storey towers connected by glass bridges on the top two floors. This is followed by a visit to the Kuromon Ichiba market, the "Kitchen of Osaka". Experience the lively and bustling atmosphere of this covered market from the Edo period.

  • Day 10 Osaka - Hiroshima (F)

      Morning train journey to Hiroshima. Visit to the Peace Memorial Museum and the peace memorial (atomic bomb dome) in the memorial park.


      Please note: The large luggage will be transported directly from the hotel in Osaka to the hotel in Kyoto.


      Please pack a small luggage for 2 nights separately.

  • Day 11 Hiroshima - Miyajima Island (F)

      Day trip to Miyajima Island. Ferry crossing to the island and sightseeing: Itsukushima Shrine, cable car ride up the sacred Misen Mountain. Taste a traditional okonomiyaki pancake before returning to the mainland by ferry. Free time in the evening.

  • Day 12 Hiroshima - Himeji - Kyoto (F)

      In the morning, take the train to Himeji and visit the White Heron Castle. Onward journey to Kyoto. Transfer to the hotel and break.


      Evening walk through the old, traditional and timeless Gion district along Ponto-cho and Hanami-koji streets in the Gion neighborhood, Kyotoโ€™s most famous geisha district and a place where tradition and modernity meet. Stores, restaurants and traditional teahouses dominate the scene. Gion is the home of the geiko (geisha) and maiko (geisha aspirants), who entertain their guests with dance, music and conversation. Around one thousand geiko and maiko live in Gion!

      Todayโ€™s sightseeing program includes Kiyomizu-Dera Temple in the hills east of Kyoto, a walk along the store houses of the old cobbled Ninenzaka Street to Kyotoโ€™s oldest Zen temple, Kenninji Temple.

      oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, the Kenninji Temple. Learn about the philosophy and art of tea service at a traditional tea ceremony. The tour ends at the golden pavilion of Kinkakuji, Kyotoโ€™s most famous building.

      In the morning, you will visit the sacred Fushimi Inari Shrine. It is dedicated to Kami Inari and is the main shrine of about a third of all Inari shrines in Japan. It is one of the oldest and most famous Shinto shrines in Kyoto. The avenues of countless orange torii on the grounds of the Fushimi Inari Shrine are particularly impressive.


      Free time in the afternoon.


      In the evening, a special kaiseki farewell dinner with a maiko (geisha apprentice) awaits you. The maiko is usually under 20 years old and wears a colorful kimono with a red collar. Maiko means "dancing child" and refers to geishas who are still in training. Maiko must live with their mother (okamisan) in a geisha lodging house (okiya) for 5 years. Maiko are not allowed to own a cell phone, carry money or have a boyfriend.
